Well I don't know about Hawke, but I certainly have found something for me to scream at the game when I fail miserably in Nightmare mode...

Also...realy glad to hear that LadyHawke's voice acting is solid. I know there's a lot of complaint about how the FemCharacter seems to get the shaft in marketing, however if FemShep is any indication of Bioware's commitment to getting some great acting for their female protagonist they I'm not worried in the slighest. /gush

I know they get phenomenal female voice acting (I  Jennifer Hale ) and then they don't promote it at all.  Does not compute!:pinched:

I totally get the idea of iconic marketing but at least a little something on the website tucked into a corner....Jennifer Hale has said repeatedly in interviews that Femshep does not get near enough marketing.   You can argue that we/I know nothing about the industry but Hale has been apart of it for 20 years.

Well, regarding the iconic marketing. I'd say if gaming as a whole wants to establish itself as entertainment  alongside the cinema, they'd better learn not only to tailor their marketing to the typical teen CoD player, even though that's maybe were the fast money is. Why hide features like a customizable main character - including gender choice, which very likely has also a broad appeal to many gamers that are _sick and tired_ of the stereotypical young male lead hero?
/rantoff
I guess they don't need to advertise FemHawke to us, as we know she's there, and we know in a week her voice. And since I know FemShep/FemHawke are only treated by the marketing like the lesser choice, but not by the developers, I can live with it, since the latter is after all the thing that does matter.
What the point in hiding their voice actors in general like a secret is - I don't get it, after all some of them, like in ME2 are celebrities - and could very likely generate addional interest in the game.

I worship Hale as a voice acting goddess. It is a damn shame that so many people just play through as IconicShep and never get to hear her nuanced voicework as FemShep. I hope the same thing doesn't happen to LadyHawke.

I would fall under the line as playing only as the male shep...but I did play(and rather enjoyed the hell out of) playing female wardens ( of all origins except dwarf noble) in DA:O. I right now as a male gamer and really interested in hearing LadyHawke's voice and how she sounds as that will probadly dictate to me how I'm going to roleplay the character...which for me when it comes to playing females is a rather difficult thing to do...even more so than playing a female as any particular class.

You really would think that they'd get it, after positive response to femShep, a strong following for Alistair as romantic option in Origins, etc.  And what is this with Dead Space, "your mom hates this game"?  What kind of stupid slogan is that?  It seems they are stuck in certain formulas.

DS2 is kinda the height of bizarrely immature marketting. That said, I'm actually glad I only saw the DAO marketting  after playing and completing the game. If I'd seen it before I dunno if I would have picked it up. I just fodn it so bizarre, since I think the game I played was a completely different game to the one they were advertising.

That depends, would someone who doesn't follow this thread know how badly we want LH? It may be on you to provide for us!

I know how badly you guys want to hear her! Barring any unforeseen complications (like my demo code doesn't work or something) I promise to record LH speaking for you guys on Feb 11. :wizard:

You rock, Minxie!

Just keep in mind that *IF* you manage to grab some LH footage with her speaking that wherever you upload it to, DON'T POST THE LINK HERE.

We all know what happens when word of unauthorized footage gets out. It gets pulled or shut down, and we don't want that happening.

So, *IF* you get it, just PM the link to us. And we'll pass it around amongst ourselves (since we seem to be the only ones who care so much about it, anyway.)

Here's hoping that Lady Hawkes voice is to die for.

Ugh, that is one of the worst marketing campaigns ever. What kind of insecure manchild would buy a game because some old ladies were startled by it?

I don't mean to offend anyone, but I've played as Jane Shep before and frankly... I don't find her "forced-badass" James Kirk style of voice acting that ground breaking.

She sounded just fine as Bastila Shan or Mazzy Fentan though. Now that would be kinda fitting for Marian. Sort of.

Ah well, different strokes for different folks I guess?

There is consensus between us. I found FemShep's portrayal to simply be overtly gravelly and angry, however I've gone back to see enough clips that I can understand and respect people's interest in her.

Still guys, let's give the Male voice actors a break. I really don't think they're as catastrophic as the forum seems to portray them.

LMAOOOOOO! In both cases!

Also, I too never saw any of the origins ads...including the urn of sacred ashes one...til I played and finished the game as well...though I probadly still would have bought it...since I waited til after release and watched a few gameplay videos of people playing through the human noble origin on youtube...

edit: Whomever works in EA's marketing needs to be FIRED like yesturday...because that is some of the most idiotic marketing strategy I have EVER EVER heard of!

I thought that only for footage from cons and other events? Footage of you playing an offically released game/demo is okay I think? No different than all the game footage already on youtube surely.

Reviewers have to take into account  that they can not simply spoil everything, and most likely have some sort of contract in what they can and can not share. The "pre-demo" at Gamestop *definitely* has an NDA (till the demo is fully public). Breaking that isn't the smartest of actions, I think.

Mr Woo, we wondering if we could ask you to prod and poke some of your colleagues into action. Can they give us *anything* a sound file, a a/v clip, a date? A borked promise? A promise of a promise? Preferably something before the 11th Feb - that is so incredibly far away......

We've been waiting so long! This is officially a S.O.S

God, I hate that commercial. Especially in America where there are trials going on about the content of video games. We want video games to be considered an art form and then we come up with a commercial that specifically advertises the disgusting, worthless parts of a game. Then we show it to the people who are always complaining about video game violence, thus proving their point.

It's so stupid, yeah your mom will hate this. If you're playing a mature rated game you shouldn't still think it's cool to offend your mom.

I'd like to see if we could show them the most emotional scenes in Mass Effect and see if that would make them cry, that would be interesting

Anyway, glad the female version has been confirmed for the demo. At least I know we'll be getting to hear Lady Hawke's very soon.

So tell us more....how was the voice?
