It's all in the title. I'd like a mix of buffs for melee combats and a few damage spells. Any advice are welcome as I usually play wizard/sorcerers.
Solo playing the motb campaign: Cleric or favored soul?

What do you mean by solo playing? Only you? Or only one character in the party (the spirit-eater)? I don't think motb allows you to leave its companions at home anymore than the OC did.

Cleric for more offensive casting (better spell DCs), Favoured Soul for more buffing/healing power.
With a FS you'll probably still want a cleric level or 2 for Divine Might and Divine Shield feats - to take advantage of all that Charisma.
Clerics on the other hand can ignore charisma and focus on Str & Wis... also have easier time fitting Stormlord into their builds.

Cleric:
1) Faster Spell Progression
2) One casting stat.
3) Can use Intuitive Attack from Kaedrin's class Pack to use Wisdom for both AB bonus and spell DC.
4) Domains give spells that FS cannot get like Stone Skin. Plus, more and better Domains in Kaedrin's class pack.
5) Can use Holy Warrior from Kaedrin's class pack for damage boost.
6) Free Heavy Armor Proficiency which you can use with Heavy Armor Optimization in Kaedrin's class pack.
7) Gets Storm lord sooner. With war and earth domains, can have the prereq feats at level 1.
Spontaneous casting is not all that special. It's a pain having to choose which spells you know. It's a pain being stuck with only the few spells that you know and not being able to change your spell book when you need it. It's a pain trying to swap out spells for better ones later.
Unless the DM likes to really make things interesting, at any level, there are only a few spells you prefer over others. But later on, your preferences change. Also, it's not unusual to want to know more than three different spells per level that the FS gets. With a cleric you can adapt to those changes easy.
If you want to forget about casting offensive spells and go for EDM instead, you still have the advantage of having an easier spell book to manage, Holy Warrior, faster spell progression, domains, Heavy Armor Proficiency, heavy armor optimization, and sooner stormlord.

Yeah, Kaedrin's pack and Holy Warrior in particular really skews the balance in the Cleric's favour.
Also some new domains, like Pride or Illusion.
That said, FS do get a decent spell selection (significantly more picks then Sorcerors), so being limited to a closed spellbook isn't that bad. Especially that they are not gonna cast many offensive spells anyway due to the poor DCs. And the flexibility to cast whichever spell he knows - and spam it if needed - is very nice.
I think Favoured Souls should get Turn Undead though (therefore the access to Divine Feats).
