Hey there!

I've recently built myself a new rig; it’s pretty High-end and wanted to test out Dragon Age...
Ahem

Anyhow I've installed it all from steam an' all that Jazz ((First time set-up)) Game launcher boots up fine; no problems there. But when I go to configure or click play it boots up “Dragon Age: Origins Configuration utility” and does a scan on my PC about halfway through it stops responding and I’m only left with the option to forcefully close it.

Would it be possible for someone to spark some insight onto this matter? Much appreciated

I thought it would've been something to do with my processor? Due to it being quite new ((Just only being manufactured a month ago)) and might not be supported?

Anyhow I'll post my System specs below;

Thanks for posting your system info, and sorry you're not having luck so far.

No, your processor wouldn't have a direct conflict with Dragon Age. Some motherboards may require a bios update to run the newest processors, but let's assume for the moment that that's not the case.

If this is a brand new installation, first and foremost it's important to make sure both Windows 7 and your Nvidia drivers are up-to-date. Nvidia, for example, just released a new set of drivers this week... and reports so far have been positive.

Now, I haven't used Steam, but I believe Steam's launcher or management software has some way to check the integrity of the installation. I suggest you try that.

Otherwise, I suspect there's some issue with how Steam put the game on your system. There are a LOT of topics concerning Steam on this forum. I suggest you browse them, then if you have specific questions, post here and someone can help you further.

Good luck!

The pagefile size shown is inflated 2 1/2 times the optimum amount.

I am starting to see a pattern. When a DXDIAG is posted as information regarding a problem related to crashing, it always seems to be a high number in the pagefile. That and/or  overclocked processors.
Go back and look and see if I am right.

It seems to me that the game is just naturally somewhat on the verge of instability, and all kinds of incompatibilities exist that tip it over the edge.  Raise the odds by loading a ton of silly crap every time Windows staarts, and you don't give the poor thing a chance.  Keep it low (and I do, as do you), and the odds of having something problematic loaded go way down.

As pointed out by RaenImrahl, overclocking can be problematic as well. I noticed that when I overclock the video, it may work flawlessly for everything else, but I have to dial it back a titch to eliminate some graphic glitches that began to arise in DA.

I've yet to see a case where overclocking prevents certain services from starting, like the kind of trouble Mr. Mcnubbins is experiencing... usually it impacts game play itself. In his case, I still suspect the actual installation of the game via Steam.

I do wonder, if Steam users are more likely in general to have revved-up systems or are more inclined to tinker than those who find traditional discs more appealing. Could that be one reason why Steam users seem to experience more than the usual share of trouble?

I've never had that problem. This was a relatively old message thread. Didn't you find anything newer? (Don't waste time with the forum's own crippled Finder function, use a real search engine instead.)

Mine runs fine on 64-bit Win7 system, so no this is not the most likely cause. Post your specs in your own thread and maybe you can be helped.
