I've seen you say this so many times and frankly it's ridiculous. Personally, I don't see Garrus as a whiner, and I don't see Kaidan and Jacob as boring and uninteresting either. I find their characters interesting but not interesting enough to romance them. For me it's Garrus personality and the voice that does it. While I think turians look really fascinating, I wouldn't say I found them attractive. The fact that it's friendship that rolls on to something more is a huge bonus for me.

So everyone who thinks they know everything and say that people romance Garrus because he's alien and Kaidan and Jacob are boring, get over yourselves, because it's not true. We don't exactly say "ooooh I love Garrus because he looks so alien" in the Garrus fan thread <_<

And AD, do you think this way when it comes to Thane as well? Or is he okay for people to romance?

I saw a turian female drawing from someone before... very nicely done. Reminded me of a weird cat. Still find it soothing. Maybe attractive if they make it available why not. And I'm male.

Back to topic: Even as a straight male I think I can say I can recognise a handsome guy when I see one. And turians, yeah, they look proud and stern in some kind of alien handsome way.

I like their current design better, not physically. God know it's fugly. I like their current design because of how well thought out it is. It has vaguely female tones, but remains through and through an alien. Combined with how the Turians look as a whole for the species it makes them memorable and fairly realistically designed from a science perspective. It's a step in the right direction, but even so most of the aliens in mass effect are too human like in my opinion.

I still say we need some sort of counterpart to the hanar. An aquatic species that has managed to come to sentience, and over come the challenges of a fish out of water. Or something avian that still has feather markings. I mean come on lets do something unique here. Or how about a symbiotic alien? A species that has attained sentience, but other creatures have evolved so closely with it they may as well be one and the same. Bioware needs to think outside the box, but they seem incapable of doing that.

Well, personality wise he's not. I just don't like the way he was supposed to be eye-candy for female players.

Garrus is a cop, and gals just love a man in uniform. Simple as .

However, for me, he was the only one (as well as Tali) who always had my back. He didn't give a damn about Cerberus, he trusted Shepard more than he mistrusted Cerberus, and that shows loyalty. He has a great personality, a sense of humour, badass, and a sniper (don't ask, I have a thing for snipers?) and I think the romance has this great link between them. Also, he does not whinge, which is always a plus.

As for turian attractiveness? I believe someone else said something earlier, but the whole broad shoulders and narrow waist thing looks pretty muscular. Personally, I think the fringe and facial tattoos look real good. The voice, oh DAT VOICE!!
Also, you gotta admit that there are some shots where he just looks totally badass .

It's not that I find all turians attractive, mostly Garrus. The district guard has a weird squashed face, so I think Garrus just has the lucky genes...

How does he complain exactly? In the first game he's unhappy with his job and that's why he joined Shepard. To see how it would be to catch bad guys when you're not hindered by rules.

In the second he got his entire squad killed because of a betrayal and it's haunting him. Yeah, that's complaining alright.

Yes, he complains...more than any other character so far (for the reasons you mentioned)

Carth had good reasons to "complain"  (better reasons than Garrus) ...and people call him whiny.
If Garrus was a human, people would likely call him whiny too.

When does he whinge in either game? In fact, he hides the fact that his mother is dying from Shepard for the purpose of NOT complaining?
He will express his opinions on C-sec, saying that there was too much red tape for him. He only tells Shepard that he had a strict father if Shepard asks directly about it. I have never considered him as complaining right through the two games.

Re: Turian attractiveness. There is one thing that isn't so attractive about turians, and that is their noses. Sorry Garrus

Edit: And I don't quite see how he would seems more complaining if he was human?
He lost his squad, but focusses on avenging their deaths rather than complaining about his woes. When talking about his squad, he talks about the facts, and becomes determined to make Sidonis pay rather than 'complaining.'

I very much agree with this. I wasn't exactly wandering around the ME universe drooling at Turians in general, though I do find them an interesting species. Honestly, I tend to find the same things attractive in characters whether they are real or fictional - nice voice, slightly snarky sense of humour, good heart. The character of Garrus fits all of those criteria, so why wouldn't I fancy him? So what if has he has head ridges and a waist smaller than Victoria Principal's? (Anyone remember her?). Little details.

I like Turians in general and I find Garrus totally awesome.

I don't find Turians attractive, I find Garrus attractive.
