I think the reason so many folks wanted Jennifer Hale is simply because we all know she's the best, and if she were doing the voice we'd be guaranteed awesomeness. If it's anybody else, we have to actually wait to hear the voice to know if its awesome, but with her we just have to hear 'Jennifer Hale is the VA' and we know awesomeness is coming .

Am I the only one getting sick of hearing Jennifer Hale everywhere? I mean sure, she's a great voice actress, no doubt about that. But having her in everything is getting to be a bit much. Are there no other female voice actresses looking for work?

Personally, I think both voice actors did an excellent job. And I'm not just saying that to be diplomatic - I did most of my Cinematic Design work using Female Hawke,  while my first playthrough was using Male Hawke, and both had some really strong moments.

Then again, I liked both Meer and Hale on ME for different reasons. So I think maybe I'm an aberration.

I slightly prefer Hale but Meer did a fine job as well. I just meant that this will probably become a "thing" on the boards the same way Hale vs. Meer is. You know, up there with "what is an RPG?" and the relative merits of ME1 vs. ME2.

The can of worms will be opened on the 11th I bet, and no power in the 'verse can stop it.

No, it's not just you. I like Hale, but I'm really happy she's not Lady Hawke. Elsewise every time she opened her mouth I'd do a double take expecting her to be wearing power armor and punching disingenuous reporters.

Oh, I'm not saying the VA on those characters was bad, just that I didn't really like either of them much.

Doesn't really help me to imagine what female Hawke will sound like, but at least I know the voice actress will do a good job.

Hale did another English accent in BG2 (Mazzy Fentan) and sounds completely different than Bastila.

Hale did Mazzy? Damn, she's talented. I knew she did some voice work for BG series but I would have never recognized her for Mazzy's voice.

Bastila was nice work as well but I'd still rather have someone fresh to do LadyHawke. As good as Hale is there are other great voice actresses out there. Also both Bastila and Mazzy have this very clean standard british accent, which is probably due to it being fake. While it does fit those characters well, I'd like Hawke to have just a little bit of grit and flavour to her speech. Thus I'm glad we'll be getting a native brit actress (whoever she is).

I'm quite attached to the idea that they have actually cast a Welsh actress to play Merrill so I'm hoping Cornish isn't voicing her. From what others have said if she is voicing anyone else it is probably Aveline.

And to clarify my earlier post, Jennifer Hale is awesome but she also voices a helluva lot of different characters all over the place and I think performing both female leads in the current Bioware franchises (plus she's in TOR) would be a overkill.

With the added spice that Mark Meer and Belinda Cornish are a couple last I heard, they could ignore the endless debate about which of them voices Bioware characters better together!

Just thinking, did Gaider actually confirm that fem!hawke's VA was in DAO? I remember watching the interview and I'm more-or-less certain he said he was unsure. The only certainty was that she was in ME as a minor character.

Just thinking that maybe there are more options than merely Belinda Cornish.

The only other option would be Dr. Chakwas VA I believe unless Gaider meant the ME series and not just the first game.
