Will do new game+ I suppose. Already level 28, was hoping to just jump to level 30 quickly, get the platinum and move on to Deadspace 2!
I wonder if all the freezing (had the game lock up many times before I disabled network) had anything to do with it.
Bioware really should just change the parameters of the trophy to be beating the last section on Insanity like it was (so I read) for 360. That way their stupid bugs won't cause an issue.

Bah you've got more patience than me, I pretty much gave up on trying to get some of the tougher FFXIII trophies, the one you mentioned included. Namely because despite following all the guides people have done about taking them damn turtles out I just always had a hard time with it and just don't have the patience to do that. I used to play ME2 on PC on normal difficulty but when came to PS3 I decided I was going to have a go at insanity for the trophy and having played the demo on said level I got to liking iit and my 'Sentinel' run will be my Insanity run as I've grown to love that class in ME2.Shiratori wrote...
Skyline: Yeah it was a kick in the teeth since I was playing it originally nice and slow, unlocking everything in 1 run through (except Power Gamer obviously) and just trying to enjoy the full experience of everything. Then I find out I have to do it all over again But it wasn't horrible, just frustrating since I had done it on the PC and never thought changing characters would affect it. Incidentally, it was actually easier going through it starting from Level 1 rather than 26 (but most people already know that) but at least I enjoyed the fully stocked Kasumi/Zaeed tandem.
Sir Ulrich: Definitely just concentrate on the Insanity run by itself. Just don't let the Husks surround you. And thanks. Even having to do Insanity twice, it still was far less frustrating than something stupidly tedious like "Treasure Hunter" (Trapezohedrons. Pssh.) Good luck with your runs.
As for Power Gamer, I got that with my first character on PS3
I got it by leaving most of the N7 missions and DLC till after the end and only had 10 squadmates going into the Suicide Mission with only 6 of their loyalty missions done, the 2 squadmates I left out were Thane and Kasumi who I recruited after, so got the extra xp for them as well as their loyalty missions and that of the other 4 I had unloyal. I could if I had wanted got the 'no one left behind' trophy but I had intended for a squadmate to die, so didn't. The only DLC I did pre-SM was LotSB, I left Overlord, Firewalker and Normandy Crash Site till after.
Technically I could've probably recruited Thane and got him loyal pre-SM and still made it to 30. Funniest thing is, my 'Insanity' Shep won't get to 30 because I'm specifically avoiding some of the loyalty missions to make it a 'worse playthrough' (well not worst, as that would mean Shep dead

I'm very worried about this, if I play through insanity for a second time and the trophy doesn't unlock then I may just have to sucker punch a small child.

There is really nothing that needs to be fixed. Just be weary to not change to an easier difficulty or switch to a career that was being played on an easier difficulty while going for this. It is good to know about the latter and with knowing that it sounds simple enough.

True but their are people who have finished insanity without changing characters or changing difficulty and still have problems, this is what I'm worried about. If I finish the game on insanity (without changing characters or difficulty) and the trophy doesn't unlock, then I believe thats something that does need fixing.
Thought it is an easy workaround (about not loading another character) the point stands that we shouldn't have to worry about that in the first place. For example, right now I cant continue my insanity run because of constant freezing on a certain part of the game, a good idea would be too start a new save with a new character, perhaps on a lower difficulty to tie me over until the patch comes but I can't do this because of the problems with the trophy.

There may be a different bug because i did neither of those things and insanity trophy did not unlock for me.
Insanity set from the start, no other characters created. Didn't even enter the config menu until after i beat the game (which I only did to verify insanity difficulty was enabled, it was).
THAT is a bug that needs fixing.

On the run through where I did get it, I skipped getting Tali and Samara, didn't loyal Mordin, Grunt (still in the tank), Legion (sold him), or Garrus. Never did Shadow Broker, Overlord, or any of the Hammerhead missions. So it doesn't matter what missions you do between the start of the game and shooting down the Termin... er, Human Reaper. Just all of that has to be on Insanity.

First time playing Mass Effect 2. So I was just wondering, when I start a NG+ can I still keep my other playthrough by creating the NG+ on a different save? Then I can choose which one I'd like to transfer to Mass effect 3. Thanks. And to clarify: just start and continue missions on Insanity till the suicide missions? Don't need to finish all the DLC/Loyalty missions?
All that matters for the trophy is the suicide mission. If you just run through and do only necessary quests, you can still get the trophy.

No you don't have to do Overlord. But it does have to be set to Insanity when you start the game.
Yeah but it's worth noting that overlord HELPS, if you can do it. The damage reduction bonus versus fighting david as a boss......tough call.
Also is it just me, or does david take only 1 hit when his armor is gone?

I'm also in a very frustrating position, the game is constanty freezing for me during Tali's recruitment (right around the time were you fight a Geth Prime and alot of Recon Drones) and I'm about 12 hours into insanity, I just hope the upcoming patch fixes this otherwise I'll have to start over.

I'm sure bioware will fix this somehow, Treberto you've been very unlucky there I hope a patch can fix the issue and then unlock the trophy for you. That way you don't have to do it all over again.

At least your save didn't get corrupted like mine did. I was just past horizon and had gotten through overlord.

My game froze constantly there. I must have beaten it about 10 times before it finally didn't freeze.
One thing I did was turn off my ps3s network/unplug the internet connection. After I did that it did not freeze at that part. Might be worht a shot if you're still stuck.

Thanks dude but I already tried that, when I thought it was going to last alot longer and not freeze it froze, that was boiling point I've not touched it since.

When I switched back to my insanity game, I changed the difficulty back to insanity on the main menu -> Extras -> Options prior to loading the save.
The insanity run was not my first playthrough. (I thought I had to beat it on hardcore first, for some reason)

I'm also trying to redo Insanity under a different account to see if there's an issue where it won't unlock the first time through the game. I'm redoing my speed run parameters so the only things that should unlock are Mission Accomplished, Against All Odds, Insanity, and Long Service Medal. I'm taking a much slower pace to my speed run though. Kinda hard to get up for this yet again, but at least I'm being a Soldier this time. When in doubt, shoot.
Would love to hear the results on that when you're done. I'm putting off doing a second playthrough as I don't want to beat it again on Insanity and not get the trophy. I love the game but I have other games to play and beat!
It wouldn't surprise me if it couldn't unlock on your first run, to be honest. I got 3 different trophies when I beat the game, Insanity would have been 4 in one shot. I thought it was weird that Insanity was unlocked from the start. Most games make you beat the game once to unlock the hardest difficulty. Was insanity open from the start for 360/ps3?

If you look at your trophy list, because Shadow Broker, Kasumi and Overlord are in the Retail version - they count towards Platinum - only Zaeed is a non platinum as it is a download mission. You'll also notice there's no Shadow Broker on Insanity, check all the Shadow Broker terminals or Shadow Broker Assassin trophies
Yeah, I saw that too. Why did they do that? Hopefully it won't affect future achievements & trophies.

Did you play any other characters not on Insanity difficulty over the course of the game? There are differences in the PS3 version of how data is stored, and difficulty level is no longer saved with a specific game (but uses the global setting). That would be my guess.
I hope that isn't the case because that would be completely stupid.
That would turn out to be exactly the case as I just finished re-running through the whole thing again on Insanity (with many shortcuts and otherwise skipped missions). And...
*Ding* - Insanity
*Ding* - N7 Elite
I'll update my first post and the title just to give a heads up to everyone.
Thanks for the tip Fran.
Thanks for the heads up. Basically means once I get to attempting insanity, no fooling around with any other playthroughs until the insanity playthrough is finished.
