I'm not too far away from heading to Ilos on my second ME1 playthrough.
The 1st time I played I took Wrex and Tali with me.
It's a lot of good play between Ilos through the Finale and I'm looking for a good Combo for my Team (mostly looking for the most interesting interaction in addition to effectiveness) and I'm really looking to mix things up, so Tali and Wrex are probably off...
So, to those of you who've had multiple playthroughs: Who do you think I should take?

Garrus/Liara is very good, I've played 12 complete ME1 playthroughs and 3 half way, that's because I needed all the achievements in two differents profiles (xbox).
Liara have the uber singularity, Garrus have tech and from Ilos on are only geth, apart some battlemaster at the citadel that will fly with Liara's biotic.
I dont know which class is your shepard or what difficoult your playthrough is set, but I had always a lot of fun in combat taking these two with me, whatever specialization I had.

It depends on your class. As a soldier, I preferred Liara/Tali. As a Vanguard, I prefer Wrex/Garrus. Generally, a well balanced squad is the way to go.

Sorry...you guys are right...I forgot to mention my class *d'oh*
I'm playing a Vanguard and took Shock Trooper specilization...interesting observations so far

I was an Adept, and took Liara and Wrex.

As for me, I usually have a set "team" based on my class, because I like to balance my bars:

Soldier: Liara and Tali
Engineer: Liara and Ashley
Adept: Ashley and Tali
Vanguard: Wrex and Tali/Garrus and Kaidan
Infiltrator: Garrus and Liara/Wrex and Kaidan
Sentinel: Wrex and Garrus (since Kaidan and Ashley only works pre-Virmire)

This too. Myself, my fiance, and one of our roommates all play ME a lot and all tend to have a squad we take just about everywhere, a group that sort of become your bros and work well with your class and playing style.
