Obviously I like Garrus and Tali both are loyal but different personality wise they have complexities that make them human Garrus constantly struggling between black and white issues and Tali’s just too sweet not to like I do like how she’s grown in ME2 I was shocked to see her on Freedom’s Progress but at the same time really proud to see her in command of a squad her voice has hardened alittle too showing the stress she’s been under my first thought after seeing her was, “ Wow, it really has been two years you’ve done quite well Tali.” Of course we all know how quickly it unraveled but she’s got a strength and fire that isn’t matched even by Ashley.

Let’s see…..Ash is ok she’s strong a tank in ME I hope she stays that way in ME3 BW better not make her weaker. Ash was a person in ME her home life was complex but she was tough not the kind of girl to cry because she got burned I’d have a hard time believing she’d scream if she got shot very tough and that she can easily have a on duty behavior and an off duty one is respectable. I also like the fact she’s different in terms of her acceptability of aliens most in ME are very accepting she and Presley proved there are the hold outs after she opens up I can see why she hesitates some call her raciest but she’s not just careful if she was truly a racist like some claim she would refuse to work side by side with aliens and would either quit or give the alien crewmen hell so they would quit neither occurred. This flaw only adds to her character though how they portrayed her a cutout shell in ME2 I wonder if her personality will survive for 3.

Kaiden….I never liked him something about him bugs me maybe its his face I don’t know but he just annoys me the way he talks to you is fine but timid like he’s unsure how to talk to Fshep maybe he has issues talking to girls but the lack of forth coming on his part was always annoying when he subtlety hits on you I want to scream spit it out! Just say you want me already! But he keeps inching and hinting for sometime. Also strength wise I find him weak when comparing Ash and Kaiden I always choose Ash she’s very strong and dependable he’s not. Needless to say 4 out 5 sheps kill him.

Wrex hes blunt kind of intimidating but I like him you just have to watch what avenues you go down with this guy I feel like he’ll break my Shep in half if he/she says something too offensive. But believe it or not that sense of danger makes him interesting. Grunt even though he slams you the first 5 seconds of meeting him he fails to give off the same tone as Wrex if I had to pick I’d take Wrex over Grunt.

Chakwas – sure she’s not playable or anything but she’s got a nice personality and VA I love she’s the doctor on Star Trek too! I wish they gave her more talk time and personality the drinking scene in ME2 is most loved and memorable I wish more things came up with her for 3.

Samara – She’s strong and calm her calmness is almost a fault the only time I felt she was human was when she killed Mornith and you immediately ask if she’s OK. She showed she still feels under there but I hope in 3 they show this a bit more. I also must say for BW benefit I loved how she is not romancable and keeps hinting that she doesn’t want to go that path it makes her more respectable to me I just wish her outfit was just as respectable. (http://img9.imagesha...767/samarap.jpg ) if she only had the neckline of the blue one I’d be happy.

Miranda – She annoying maybe because she looks constantly smug or has too much plastic surgery but appearances aside her personality is rotten. Even if she’s upset I don’t buy it the most human she got was during Oriana but I really had to drag myself to Illium to help her I hope I can replace her as XO in 3 or airlock her.

Jacob – Wow! He’s worse then Kaiden! I can’t talk to the guy w/o fshep harassing him! He annoys me too maybe because of the whole dialogue choices but He’s human enough when he’s on his loyalty mission but doesn’t comment on curtain things, things he should be more outraged by then he just stands there until shep can fit in the whole that’s your kid over there. I like his fire at that point but on ship his personality sucks. I don’t get the urge to replace or airlock him I just want him to not be a brick. I respect that he was honest but his personality doesn’t jive with Cerberus so I can’t figure out why he’s there sure he said so but that doesn’t make sense for his personality I feel like BW just saddled him into the position instead of him choosing it.

Aria – She’s unique once she opens up to you I want to know more about her and not be her errand boy!

