How is Kelly's better? Some dialog, hug, fish fed, cabin dance. That is it. And as I said, the SM would make a romance scene difficult, but you can trigger the romance scenes with ME2 LI's after the SM anyway, so why couldn't Kelly have one?
It's better to me because I like the progressive build-up of romantic feelings and actually expressing affection.
The other romances all follow the same format. There's normal conversations, then Shepard has a trigger line that starts the romance, the next convo basically boils down to "Are you sure want to romance me? Yes? Okay, we will have sex later." and then there's a sex scene followed by cabin access.
Kelly has consistent flirting that builds over multiple conversations and leads to actual displays of affection. You get to hug her, you get to have an actual date with her, and she seems much more concerned about Shepard's well-being. It's awesome.
Why Kelly doesn't have a specific scene that fades to black and implies sex does not concern me. I think it's obvious my Shepard and Kelly are having sex from the context of everything that
is shown; I don't need a cheesy scene to tell me in order for it to be official.
