Well... I didn't mind about accents. Afterall I didn't expect every single British I meet to sound like John Cleese or Rowan Atkinson.

But localised accents like Scose or cockney are really hard to understand. Particularly to those who might be a bit challanged in their English (e.g. Asian).

At least I find my friend's Newcastle accent rather strong even after staying in Manchester for a few years and the Midlands for far more.

Its doubtful that a game would utilise these in order to cater for the international customer base, in favor for the "proper" English, which is much more universal.

Maybe it'll be something like My Fair Lady. She'll start out cockney and work her way up to fancy.

OMG just let us hear her already. I'm getting so frustrated here. :pinched:

Are you seriously sitting on pins and needles waiting just to hear her voice? It's that vital?

I didn't catch this somehow, but in response of course it's vital. How ardently have you guys been trying to highlight that DA2 has a voiced protagonist by now?  How surprising it must be that we should be anticipating one of the many new features to be presented in the sequel!

*sigh* sorry for the snark.

I don't think you should be sorry for the snark. They're not sorry when they're snarky to us. In fact, they enjoy making us cry, by being snarky to us. Especially Gaider. He's like the queen of snark. And besides, you make a very valid point. Our character is going to be voiced. We want to hear the voice of this person that we're going to be spending hours, days, maybe weeks playing. We got to hear Male Hawke, now it's Lady Hawke's turn. Fair play and all that.

Yea... Don't apologize. You make a valid point.

It really does suck that have to wait until a month or even shorter than a month (If Mike didn't get his way :() to when the game releases just to hear the female voiced protagonist.

I could see it. Lady Hawke could be sitting somewhere, in her armored glory, with Varric at her side... Maybe in a tavern. And she's complaining, reality-tv style to the camera, about how Garrett gets all the attention. And she's sick of it. And then some raiders or whatever come crashing into the tavern, and she's all "Excuse me" to the camera, and proceed's to whoop their asses. Then she comes back and is like, "What was I saying? Oh, yeah. Garrett. That attention ****."

I chuckled out loud at this. Your Lady Hawke sounds awesome.

Only a couple weeks before the game itself is released... that's cool I guess.. lmao.

I don't know whether i'm more shocked at the fact that we won't hear her until release or close to it, or the fact that guys at the Bioware feel like this isn't a big deal.

I was hoping they'd reveal Lady Hawke's voice... With a video... Before February 14th.

February 14th, being Valentine's day and all lovey-dovey romantic stuff, I was hoping for romance reveals. February should be a busy month. At least, I hope it is.

I almost never play males, so i consider it vital to know how the voice actress sounds like...If i don't like a companion's voice i could leave him in camp. But I'll stick with FHawke through many playthroughs...unless i mute her and listen to music. :D

Garrett's voice has been revealed, why Marian cannot get the same treatment? At least the name of the voice actress...we can figure out the rest.

That's actually a rather good point. If the voiced protagonist is as revolutionary as some quarters claim (and I'm a fan myself) then surely it is quite a vital part of the pre-release material for those planning on primarily/only playing as the female Hawke.

It's certainly not an unreasonable request, nor something I'm surprised people are eager to hear. And yeah, if I've learnt anything from my time on these boards it's that you have to set the snark to full power.

Yes. It is actually. I don't plan on rolling male Hawke unless he's the only way of romancing Aveline, IF, by some miracle she is even a potential LI. We just want to hear from her already.

You don't actually need to roll anything until you get the game. I would suggest not getting worked up about what someone does or doesn't sound like at this point.

At this point, its morbid curiosity. I dislike voiced player characters. The voices don't usually match my expectations for the character, and kills my interest in replaying the game.

I disliked maleShep's voice to the point the poor guy never made it off the Normandy to Eden Prime. If I had disliked femShep to the same extent, I'd have never bothered with the game. The only reason I played the game was because I do like Jen Hale's work.

MaleHawke was revealed. I might have been able to tolerate his voice, but it would still be kind of iffy [I don't think an intent icon will magically make me like the wheel o'hints system]. FemHawke being voiced by someone like the person who did Isolde would just put the final touches on my totally ignoring the game, instead of considering buying it at some point in the future, at least a goty edition, if its on a steam holiday sale.

On the other hand, no classes/no class restrictions, no voiced pc, no wheel o'hints, pissed off undead, mammoths, saber tooth cats, snow trolls, and dragons.... I'm looking forward to Skyrim.

It's my instinct to side with the BW staff most times, but ... you have a really, really, really good point here. The voiced protagonist is being promoted as one of the biggest FEATURES in this game. They wouldn't go into release without showing the framed narrative or the new art style. This IS a pretty big deal and you point out exactly why.

And I'm pretty sure you will have a chance to hear it before release. But some people here are making it sound like the only purpose of us releasing the gameplay video or whatever other marketing has gone out was so we could reveal the male Hawke voice-- and if we're not releasing something with the female Hawke voice for that express purpose we must be hiding it.

Come on, now. Get a grip, that's all I ask. :)

Oh, well, if people are really saying that, then your snark is by all means allowed. I'm actually pretty happy with the amount of Lady Hawke we've gotten in this prerelease, especially compared to Jane Shepard. But I don't think that getting frustrated over it being something like two months since we've heard Garrett with no Marian in sight is such a bad thing :)

I've mostly seen people commenting on the general prevelance of games marketing to focus on the male protagonist in a situation like this, and as such worrying whether we will get to see much of Lady Hawke before release, focusing on the voice as it is such an important aspect of the game.

I don't see why anyone would think Bioware would hide Lady Hawke's voice or something, but then you do get some crazy posts on these boards.

People said that the lack of gameplay in general was because BW was ashamed of the game. Never underestimate how far people will go to be right about not liking something.

I thought the purpose was to gather more tears for the coffee pot since they dry up so quickly. Image IPB

Not hiding, just not showing. I mean marketing has said in the past people get *confused* easily. Image IPB

Personally, I would think your marketing would WANT to highlight the new features which have been talked about for so long.  And one of those features is the voiced PC.

So, yes, IMO, one of the points of your marketing - including the gameplay videos -  should be to reveal things like this.

*shrug*  Just my opinion.
