So do we know anything about whether or not the announced demo will have a femHawke option? Sorry if this has already been asked, I'm kind of just interval-lurking this particular thread.

Nothing's been announced, but if it's anything like the demo they have been showing, then yes.  She will be an option.

I'm guessing yes.

Just thinking, did Gaider actually confirm that fem!hawke's VA was in DAO? I remember watching the interview and I'm more-or-less certain he said he was unsure. The only certainty was that she was in ME as a minor character.
Just thinking that maybe there are more options than merely Belinda Cornish.

The only other option would be Dr. Chakwas VA I believe unless Gaider meant the ME series and not just the first game.

Hmmm, okay. I don't really mind who it is as long as they're good. :D I just wondered if we were narrowing our options too much. Are there other options you can think of if he meant ME as a series?

I agree, otherwise it would seem that BC is another cat outta the bag, just as the demo was :innocent:

btw: if you don't mind, which interview were you referring to with DG? I know I missed an audio one sometime over the last two months, perhaps it was in that?

Well, a lot of people managed to guess that M!Hawke's VA was Nick Boulton (okay, it hasn't been officially stated, but c'mon listen to the guy) long before hearing him. Forumites have a knack for sussing VAs. i mean, Gaider actually stated he wasn't going to tell us what accent Fenris has because we'd guess his VA in a matter of seconds. I'm actually pretty hopeless at sussing VAs unles they're really obvious (like Simon Templeman =P).

RE: the interview, I'm 99% certain it was one of the PAX Q&A videos (you can find the links in the 'What do we know' thread near the top of teh sources section). I cna't remember which interview it was, though.

I'm no good at sussing actual VA's but this BW select bunch are becoming quite familiar. Hence the intrigue about whether or not Marian's VA was in either Origins or any of the ME games.

This is becoming an obsession for me because I find voices and accents more attractive than looks so I am going insane with curiosity.  Maybe it's time to take up crocheting or something lol.

Thanks for the tip, going to find that interview now :)

That makes sense. You can change Hawke's look to suit you, but you can't change how she sounds. When I tried playing Mass Effect (which constantly crashed my computer so I never got past the first mission) FemShep's voice really grated on me. Or maybe it was more how her head seemed to animatronically swing after her eyes turned to look at the person she was speaking to. It really annoyed me... But no, she sounded really gruff, like she was purposely lowering her voice to make it sound more manly. I hope Lady Hawke doesn't sound gruff like that.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no rabid FemShep fans.

I can see that being an issue. I think she was trying to sound more hardened or masculine because shepard is some sort of space marine, and everyone who has seen the movie Aliens knows all female space marines need to be as butch as possible.

But then she inexplicably goes through a sex change whenever she talks to Jacob, so I don't know what happened there. Maybe it's because he doesn't sparkle like that Edward twithead. Wait...wrong medium.

I wasn't sure about Shep's voice either at first, and they are certainly still lines that make me cringe, but the longer I played the more I got used to it. Now I can't imagine anyone else doing it.

I doubt Hawke's voice will be anything like it though. I'm hoping for strong but still feminine.

That's actually how my voice sounds, so I guess that's one more reason I could relate to femshep. I don't know if she is purposely lowering her voice or if that's how it sounds. I'm not familiar with her other voice work.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if I'll have the same feelings about Lady Hawke as I do about femshep. With femshep it really wasn't that much of jump, so I could easily relate to her. I'll have to see if it's the same with Hawke because I definitely don't have a British accent.

There's an interview w/ Jennifer Hale somewhere on the internet where she does femShep and you suddenly realize it's not far off from her actual voice. Yeah, the Jacob romance is terrible. I agree.

Eudaemonium:

Just watched an epic 1.5 hour PAX interview with David Gaider (it was in 3 parts). I learnt so many fascinating facts and trivia about DA, DA:O and DA2 but he didn't cover anything about who is going to voice Marian. No hints. He did touch on how complex the entire VA segment of production is. And I saw DG shimmy (at the end of http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/9380182 lolol :) Too cute!

Edit: shizz I just found part 4 :o
Edit 2: which had nothing again to do with Marian's possible VA wahhhh

I have a question for one of the Devs, if a Dev would care to answer it.

Mr. Gaider said he was sure we'd hear Lady Hawke before the release of the game. My question is, will we hear Lady Hawke before the release of the demo on the 22nd? And I mean an officially released clip, not a leaked clip from a Gamespot employee who got the demo on the 11th (not that Bioware can really control what GS employees do, I'm just asking about official "Yes, we planned this" footage.)

Thanks.

I remember back when I first played ME, I too took a little while to warm up to FemShep's voice. For maybe the first hour or so of the game, I was thinking it would've been nicer if FemShep and Ashley's voices were switched. But the more I played, the more I saw how perfect it really fit (compared to the one and only time I played as MaleShep, whose voice started bad and stayed bad). So yeah, sometimes you have to give it a little time, especially when you're dealing with somebody as incredibly talented as Jennifer Hale, gotta give her voice a chance to grow on you, because she does such an extremely wide range of voices. I never EVER would've guessed she also did Bastilla, FemShep sounded completely different to me.

I think you should address it to the devs c/o Mr Stanley Woo because he seems to be the only active BW staff member on this thread now. And he gave us a hug to boot!

We have been forgotten by the devs :crying:

I would hope we would get a dev diary tommorrow... or later today if your on the east coast like I am..with some of LadyHawke as well as other characters whom we haven't heard speak much( note to devs... NOT Isabela again...lol)...that would do us ALL a world of wonder and good!

edit: is only going off of the hunch from earlier today in this thread...