Liara – I liked her in ME naïve and an archeologist not the typical job of someone on a ship but the reason for her being important to the story was well done. I hated how in ME2 she went 180 and I could barley recognize her personality wise! I’m left shocked and upset. I romanced her in ME and couldn’t wait to meet her every world I landed on was like will I find her here? It was always disappointing and when I gave up looking for her she extended her hand to me! But she didn’t care about our relationship, so cold I wanted to cry, then I found out what she did and I was very angry with her if the so am I dialogue was the breakup choice I’m fine with that. Now in SB she comes back around to being closer to ME Liara I knew she’s evolved in SB like she should’ve evolved in ME2. This was were I thought personality wise she would’ve been in ME2 two years, a dead lover, and a captured friend to boot she showed the right amount of anger, grief, and distance towards shep. What I mean by distance is sense I romanced someone else in ME2 she accepted this she was by no means happy but she moved on long before Shepard did and I can only assume she was kicking herself for the cold treatment she gave in ME2 but was still trying to be strong and show her support for the new relationship shep had gotten into. I respect her more now because of SB and all the things she did there now that I can see her burdens and suffering she was hiding in ME2 I forgiver her and also feel sorry for causing her more pain (by choosing new LI) but will be uber supportive of her for ME3. I think if in ME2 they’d shown her like she was in SB I would’ve stayed faithful to her because I would’ve been able to see the pain the two years was having on her but as she appeared to shut herself down in ME2 that caused Shep to breakup with her and look else where for a life partner. Sad but that’s how it had to end.

Haven't played ME1 and haven't recruited everyone in ME2 yet, but I'll give my two cents anyway:

Miranda = Fair
At first Miranda seemed like a complete moo, but talking to her and completing her loyalty mission really warmed me up to her. I also kind of cheated a bit and read up on her "special files" and something spoilerific in said files made me sad for her and made me like her even more. As a squadmate she is insanely useful. She's usually in my squad squashing annoying heavy mechs. Also... she has a lovely bum. .... What? :)

Jacob = Okay
Since I didn't want to flirt with him I basically didn't talk to Jacob unless I was in the field or "investigating" so I haven't really gotten a chance to get a feel for his personality and his "special files" (cheating again, I know) kind of make him sound like nothing more than a meathead. He was pretty cool during his loyalty mission though. As a squadmate? I found him to be practically useless.

Mordin = AWESOME
I love Mordin. He's a science nerd (+10) who'll shoot you in the face (+100). Haven't done his loyalty mission yet, but through cheating (again) I think it will probably just make me love him even more. Another useful squadmate. He can be kind of... squishy, but he usually takes out a handful of heavy mechs before he dies.

Garrus = AWESOME x2
He's a sniper and he looks like a kitty. What else can I say? More, apparently. Garrus is just wickedsauce. He needed more "on ship" dialogue though. It took forever before he would speak of anything more than calibrations... methinks he actually had a copy of "Fornax" in the gunnery. "Calibrations", my bum. As a squadmate he's saved my arse more times than I can count. He seems to enjoy being shot though. Dude doesn't use cover unless I tell him to. "DAMNIT GARRUS! STAY BEHIND THE CRATE!"

Zaeed = Fair
Zaeed is pretty cool. Kind of your typical "crusty old vet" type, but he can snipe too and I have a weakness for snipers. I wish he had "regular" dialogue like the rest of your squad...mostly because I'm in love with his voice actor. Since I usually have Garrus shooting faces off with me I hardly ever use Zaeed, but he was useful in the fight to acquire Garrus.

Kasumi = AWESOME x2
Kasumi is great. I thought she'd be all dark and cynical and she turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I love her perkiness and confidence and her loyalty mission made me cry (shut up :P). She's another favorite to have in my squad. I was rather worried about just her and I fighting during her loyalty mission, but she carried my sad butt through the whole thing

Jack = AWESOME
Sure she's a bit psycho, but I just can't bring myself to not like Jack. Her dialogue is usually hilarious and heart-wrenching all at once. I pity her and I'm looking forward to unraveling her story more. As a squadmate she's... okay? I've only used her once so far. Her shockwave power is great, but usually I have Miranda for my biotic.

Grunt = Fair
Grunt's entrance into Shep's life was great, but things got a little boring after that. I haven't done his loyalty mission yet. I'm hoping things will pick up later. He is useful to bounce bullets off of though. He's the only squadmate I've recruited that hasn't bitten dust.

