I'm pretty sure in ME, both Kaidan and Ashley were supposed to be romance-able by a same sex Shepard... there was dialogue left in the game that supports this... but they removed it for whatever reason, which is really disappointing IMO.

In ME2 they did it again... there's unused dialogue that tells that originally Shepard could have same sex relationships with at least most of the LI's.... but again they cut it at the last minute which is really disappointing

Why did they do that? Twice? :(

Both Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale recorded the entire Shepard script, just to make sure they didn't miss anything. There is even a sound file of male Shepard saying he's a woman. So just because the files exist doesn't mean they planned M/M romance.

I don't know if everyone should be bisexual. In real life, not everyone is bisexual either. Yeah, it's a videogame, reallife rules don't apply.

But BioWare creates these characters, and they're created heterosexual. Deal with it. I can't romance Tali as FemShep, but I can accept BioWare made her straight. Now, I'll never play as MaleShep because I can't stand the guy, so I'm missing out on a great romance. My own choice, as I can always choose to play a different gender Shepard. You can too.

Almost everyone is straight. It would be kind of wierd if everyone on the Normandy was attracted to the same gender. Besides, if they had a man on man LI, FOX news would freak out and conjure up a group of goverment officials that would get the game pulled off the shelves of every store in the country.

Maybe by the 22nd century doctors have found a way to balance the level of hormones that a mother's fetus is exposed to in utero? I'd imagine that by the time of Mass Effect, we'd have conquered most biological mysteries. Other than that, all I can say is that this topic has been done to death. Femshep, by the way, can be bi if you choose to romance an asari.

This post must be edited before I read it as "AdmiralCheez, your bisexuality is a defect that needs to be cured."

And yeah, FemShep can be bi, but why not ManShep?  Oh, that's right, because girl-on-girl is hot, but guy-on-guy is gross.  [Insert rant about male-dominated gaming industry here.]

It's pretty simple. Somewhere in development, they decided to keep Shepard straight for the first installation, so he/she remained straight for the second.

And he/she will be straight in third one.

Shepard is a straight guy/gal. Face it. Deal with it.

The human ideal, saviour of the universe should not be gay anyways.

(Yeah, this is the moment you start giving me titles like racist, short-sighted, etc)

Ugh, who cares about what they say? One of the most moronic and unreliable and biased news sources EVER.

Besides, I don't see why your all arguing against me, what is wrong with having some man on man/ woman on woman love aboard the Normandy? Gee, I thought someone would be sympathetic.

I, for one, am agreeing with you.  "Fox News" was my way of highlighting the f*cktards "conservatives" who would make a big stink about it.

Blame Bioware for putting sex in the game, then.

Who the heck listens to FOX anyway or actually takes any of their BS seriously? More crap spews from their mouths than their butts. I ignore them, as everyone else should.

Is that so? What does being homosexual have to do with being "ideal" or "the saviour of the universe"?

Fem-Shep isn't "straight". She can romance Liara, which by all physical standards is a woman.

The first few pages of threads dealing with this topic are always nasty. But after a couple of pages trolls give up and it is possible to have a reasonable discussion.
And you are not alone with your view as is shown by the group in my sig with over thousand members.

That's your opinion and you are of course entitled to it.  I'll leave it at that for now.

There is a rather long debate about this already, and a forum group supporting same sex romances in ME.

That being said, Fox News didn't freak out about the m/m in Dragon Age, so that argument is kind of moot. I don't think Fox News is even stupid enough to try attacking Bioware's games again, given how much backlash they got for the ME fiasco.

aAso, one question:

Why must the savior of the galaxy be straight? Just asking.

well, if we speak of real life, we have people who are straight, people who are bi and people who are gay. straight people are basically a majority, sorry. in other words, the chances of one vessel having all bisexual characters are pretty darn slim, which means they would probably have to have twice as many characters just to cover all the romantic bases, or set up Mass Effect as the world where every human or alien is bisexual. they already created an entire race of monosexual beings. the only thing I'd change is make asari more androgynous looking, but then again, they are mammals and the way their reproduction is described, I have to grudgingly accept that them having feminine characteristic kinda makes sense :/ sorta.

edited to add. savior of the galaxy doesn't have to have a spesific sexual orientation, especialy since we get to personalize him or her as much as we do, but static characters however, cannot all be like Kelly Chambers.

Most, but not all.  Is it THAT hard to imagine ONE gay guy?
