While I prefer femShep to ManShep, Meer does a much better job in ME2. He even achieves some nice subtle inflections, which is hard to do in a video game. As for what I've heard of ManHawke, I like it. There's one line in the dev diary where he sort of barks and I can hear Vaughn in there, though. *cringe* Any VA who can make me hate a character so much as to kill him in every origin, I have to applaud.

Anyway, emotional range is good. Thanks for the tidbits Mr. Woo.

My god...there are people in the world who actually liked MaleShep more than FemShep( or should I say Halenites) in this world and on this forum...OMG, I love this place!

@ Jamie... I heard that too...and i about :sick:barfed:sick: at that scene...but beyond that he sounded pretty good to me. Thanks Mr. Woo for the references and the comparison to Taken definetely puts me at ease again about MaleHawke....

Well God damn it.
Is it too much to ask for a male protagonist who can express proper emotion? The romances are going to sound so embarrassing. Borderline creepy. Let's hope not...

I would compare it to Liam Neeson in "Taken." On the one hand, there's the emotional connection his character has with his daughterand his motivations for rescuing her. On the other hand, it's Liam-bleeping-Neeson kicking the bejeebers out of the bad guys! Both are different, but equally enjoyable.

For your next DA game, I DEMAND you hire Liam Neeson as the new customizable male hero's voice!

My god, yes! Posted Image You know, he doesn't even have to be the protagonist... just have him somewhere in the game, and DA3 will have nominations for best-est voice acting ever.

In my opinion the only romance in me2 that felt like it had convincing emotion behind it was with tali. Although I prefer Femshep, she was just creepy with how she decided to pursue relationships!

I am so happy to hear Femhawke flurts are good, and manhawke sounds awesome too especially with the comparison to taken. Thank you kindly Mr woo

It's tough to say whether I like ManHawke 'sor LadyHawke's voice more. i think LadyHawke has a much broader emotional range, while ManHawke's gets to be more epic throughout. I prefer ManHawke's combat barks, but LadyHawke's flirting.

Sounds good, though I do hope LadyHawke's flirting will be subtle. I literally never talk to Jacob in ME2 because it always feels like I'm losing the control of my character. Roleplaying is very difficult if the voice actress uses extremely lopsided tones. Generally I loved Jennifer Hale's voice acting.

I hope the flirt lines will either be rather neutral or we'll be offered several paths to approach romances (too much to hope for probably:(). I'd love to play a fierce rogue who's just a little shy when it comes to romance.

Anyway, I'm kinda hoping it will be Belinda Cornish. I'm replaying DA:O for the umpteenth time and I'm noticing that she really did a great job with Goldanna and other NPCs. She also has that sort of voice that isn't too special/unique to identify with.

Male gamers don't want emotion, though.  They want stiff, two dimensional Action McCoolGuys that spout off bad-ass one-liners and bang everything that looks female.

Or, at least, that's the impression I get from the video game marketing as of late.

I don't know who wrote her lines or directed Hale to sound like that in the Jacob romance, but it was painful.  Haing a woman sound confident is one thing, but having her go all cougar town  is quite another.  =]

Anyway, I do hope LadyHawke avoids that situation.  ME3 writers, if you are reading, please take notes.

Altima darkspells, you are right that is what the marketing would have you believe, but of all the male gamers I know most would like to see more depth to male characters in general, I think dao delivered this really well, and although I mostly play as female characters I am actually equally excited about male and female hawke

*thinks he may have to youtube some femshep romances in ME 2 then...* LOL!

Well, fortunately for me as a male gamer who plays female characters( in DA atleast) LadyHawke, it seems took more precaution with the lines, the voice actor...I need to hear her to get a real feel for her...as I have said in another thread it's hard to roleplay a female...

@Victa - I echo your sediments ENTIRELY!

You see when I roleplay these characters in games,I try and roleplay the sex( male or female) before the style(warrior,rogue,mage)...so i can get an understanding and view the game world as they would as I were actually them...and for the most part male VO are HORRIBLE at expressing emotion properly...

LOL. Ironically, as a male gamer who tends to play female characters, I actually find it easier to roleplay a female. Its one reason I do it so much.

But then most of my friends tell me that I am secretly a woman. So that probably has a lot to do with it.

Oh, and in response to your earlier comments: i actually like Male!Shep more than Fem!Shep. Notably in ME2. Dunno why, though. You are not alone, though!

I find Jennifer Hale (FemShepard) is a much better than maleShepard, no offence Mark Meer. I would like her to be FemHawke.

If we can play Hawke as a woman in the demo, that will address all my concerns, I think. I am content.

This is acceptable, however I'd still like to hear LadyHawke before then.  I'd rather hear her from an official BW vid than on a leaked demo youtube vid, but I'll take either at this point.

Indeed.  My 13 year old nephew is a gamer and he likes games with a 'good story' (his words).  He's too young for DA unfortunately...but still.  (One example I'm using to illustrate and support your point).

Oh, er, Female Hawke.  Keen to hear her VA. :wizard:

I blame the writers 100% for that. As it is, I don't want to touch the romance options in ME2 with a 10 ft pole. And I normally enjoy romances in BW games.

wah, Jamie, that's torture... especially the last one
This should make an entry into the developers guide book as an example how to ruin a romance. Then again, we can only hope they learned their lesson.
