As long as the tizzy is about gender politics and marketing, i can not participate in this thread. If we're still talking about LadyHawke voice acting and how awesome she is, then I can. Sorry, kind of a resolution this year.Ninotchka wrote...
We are still at about the 'rational' level of tizzy about an issue that's tizzyworthy.

Also it's insulting to say that we're "tizzying".
We've been asking and we've been waiting patiently for many months.
Sorry, I'm the one that used the word tizzy, Stan's just quoting me. I think.

Having said that, its clear to me that Bioware decided that this is not an important issue. Or maybe that releasing a demo in which they also include the Lady Hawke, is more than enough.
EITHER WAY, I think that hammering a point which I absolutely agree with, only serves the purpose of adding salt to the wounds. Though I share the frustration wholeheartedly, I'm not into self-flagelation.
Lets hope that in a week someone can post some footage of her somewhere. I'll be thrilled I'm sure. I'll drink to that. :-)
Stanley: You are indeed a funny guy... One thing is to say "You're not getting her voice, live with that..." Im perfectly OK with that. The other is to "recommend" us to talk about "her awesome voice " when there is none. Are you just "funny" or just mocking us?

I've been using the word "tizzy" all week to describe some of the "excitement" we've seen recently, so perhaps we're quoting each other.namedforthemoon wrote...

Really! It doesn't have to go into gender politics if we see atleast more marketing for female hawke.
Seriously and it's not like we're fighting for the cover and blur trailer.
We want a single maybe 30 second clip.

More importantly, does she make the dolphins cry?

In all seriousness, if I ever had a chance to, I would definitely like to have conversation about gender politics in marketing with someone in the business, particularly someone who markets games that are both male and female oriented. It really doesn't effect me too much. I know that I'll get great female characters from Bioware games. But I do feel like it is limiting Bioware's overall market for continuing in this way.
Perhaps, there's more research that I'm not aware of. Like a game that totally bombed because the company marketed both protagonists.

Live is one of my favourite bands. And i think LadyHawke's voice will make you run to the water. in my opinion, Merrill's voice makes the dolphins cry (in a ood way, of course).namedforthemoon wrote...

I think one of the Dev put Jade Empire as that reason.
Though I blame it on the setting.
It's a mythical Chinese game with kungfu. Already that's a small niche.
Though that game is the most underrated game ever.

Well, there are games that did not that well - and had a female lead. Mirror's Edge comes to mind. Even though a possible sequel to that one is still up in the air, afaik - and I've no idea if Faith was the reason ME did somewhat poorly. On the other hand, there are dozens of games that bombed, and had the typical male lead. Since there are movies (of any possible genre) that did well with a female lead, why should games be any different?
*Edit* And, in BioWare's case, we aren't even talking about a female lead, "just" a co-lead.

Everytime somebody says big strong manly man
I think of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast.