Ashley = Boo
I haven't played ME1 and the PS3 comic didn't explain much so all I know is she chewed me out on Horizon without even letting me really explain so she gets a "Boo". Maybe in ME3, should she appear, I'll get to know her better.

I'll put my two cents in on each character and why.

Mass Effect 1:

Ashley Williams: Slightly growing on me
-As a character I think she is very well written and believable. It's her tough exterior but sensitive interior that makes her a realistic romantic option, she may not be the prettiest squadmate but her bond with Shepard has a potential to be pretty strong and impressionable. I never saw her as "racist" or "religious" despite the millions of haters that see her belief in God and the afterlife as synonymous with being fanatically fundamentalist and from what her family has been through her distrust of aliens is understandable (not justified, but understandable). I would like to see her in ME3 for the few playthroughs I've kept her alive.

Kaiden Alenko: I like
-He has a cool exterior and despite his hardships he's very level headed and focused on the mission. When my canonical Shepard (who romanced him) met him on Horizon, I just felt the tension between the two. He's grieved for Shepard's loss and finds the idea of her being rebuilt absolutely ludicrous. He still feels as if she's abandoned him, and honestly, if you're with someone you really care about, they disappear and come out of nowhere years later with a less than trustworthy organization you'd feel the same way. I would however like to know what nationality he is, he looks either full Caucasian or Eurasian (he does have a Japanese first name). He's survived most of my playthroughs (including male Sheps who didn't romance Ashley).

Garrus Vakarian: Like
-I like him as a buddy to Shepard, but when he got included as a romance option because of the fans' demand I just found it ridiculous. Seriously, not every character that is cool has to be romanceable, and I'm glad his romance arc (which I did not play) was purposely cheesy. He is a member of a raptor/bird-like species, how anyone could see a 'romance' outside of a bromance in a species like that is beyond me. As a character though he's cool, and he's accompanied my canonical Shepard alongside Tali for many missions. However, remembering his personal mission in ME1, if you took the paragon route I would've liked to see him getting thoughts in ME2, and gameplay wise I wish he was more useful with that sniper rifle.

Tali Zorah: Like
-I feel the same way about her that I do Garrus. Her romance inclusion was pretty pointless. Yes you don't know what she looks like but seriously just because she is female doesn't automatically make her LI material. To me if she wasn't an LI that would make her so much more alluring (for all we know quarians could be rather bird or animal like). I didn't like her in ME1, felt that she was a bore to talk to, but I definitely began to like her in ME2 when she developed more of a backbone and a personality. Not my favorite character, but a compelling and well written one. And at least more useful than Garrus gameplay wise.

Urndot Wrex: Okay
-This guy grew on me. Certain dialogue lines, such as him telling Shepard how he followed him/her to fight for more than just credits, as well as his attempt to reform his people on Tuchanka showed me what a wise and deeply caring character he is. He's strong, not very emotional, but he is very concious and aware of the universe and aware that changes need to be made to his people's traditions if they want to avoid genocide and be able to enjoy a culture like all the other species out there. He's amusing and tough.

Liara T'Soni: Definitely Like
One of my favorite characters in Mass Effect. In ME1 she was very bookish and had a charm to her but also seemed to be very weak and almost useless, but what other character went out of their way to try and find Shepard, whether love interest or merely friend (even if you treated her like crap) and help you get rebuilt and resurrected and continue to provide information and help you out. To me she's a true friend (and to the Shepards who romance her, a true love), making her one of my tops when it comes to characters.

ME2:

Jacob Taylor: Needs improvement
Honestly I liked this guy. My canon Shepard romanced him. In a futuristic sci-fi game where supposedly the ethnic races melded, you rarely saw non-Caucasians save for a handful of characters. Ashley and Kaiden were both Anglo-Saxon (or at least Caucasian) as was the majority of your crew. Jacob as the star of Mass Effect Galaxy AND as a squadmate for ME2 was a refreshing change, a male human lead who is good looking, level headed, and has a pretty neat sense of humor if you give his dialogue a chance. What disappointed me though were his gameplay (seriously...he should have had Miranda's abilities and she should've been more of a support character like him) and that his romance arc was like a cheesy B-movie film. He has a deep character, but I expected more from him overall.

