Shepard: Hey, don't you think we forgot something?
Wrex: Hmm... I think we left both Kaidan and Ashley on Virmire...
Shepard: dayum

Ashley was my favourite character in Mass Effect 1, but she isn't important to the overall story. Sad, but we'll have to deal with it.

Ash/Kaidan may not be important to the overall story, but they are important to Shepard's story. I understand that not everyone romanced them and not everyone likes them, but the simple fact is that they were written in as a romance, and a romance is important to the main character's story. They deserve to have an adequate ending one way or the other to the romance subplot particularly is this _is_ Commander Shepard's story and not simply the story of how the Reaper's almost perpetrated galaxy-wide genocide .... again.

I'm guessing that the bridging DLC will deal more with Cerberus and the Illusive Man than it will it the Virmire survivor.

Liara as the most powerful information broker in the galaxy makes TIM no longer needed. Even if you roleplayed a Shepard who is loyal to Cerberus, you'd be stupid to trust TIM over Liara. Short of being indocrtinated Liara would never betray you. So Liara providing you information in ME3 rather than TIM is a no brainer. With that in mind I think the bridging DLC is going to set up a scenario where Shepard and company part ways with Cerberus, no doubt after TIM screws you over again in some way.

Well I thought about why Ashley/Kaiden acted like a douche to you and i come up with a simple answer. Its all Human Nature people, think of the mind set they were in.

1st- They thought you have been dead for 2 years now

2nd- They find your working with Cerberus, an enemy of the Alliance so to speak.

3rd- They are human and they are Alliance soldiers.

If you factor all that in, it all comes down to trust. They thought you were dead and when they heard you were with Cerberus. That news didnt sit well with them and they jumped to conclusions. They thought you been alive the whole 2 years working with Cerberus and your death was a cover story(like some have said here). So you really need to earn their trust back, they are only human. Remember as human yourself, trust is something that can easily be lost but must always been earned.

I strongly believe your outcome of Mass Effect 2 depending if you favored the Alliance more than Cerberus on those certain missions when given a chance will result in them coming back in Mass Effect 3 on your side. Remember when you see them on Horizon, your only a traitor in their eyes.

I can see a possible storyline that wouldn't change too much depending on whether it's Ashley or Kaiden. They're working with Anderson/Udina to investigate Cerberus, after all, so it's possible for the next DLC to be Alliance vs. Cerberus.

However. I think it wouldn't make so much sense. Right now, we're at a "pause point" between games. There needs to be a bridge, and that bridge will have to believably lead into Mass Effect 3's story. And honestly, I can't see how an Alliance vs. Cerberus DLC naturally leads from one to the other.

When they announced 'bridging dlc' I assumed there would be more than one. It seemed implied. LotSB was wonderful, but KAIDAN AND ASHLEY ARE STILL MISSING BIOWARE. GET WITH THE ****ING PROGRAM.

There's still loads of time before ME3, Shavon. But if they did keep Ash and Kai for ME3 (and did other things with the bridging DLC) I'm sure it would be to give them something awesome in the final game. Worry not!
