Is it too much to ask for a male protagonist who can express proper emotion?
Male gamers don't want emotion, though. They want stiff, two dimensional Action McCoolGuys that spout off bad-ass one-liners and bang everything that looks female.
Or, at least, that's the impression I get from the video game marketing as of late.
I am offended. seriously.

wah, Jamie, that's torture... especially the last one
This should make an entry into the developers guide book as an example how to ruin a romance. Then again, we can only hope they learned their lesson.
They did LotSB spoilers

I blame the writers 100% for that. As it is, I don't want to touch the romance options in ME2 with a 10 ft pole. And I normally enjoy romances in BW games.Victia wrote...
In my opinion the only romance in me2 that felt like it had convincing emotion behind it was with tali. Although I prefer Femshep, she was just creepy with how she decided to pursue relationships!
Considering Lukas wrote the Jacob romance, I'm kinda hoping that Aveline is not an LI for either gender

Not saying ManHawke doesn't have emotional range. i just think LadyHawke has much more of it.
Confirmation that ManHawke is a brick and Lady Hawke is an actual person

Can't say I understand why I see people wishing for Lady Hawke to be voiced by Jen Hale, there would be too great a chance of her sounding like Shepard and I'm not sure why people would want Shepard and Hawke to sound potentially so similar. Plus Fereldens should speak in an English accent!

Hale did an english accent for Bastila in KOTOR, so people think she could do the same for Lady Hawke.Apollo Starflare wrote...

Just a love for Jennifer Hale I imagine. I get it I as I love her voice and I wouldn't mind one bit if she did voice LadyHawke but I'm not actively hoping/campaigning for it. I like most of Bioware's choice for VO so hearing someone new in a main role allows me to discover a new love.
Well I did say once "Hale for all PC VO" or something to that effect. I was joking...I think

Why? Probably because I adore her voice (she'll always be Bastila Shan to me first and female Shepard second).
That said as long as voice acting is well done I won't really care who does it.

As much as I prefer femShep, I have to agree. Jen Hale does have quite a range, but I'd rather the two franchises remain as exclusive as possible.

I am saving this quote and will bring it up every time MHawke vs. FHawke discussion comes around
It is inevitable, right?

I think Jennifer Hale could do it justice. There's a reason she's so prolific, after all. would I have wished for it to be Jennifer Hale if I was a player? i would say no, simply because she's so prolific, I would like to hear other actors.
I would too. She does an awesome job as Commander Shepard. However, I would like another actress to voice Marian Hawke (my heroine).

I'm 99% sure Belinda Cornish is the voice of Lady Hawke. She was born and raised in London and did voice work for both ME and DA:O. She meets all the qualifications.
I would quite love this.

So I take it this will be a never-ending debate just like Meer vs. Hale then? Hoboy.

I do too, and I also think it could be Tricia Helfer from ME2 (although Canadian). But I need to remember a friend of mine told me that Mr. Gaider stated Marian Hawke's voice actress is British.

Do you know which characters she voiced in those games?

Personally, I think both voice actors did an excellent job. And I'm not just saying that to be diplomatic - I did most of my Cinematic Design work using Female Hawke, while my first playthrough was using Male Hawke, and both had some really strong moments.
Then again, I liked both Meer and Hale on ME for different reasons. So I think maybe I'm an aberration.