Miranda Lawson: Like
Probably THE best squadmate gameplay wise (useful for EVERY situation, enough tech to handle the bots and enough biotics to outlast any other enemy). The 'perfect human' arc she had was interesting, but it sort of ticked me that she can get a lightly armored jumpsuit yet my Fem Shep was stuck in all that bulky looking armor. Her alternate appearance rectifies that shortcoming however. Like Jacob's romance, she was more like that office secretary fling with her executive, but I understand she was designed to be that way. She should have had a paragon/renegade romance like Jack had, to where the romance seen in ME2 was her renegade and her paragon romance (which by the way, to show interest in her you had some pretty cheesy dialogue in order to get there) could've been more emotional. I do like her though, and her part with Oriana gave her a more human approach.

Jack/Subject Zero: Definitely Like
Very compelling character, she's one that you actually WANT to see get better. She's almost without any sort of regret or redemption, but you still see a human inside of her that fears letting people get close because they will exploit or hurt her. Plus she deviated from the traditional ultra-feminine ally characters (the mirror opposite of Miranda) for a tougher, grittier, take no prisoners sort of appeal. I will be waiting to see what comes of her in ME3 without a doubt.

Grunt: Meh
He served his purpose in ME2, but he is just not compelling. After completing his mission, I felt like the Collector Mission was ALL I needed him for and nothing further. He has no real emotion or any sort of compelling reason to make you care about him any further than that, being that he is basically artificial and doesn't really hold any of his own opinions.

Mordin: Okay
Not a bad character but he does get annoying with his constant chatter. But he is compelling and struggles with his decisions regarding the genophage and life in general, and his motives are sound and believable and has fairly good reasons for what he does and why he believes what he does. He has a dark side yet he has a compassionate side. He's pretty interesting (but please don't ask him to be an LI people).

Samara: Favorite
My favorite character. She's beautiful, elegant, and what I like most about her is that she's very appealing yet not a love interest. She's well read, well versed about humanity, and her paladin/bushido like code (Justicar) was really cool as was her manner of speaking. I love the mystical warrior aspect of her, and she does have an emotional side when it comes to her daughters, but chooses to forsake what she wants in favor of what will benefit the universe around her and makes sacrifices for the sake of others.

Zaeed Messani: Meh
He's got his amusing moments but there's nothing that makes me want him in my squad or in general past ME2. He's selfish, could care less about saving the galaxy or others and is just worried about his credits. Plus he's not a full character that you can have conversations with like the others. I liked his concept art but in game...meh.

Kasumi Goto: Like
She's a really awesome squadmate and another beautiful woman that isn't an LI (to remind players that beautiful and cool =/= love interest must be, in fact I like she takes interest in Jacob and overlooks male Shepard, the Gary Stu of the Mass Effect universe). Her personal mission is also more compelling than Zaeed's. Plus she's a space ninja. Image IPBWho doesn't like space ninjas?

Legion: Okay
It was cool having a geth party member and exploring their race, but I don't think he's all that. Basically it's cool to have him around, but I wasn't devastated by handing him to Cerberus in my other playthroughs (or having him die) either. Could do with or without him basically, other squadmates are cooler and more interesting.

Morinth: Good
Pretty well written character, but she was pretty much designed to be killed in the first place. Still she's a nice easter egg for those who have built up the paragon/renegade meter to optionally get her. She does scare me though. Image IPB

Thane Krios: Okay
Basically a self-employed Batman type. I love his mission (which is non-violent and involves stealth/espionage as well as a fair bit of persuasion, would like to see more of that in Mass Effect 3) and he's pretty useful gameplay wise. But he's dying and to me he's made his sacrifice against the Collectors...nothing about his appearance would make me want to 'romance' him (cold blooded reptiles aren't my thing) but he's still pretty cool.

There aren't many character I dislike. Tali, for example, annoys the hell out of me sometimes with her snarky attitude, but I don't particularly hate the charcter. The one character I can absolutely say I can't stand at all is Miranda.

Don't get me wrong, she has decent enough character development, but her comment about the control chip just completelty turned me off. She would bring a man back to life against his will (which is morally questionable in and of itself) to served a her and TIM's personal slave. A fate that, in my opinion, is worse than death.

