I've got quite far in the original NWN campaign, will installing HotU and/or SoU at this stage affect my saved games? is there any risk of losing my progress or some other bugs coming up? This may sound stupid but I just wanted to be absolutely sure that I won't lose my progress in the original campaign. Are there any precautions I should take before installing expansion packs? Thanks!

Installing expansions will not affect your saved games. The only thing different that you may notice is that the prestige classes will now appear on character creation and level-up if your PC meets the requirements. Also, you may notice that cloaks look a bit different than with the basic NWN game. Also, there may be some new spells available IIRC.

Incidentally, the only stupid question is the one not asked.
