Everyone:

Just what the subject line indicates.

Specifically, the part involving where you go inside the volcano to retrieve the scientists' information. Upon retrieval of said information, the visual whackery begins when you reboard the transport and attempt to flee the erupting volcano.

I attempted multiple times to complete this quest, and all failed with the the aforementioned corruption. Insofar as I can tell, none of my other saves are affected, so I'll just go back to an earlier one (I'll lose roughly 20 minutes of time; a bargain, compared to others). Still, this *major* bug makes it impossible to complete this particular mission.

It's the first screwup on Bioware's part that I've encountered with ME2. The only clue I can offer troubleshooters is, I noticed the "save" icon seemingly stuttered momentarily each time just before the visual whackery (both in-game and in the menus) popped up.

Bioware, as they undoubtably already know, should be well-advised to fix this, as well as other, serious problems folks are experiencing with ME2. Best of luck with that, QA team.

Not meaning to sound dumb, but are you basically stating it screws up the auto-save? From what you've written it doesn't sound like the usual 'whole save file' corruption that other people have been experiencing but just one particular save. If that's the case I'll go play it just to confirm if I can get the same result you did. Also what exactly was the 'visual whackery'?

Just the 'techy' side of me kicking in and figuring the kind of questions I figure Bioware would ask for better definition of what is going on ;)

Huh! I didn't have any problem.

(Just another data point.)

No, it didn't corrup the entire save file. Hmm. I think it just goofed up the autosave point; I deleted it, along with the most recent save I had in that particular mission and restarted from a save based on the Normandy. The game worked fine afterward, as I completed the krogan retrieval mission with no problems whatsoever.

By visual whackery, I mean the colors were all off, big time, making it impossible to see where you were going. Sound effects were fine, though.

I'm not sure what triggered the problems on my end. If it helps, on the multiple times I tried to complete the mission, it did display properly and worked fine; but then I missed a jump and plunged into the lava. After it started that mission segment again (escaping the erupting volcano), it didn't work, period. On either side of the "normal" experience I had, there was the aforementioned visual whackery.

After making a save just before attempting this mission, I went to go through it and didn't experience any issues with it. Went on to do some of the other firewalker missions, only one not done yet is Prothean Ruins. One place I am finding terrible visually is the main 'Hammerhead' area of Overlord (the area after you leave 'Hermes Station' ). The ground in that area is so pixellated with the bushes popping up as get close and the Hammerhead sometimes sinking into the ground.

If I get time tonight, I'll give that leg of the mission another go, just to see if the issue pops up again. Another poster has also mentioned encountering this issue in another topic thread.

The 'visual whackery' happend to me, too. All I did was save, quit back to the ps3 os and restart and everything loaded fine, no corruption.
