i like the cutscenes but the fact that they didn't list (slight) nudity for the 18 rating makes me sad.

bioware bent over to fox news.

Only one game in the history of BioWare has had partial (if you can call it that) nudity. "Bent over" nothing.

Well there's no mention of Sexual themes eithier.
They may have Bent over they may not have, Who knows for sure?

The BBFC tend to only list the content applicable to the age group.  If the BBFC rated something 18s for "Strong bloody violence" they're not going to add "and mild nudity" to the guideline.  It would be redudant.  For sexual material to get an 18s by the BBFC it has to be either extremely graphic or violent and I highly doubt DA2 will have either.

Sigh.

Why are some people comparing BBFC ratings to ESRB ratings? They're two different entities.

A lot of competing terms floating around. If you’re like me, and I know I am, it can get a little confusing. The common understanding of “cutscene” is a non-interactive moment that is rendered fancier than regular gameplay, but that no longer holds true because we have lots of “cinematic” moments, and that’s a major contributor to the amount. All those murder-knife moments in conversation, for example, and conversations in general have many more actions and gestures. It all adds up, as little as a few seconds at a time. And no, they didn’t have a special build that allowed them to watch all of these things--several poor bastards in QA had to comb through the entire game, line by line, for every possibly objectionable moment and record everything. I believe they've gone feral.

So no, you won’t see all of that on one playthrough. Wouldn’t be possible. Pretty much just like Origins, because I doubt you remember seeing as much as the 60 minutes or so that it apparently had.

Thanks Mr. Lukas. It's going to be interesting to see how it all came together.

I assume that the whole 103 minutes cover all the choices and consequences/reactions as well. If so, then of course we won't be able to see all of them in one run. If the entire length of the game is around ME2, then I'm more than happy.

DA:O ESRB Rating: Mature (Blood, Intense Violence, Language, Partial Nudity, Sexual Content)

DA:O BBFC Rating: 18 (Contains strong bloody violence)

You can expect the same thing to happen for DA2 I suspect.

Cutscenes
The BBFC defines a cutscene as a non interactive, linear cinematic,
whether pre-rendered or generated in real time. This is unlikely to
include user-generated replays, fly-throughs and in-game hints and cut
aways. However, scenes of over 15 seconds in length, or those which
contain significant, contentious material are required. Where cutscenes
are generated in real-time but vary in detail dependent on player input,
only the generic versions of those cutscenes are required. The ability
to change camera angle or perspective is unlikely on its own to prevent a
sequence from being considered a cutscene.
Cutscenes can be provided either within the game itself (provided they are accessible via a debug menu) or on separate media.
Failure to provide direct access to cutscenes will stop the submission proceeding.

I'm guessing that should be contigious rather than contentious?

If they're looking for naughty stuff to object to, I guess contentious would be the right word.

No, contentious as in material that might be inappropriate.

And that one game that had the blue butt was enough nudity to send Neo conservitives into a frenzy about virtual porn making it into america and corrupting the children witht he ideas of sex and illegal aliens(see what i did thar?)
But i think it's safe to say the reason why we aren't seeing nudity in anymore Bioware games is because EA dosen't want anymore controversey. Publishers in games need to avoid controversey at all cost Ex: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Days_in_Fallujah

So bioware isn't bending over, rather EA is pushing them down. I doubt any of the writers or designers have a problem with putting nudity in there games now. But EA does and would not allow another Nude romance scene no matter how much The writers/ designers wanted it.

You know, that's a common misconception about the awful journalism of Fox News. Yes, they were utterly wrong--but the thing they were wrong about was that you could have sex with multiple women, whenever you wanted, in whatever way you wanted. They seemed to think (earnestly, mind you) it was a sex simulator. If it had been a sex simulator, they were partially right in raising attention to it--it was only rated M, while it should have been rated AO. AO games rarely get attention, because no one buys them, and isn't really a concern. That's why ME was getting so much coverage.

They were not really objecting to there being sex in the game at all. Many games have had sex in them, and they don't say a word. They simply thought it was graphic pornography. They hadn't thought they were freaking out over alien side boobies. When they found out they were wrong, they apologized. I have no lost love for them, but you're the one blowing things out of proportion.

And, again, I really hate the "If I don't like something, it's EA's fault! If I like something, it's BioWare's achievement!" sentiment. Playing scapegoat is childish. BioWare is a Big Boy Company, and can own up to their mistakes.

Yeah but MGS4 didn't really have any game to go with its cutscenes. I still loved it.

Oh, I misread then, I thought they were talking about the techincal aspects that qualified it as a cutscene.... That's what I get for putting my computer in front of a south facing window--hard to read at midday, midwinter... ;)

Worth noting that Mass Effect 1 was rated 12 by the BBFC

Wow, poor them. You should have got the fans to do it. It would have been a labour of love. of course then we could create 50 threads-a-second on whether we considered X item objectionable and the thing would never be released.

How exactly does someone decide if content is objectionable? Surely its a relative qualification.

Entirely relative. We can't make that call, so they get just about everything that can be seen, and at least a representative sample of everything that can be said. So if you come up with an entirely new way to debase someone after submission, too bad, because it would require resubmitting the whole thing. At which point you have to ask yourself if that nug in bloomers is worth delaying the whole project. Hypothetically speaking. Image IPB

Well the BBFC decides what is objectionable through public surveys, and they update their guidelines evey couple of years.

Does it really matter anyway? what is "objectionable" for a game with an 18 rating?
