If we don't get a clip of Lady Hawke talking before February 11, I'm going go ahead and download the demo (because I went to Gamestop today and when I asked for it I was kindly granted a demo code ^_^). If nobody else does it, I'll try to record video of her speaking and youtube it for everyone else to see (assuming we can play as FemHawke in the demo...)

I tried that today and they had no clue what I was talking about. It's already bad enough that I never get a midnight release for games I want, I seriously don't think gamestops in SC know anything else other than shooters and sports games.

Congratulations on getting a code.  *Pounces on you.*  Just kidding.  You are lucky, indeed.Posted Image

Wait, you just asked for a demo code, and they gave it to you?

...I'm gonna have to try that...

Edit: Let's try to stay on topic so we don't get our thread locked.

We know Marian has a British accent, but what sort of a British accent? Goldanna seemed to have a cockney (sp?) accent. "Oy? You have lawn-dree? Aye charge tooo-bits by the bundle, oy!"

Does anyone have a link as to where Mr. Laidlaw said he would try to get Lady Hawke's voice out? I can't seem to find it back.

Yep.  All would have been right in the world yesterday if they had just put out a thirty second clip of Lady Hawke in action.

I have a strong suspicion that if Chris had just divulged the LI status of Fenris or Varric, that alone would have been enough to appease many people angry about the announcement yesterday.  Me, I just want to know more about Lady Hawke, the companions can wait.

Riding the demo rollercoaster. Sheesh, what a ride. Anyway! While Claudia Black is an awesome actress, I don't think her voice can change that much... Whenever I hear her, like in Pitch Black, I think of Morrigan. She will forever be Morrigan to me, and I don't think I can handle Morrigan being the voice of my Hawkette.

I guess the Devs have to go through certain channels about any information about the game that is revealed, and its more through EA's side of things than through the Marketing Department (which probably also has to go through EA's side of things). I can respect that, with the legality that's involved between companies...

I still would like to know who Lady Hawke's VA is, though. Or hear a clip. If someone on the Dev team could say "I'm sorry, we can't show that right now or divulge that information", I'd be satisfied. At least it was addressed. Because right now, I feel like after Mike saying we'd hear her, it seems that it just fell through the cracks and was forgotten about.

Unfortunately, what a dev says on a forum, in an interview, at a convention, etc should never be taken at face value.  "Two years of DA:O DLC ..."

I think we'll hear her before the demo too, though I'll eat my hat if we hear her in an offical DA video.  More likeley it will come from an IGN vid on character creation, or whatever.

You should know I didn't it get on my first try. I tried one Gamestop and asked while I was paying for another game (I thought it would help my chances if I was purchasing something). The 2 guys knew what I was talking about and debated amongst themselves for a few minutes about whether or not they could give me a code, and finally they said they didn't want to risk it (I remember one of them saying "Why did they send us so many??" so they must have had way more than they needed).
I then went to another nearby Gamestop and sweetly asked the guy there if I could have one. He was all unsure about it at first, and then said he'd give me one if I pre-ordered DA2 with them. I've already pre-ordered the Sig edition with Amazon and told him so, and I was all "Aw shucks" and made a sad, puppy face. He then relented and said he'd give me one anyway. :)

I would guess that her's would be similar to Male Hawke's accent...  I'm not sure what to call that accent officially. I've heard terms like the Queen's English used to describe it.

Edit: Wikipedia says that it's called Received Proncunciation. ;)

Well, if the demo is really released to Gamestop employees on the 11th then it's only a matter of time before someone posts a video on the internet. I highly doubt that they will keep it all to themselves. So maybe we'll get a clip then?

That is for sure:  GS employees+demo+info hungry DA fans=youtube bonanza lol

Very nice. Two of my friends from high school work at Gamestop and I already gave them the word to be the lookout for one of those codes for me.

Whoo this took awhile to find, but here it is.

Yeah I'd guess it'll be RP, apparently there are very few British actors that cannot do RP when required and it would fit to have both Hawke's with the same sort of accent. That said I'm still thinking it'll be Belinda Cornish, who voiced Goldanna. But then she also voiced the Baroness among other more minor characters.

If it turns out it isn't Belinda Cornish I think I'll feel a bit like Calla must have when it turned out Peter Bramhill wasn't voicing Male Hawke.

English accent, not British. British would include Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

I'd agree with that; it would be strange for male Hawke to be using received pronunciation and female Hawke to sound like she'd just hopped off the train from Dorset.

argghhh were going round in circles with speculation and the same old information!!    :pinched:

Come on Bioware give us something!  Pretty please!  We've been patient for months!!  I have a preordered game where I don't even know what my protagonist sounds like!  The games only days away now from release!

At least give us a date to end our ordeal ^_^

Belinda Cornish is also Cassandra, which would be a bit awkward if she speaks with Lady Hawke.

The week's not over yet, maybe we'll get something by this Friday? The character page on the official site still hasn't been updated with Merrill, yet, so they still have some things to do. Hopefully getting another Dev video out with Marian in it will be one of those things.

Ohhh... Really? Hm. In that case, I don't think we've guessed Lady Hawke's VA, then. And the reason I say this is...

When I guessed Varric's VA to be Brian Bloom, it was confirmed. When someone guessed Alec Newman as Sebastian, it was confirmed. Male Hawke's VA is that guy who voiced Ser Bryant (can't think of his name). It seems like if we hit the nail on the head for VA's, they can confirm it. So maybe we haven't said the right name, yet.

I've heard this before on the boards and did a search last time it came up. The -only- thing I found was a post on these boards by someone saying the same thing, they never replied when others asked for a source. So... Source? :wizard:

Considering Cassandra isn't 'Ferelden' and thus isn't British it would seem odd to cast a talented British actress to voice her if you ask me.  But maybe she does a really good French/whatever Nevarran's sound like accent, who knows.

@Moon: Interesting theory, but we got the impression from the Bloom incident that Mary wasn't really supposed to confirm that. Missed the Sebastien VA thing, but they never confirmed Male Hawke, we guessed it was Boulton months before it was confirmed as well.

I just listened to Cassandra again, and I hear a sort of Slavic accent of sorts, like a ball-busting Russian KGB agent/interrogator or maybe even a ballsy German accent hmmmm but I'm probably wrong

LOL  I guess that means guys will have no chance at doing the same thing... unless they have a  friend working inside and he/she agrees in betraing his employers.

I'm not great at accents to be honest, but I'd guess they would save the German accents for the Anderfels? Isn't that supposed to be Germanic? I could be wrong. Like the Russian KGB interrogator idea though. :police:

I had a dream the other night that he voiced Wesley. I concluded from that that BioWare hates me and my love for Mr. Bramhill.
