FIrst, like i posted in another comment i apologize for having a stick up my ass, and im not trying to act like a jackass but dragon age does **** them over, only 2 dwarven cities, constant darkspawn threat, and i cant honestly say if dwarves get ****ed in warcraft, warhammer, D&D or dwarf fortress but this was the first time i really saw elves get screwed

That doesn't mean they're going extinct. There are no elven cities.

As someone else mentioned, Dwarf Commoner is probably the happiest Origin. None of your family dies. You are moved from the slums to the royal family, if you choose. You form a Paragon house. Bhelen is by far the better ruler, so you don't even need to feel guilty about picking him.

Dwarves don't have it that bad. More than that, how does that affect who you choose in your first playthrough? Most people only play once. They're not going to know what happens to each dwarf character.

I've only ever played the Human origins (moreso Noble than Mage).

But my brother has a thing for the Elves.

I had a Dalish Rogue, Elven Mage, and a Human Noble and an extra City Elf ranger who I only used for Awakening.

I only played Noble to marry Alistair...

I wonder if they take into account all created characters or just ones that finish the game? I have probably a half-dozen to ten human nobles. Why? Because I make them and then get bored before I can even finish the intro, then when I decide to give it another shot a few months later, I make a new one.

Acknowledging that you apologized,, I still find this kind of strange.  I thought it very refreshing that Dwarves got a more interesting culture than the elves in Dragon Age, with a far more interesting storyline. (The elven storyline was ok, but nothing special ... aside from the repetition in parts of the deep roads, I thought the Dwarven storyline had some of the best story and best boss fights in the entire game)  I loved the political nature of Dwarven society in Dragon Age that made dwarves so much more than your stereotypical gruff stone hugging miners. (though they still had that aspect too)

Normally I'm not a big fan of Dwarves (or forest elves) in crpgs, but they were my favorite race in DA. (dwarves that is, I still wasn't fond of the Dalish)

On the topic of Balen, by the way ... I always supported him when I played a Dwarf, purely for IC reasons.  As a noble, I figured he simply played the game better than I did and couldn't really fault him for that, and as a commoner I had a vested interest in seeing him become king for family reasons. (on the other hand, I typically supported Harrowmount when I played any non-dwarf warden)

Mary has suggested that exactly what's happening with the regular dwarf population. There are apparently more surface dwarves than underground dwarves, however, and they seem to be doing well.

I thought the recent poll I made was pretty funny in this regard. Seeing so many, many Human Noble votes.
Personally I don't mind playing either Human or Elf. As long as I'm not forced to a Dwarf, I'll be fine.

Or worse... Qunari. :?

The dwarf origins were my favorite.

It was so awesome to hear that my commoner got elevated to paragon after sacrificing herself.

I see what your saying, quick question though, what percent did elves get? how about this, how about humans get ****ed. maybe the dwarven player community and the elven player community can combine and request a dwarven and a elven playable character, i now its too late now but maybe as DLC? kinda like with starcraft 2 how the terrian campaign was the first one available then the others came later.

well to explain the strangeness, basically where i live the general consensus is that dwarves suck, but i like dwarves as you can tell, so i feel the need defend the awesomeness that is dwarves, so when i saw (and yes i only just found out) that only 5% of people completed the campaign as dwarves and thats the reason their not putting dwarves in dragon age 2 i kinda...got pissed to say the least... that and im getting sick and tired of games (and im talking about regular RPG's not MMORPG's like world of warcraft and warhammer) of being of the human race i dont know about you... and the reason i dont count warcraft or warhammer is cause i dont like the idea of paying evey month or so to play one game. paying for xbox live? makes sense to play multiple games online, but just one doesnt seem......you get the idea
