In December 2010, I was invited to sing at a very small geek event, mostly Japan related, as a performing guest. The idea was to give a small and quiet concert, just me and a pianist, also a friend, performing mostly music from videogames. Being a diehard BioWare fan, I had to sing Leliana's Song. I think I'd die a little if I didn't. The concert was filmed, for better or for worse, and I come to share it in the enchanted world of the interwebs.

First of all, the video isn't very flattering. I know it. Also, the performance has suffered terribly. But there was a reason for it. As anyone can hear, the backnoise is immense. The public who was there, at the event was, for the most part, an incredibly disrespectful bunch, whose activities ranged from simply overlapping loud talking from popping baloons while we were on stage. The cameramen was lucky enough to be positioned in front of a sound column, which means we can actually be heard on the video. We weren't so lucky on stage. In the beggining I am speaking in a rather strange fashion, both from the continuous stress of being ignored and from trying to hear myself, even with a microphone. Thus, the performance ended up suffering with it and I feel like I couldn't fully deliver the edge and the haunt such a beautiful song deserved. But it was done. And so, I'm sharing it with my fellow BioWare fans.

The video starts at 1:15, for those who want to skip the useless part.

Hope you enjoy it!

Really pretty! I'm sorry your audience was so disrespectful. Would you consider re-recording it in a quiet room so we could hear your beautiful voice better?

Hey, nice one.

I liked your interpretation. It wasn't just a carbon copy, you stamped it with your own sound. Pitch good. Phrasing great. Vibrato at the ends of phrases beautiful.

That is a beautiful song, hey? Thanks for the chance to re-experience it.

Thank you, people, for your meanigful and kind reviews. It is a beautiful song indeed, and it was a pleasure to rediscover it as well. Even though the part of the game where it appears, strikes most players as being quite awkward, the song itself is extremely beautiful. Also, even though the concert didn't go that well and my mood wasn't exactly there (which reflected in certain parts), it was worth it, in my book.

I might consider that, yes!:) I would just need my party member and better equipment!

Heh, that was great, for the exception of the live noise. I could see and hear your frusteration but you still did an amazing job performing. I too put a vote in for a non live version. *hugz*
