I think it would depend on what skills/powers we will see in each class. But going from the past, I'd say Soldier. It's canon.

true, but soldiers in mass effect arekinda like normal types in pokémon, Jack of all Trades, Masters of None

Vanguard is the class you never knew you wanted. Headbutting, black hole throwing, and a shotty in the chest has a bizarre yet enjoyable appeal. Personally, I'll either end up an Infiltrator or Soldier, then try the other classes for the other playthroughs.

Sentinel; with Biotic powers, Tech abilities, Tech Shield to help survive, and if you got the assault rifle in the Collector ship you become even better in combat. Beat the game on Insanity without falling once, thank you Sentinel.

Common Sense for the win.

Really a little bit of planning, foresight and common sense with any character will see you and your squad safetly through to the end.

Mass Effect 3, I mean...who knows? Whichever one you'll have the most fun playing. Some people enjoy the high risks of Vanguard, some people enjoy the shredding of everything in the path of the Soldier, and some people enjoy lining up the Headshot and seeing green and blue blood spray everywhere as an Infiltrator.

 SOLDIER = TANK

I know I'm playing as a soldier. I always have and always will. I can't stand not having all the guns. (except SMG's, that i can play without) 

But who knows whats next. Maybe the new classes will have stuff that catches my eye.

Soldier... something tells me the classic, battle-hardened type that won wars all throughout history before biotics/all that stuff in the ME universe would have the best chance to prevail. The Reapers are expecting biotics/advanced warships etc, they may not be expecting the raw combat-efficient Soldiers who don't necessarily rely on that stuff to get the job done.
