Exactly, humans would lose their council position and would be pushed down to second class citizens.

Only if you sacrifice all the Alliance star fleets by rushing to save Earth, instead of holding back and striking at the right moment.

Which is exactly what the Allaince would do, "sacrifice all the Alliance star fleets by rushing to save Earth."

Why would they?

What's the point in having an Alliance fleet that wont protect the biggest population center of the Alliance?

I'd be like the U.S. Navy sailing off to the Indian Ocean with some aggressor nation with a superior navy (unrealistic I know but for the sake of argument) sending an invasion fleet to our shores.

I understand the concept of running away to live to fight another day and in some military situations it'sadvisable and practical but there comes a time where you got to take a stand.  If the Alliance wont take a stand to fight for Earth, then what?

Because the Allaince consist of a bunch stupid bureaucratic retards who can't make a good decision if their life depended on it.

My Shepard was born and raised in earth. It's the only true family he has (humanity) and will die defending it if neccesary.

Lol. Stupid bureacratic retards usually smarten up quicky, when it comes to profeteering from a war. In other words, saving Earth must be economically lucrative for the Alliance (just like trading with it). If it is not, then it's better to sacrifice Earth to defeat the Reapers at a lower cost, and invest the saved capital elsewhere.

That Admiral who inspects the Normandy SR1 in ME1 struck me as some old school big gun battleship type that was always ready to fight the last war as carrier planes were diving on his fleet of battleships.  Admiral Hacket seems to be a forward thinker at least.

My Shep isn't so attached to Earth that he'd sacrifice himself for it, though my Shep is a somewhat self-centred individual who'd only sacrifice for 3 things (2 of which are principles and one of which is a person).  So if it's save Earth or die I'm sorry but that backwater slum (as I believe Anoleis refers to it) is going down.

The Alliance will become only stronger if the Earth is lost but the colonies remain untouched.

LOL.

Near Genocide... it's good, right?  It can only strengthen you.

Well you know; whatever doesn't kill you, etc, etc.

Now I think losing Earth could cause problems because we've never been big on cooperation as a species and I can just see the colonies fracturing apart and getting picked off one by one without a central authority and their guns.  Hmm I suppose that would fall into one of my two principles so I guess my Shep would sacrifice himself for Earth.

Part of me expects this to be a huge decision in ME3.

Saving Earth vs. Saving the rest of the galaxy.

Question: Which would be Paragon, and which is Renegade?

There are 11 billion (give or take) humans on earth. Probably a bunch of other species also at this point. My Shepard is extremely attached to Earth since it's Mankinds symbol. It would be such a hard decision to sacrifice the Earth for the rest of the galaxy but I don't think that will be the case since the Reapers intent is to wipe out organic life in the entire galaxy, not just one species.

Honestly, If I was Commander Shepard I would wonder if humanity was even worth saving.
I would probally be like **** this and retire to a remote tropical planet with my LI and live happily ever after and simply laugh as galactic society is destroyed by the Reapers.

I have no attachment to Earth because ME1 and ME2 didn't spend any time making it significant beyond a place to scan for resources. I have no idea what ME's Earth is actually like for the time period that the game is set in. It will be up to seeing Earth in ME3 to ultimately decide its value to humanity and the overall mission. Personally I'm thrilled Earth has a role now in ME3 and can't wait to see what they've created, but I'm going into it with no pre-existing attachments to Earth. It simply wasn't significant until now.

I wouldn't get too excited about it, the ME trailers have a habit of not panning out.

ME1 - Noveria, Caleston choice: cut
ME2 - Legion as a significant character: cut (mostly)
ME3 - Earth being involved in some way: we'll have to see.

My shep has no personal attachment to Earth as such, but it's still Earth. The birthplace of Humanity and shep's race, so as such, he'll fight to the death defending it.

Also like DPSSOC said, BioWare is excellent at putting red herrings in their trailers and making of videos.

I can't believe the people saying they have no attachment to Earth. You are Shepard! You live in Earth, always have and always will. You don't care if it's destroyed? That logic is backwards. Forget what the OP put as a title. What do *YOU* think of Earth's peril?

I  would like to assume that in some way we finally set foot on Earth in this game or at least take part in some epic space battle above to defend it.  Even if it's just for the finish of the game in some victory parade though that may be inappropriate given the death toll mentioned in the trailer.  Kind of hard to havea "victory parade"  with millions if not billions to bury afterall.

BTW, I  like your sig.  LOL!  There's a variation of that which goes, "Build a man a fire and keep him warm for a day.  Set a man on fire and you keep him warm for life."

Chris Shepard: Colonist, Sole Survivor, Engineer, Paragon.
This Shepard would consider saving Earth the highest priority other than stopping the Reapers. Earth is a symbol for humanity if nothing else, and its loss would be a deathblow to moral throughout the colonies. If we can't protect the home-world, what can we do about the scattered colonies. Also, Earth is the prime source of colonists, and therefore the prime engine for continued expansion. If we loose Earth, the colonial population growth will be limited to only natural increase. Without Earth, the colonies will still grow, but expansion would be crippled.

Kimberly Shepard: Earth-born, Ruthless, Adept, Renegade.
This Shepard would consider saving Earth the highest priority other than stopping the Reapers for the simple emotional response that she's not going to let anyone mess with her home-planet and slaughter her people.

PS: I personally love Zulu's contributions to threads like these, even when they're wrong, because he is always a reliable devil's advocate, and presents his arguements in a logical fassion, even if the logic is sometimes flawed.