And she says it as calmly and uncaringly as though she were telling you about the weather! She clearly doesn't see anything wrong with what she would had done if TIM allowed her free reign.

Then after telling you that, had circumstances allowed it, she would have made you a husk of a man, devoid of free will,  she tells you that Cerberus isn't evil and asks you to give them a second chance.

Really?

I like them all

Wrex - "Shepard!! My friend!"

Miranda - Melting the Ice Queen, Yang to Default Sheploo's Ying

Liara - If Shepard is the head, she is the heart

Kasumi - I'd like to kick it with her, fun personality (and the looks)

Garrus - The Protege

Zaeed - The Most Interesting Man In The Galaxy. He's doesn't drink beer often but when he does it's Dos Equis. Stay thirsty my friends.

Wow I thought I postedin here but I didn't. weird. anyway! my take on characters:

Ashley: god I love that woman. After going back to have an import character in ME1 I loved Ashley because she was, for lack of abetter word, and Badass. level her up a bit and put Over kill on and she can tke out enemies on her own (worked well with my adept Shepard who gave her target practice with lift when she used assasination.) They wrote her as if she had a mind of her own and made her seem like an actual person (not to mention Kim Brooks does a wonderful job VA'ing her) I have to go out of my way not to romance her with my male sheps.

Kaidan: Rock solid. after what he went through it impressed me that he didn't come out scarred beyond belief. He knows who he is and he's not looking for any handouts and he's got one of the best skill sets in ME1 (got several power achievements with him)

Liara: One of the mmebers of team crowd control with my adeptShep. as an LI well she's got the deck stacked in her favor since she's got a DLC that's made her possibly the most important character in the series not named Shepard, but she's still sweet and cares about Shepard no matter of they treat her. She's learning how to be social and it's cute and all, I also hope that she and Ashley could become friends when Shepard dies.

Me2:

Miranda: God I love that woman. sine I played Me2 first she was my frist romance and I adore her catsuits and all. the best squadmate in Me2 on any difficulty. it helps that she looks and sounds like a certain actress and her character is one of the best in the series, not tomention she's almost Shepard's equal.couldn't ask for a Better XO

Garrus: Garrus is cool, but I could stand it if he stopped mentioning his team on Omega.I stoppedletting him kill Sidonis because even when you let him he doesn't shup up about it, he even mentions it in his love scene!!!! the Whiner label that was placed onKaidan shoudl easily be switched to Garrus and if he's not whining he's calibrating the Thanix Cannon. Maybe he should reach his potential by not serving under shepard anymore, THEN comeback.

Tali: sweet girl, with a nice figure. She could ease up on the geth and realize that her people started what ended up getting them kicked off their planet. I love taking Legion aboard the Flotilla and taking her aboard the geth station because its easily the best dialouge in the entire game, especially with Legion talking to the admirals. Her romance is a little contrived, more like sHepard's a rock star and she's like "I'd ride that ride if I got the chance" althoughI do ahve a feeling she wants herself a piece of femshep despite her protests (me thinks she doth protest too much?) she'snice witha shotgun and chittchika vas paus is usefull against fireball spamming Harby on higher difficulties, especially when she explodes on death. :P

Thane: I underestimated him. he's awesome with his sniper rifles and his warp is useful when Miranda's leading my fire teams on the SM. as a chracter he gets my empathy because he's actively dying, but he owes one of my femsheps a desk for his desk punchig antics in his love scene >.>

Jack: I like her, especially how differently she reacts to renengades and paragons since a renengade can just have sex with her and leave it at that while a paragon can turn her down and get into her head and soften her up a bit from her bad girl mentality. as a squaddie she sort of gets devalued on Insanity until she gets her warp ammo

Samara: Blue Goddess. (Sorry Liara she's got you beat by a few centuries) can honestly say she's the first video game chracter to break my heart. If she hadn't said no I probbaly wouldn't have done Miranda's romance because she would have been first because of how interesting she was. Living for nearly 1000 years and having seen and done it all is easily the best backstory. Reave is the best biotic power out there and I stick it on almost all of my Shepards even the nonbiotic ones.

Jacob: easily the most underrated character in the game. He's got Hale talking like she's going to pounce on him and "the priiiize" stacked against him, yet he's the ONLY Me2 LI that doens't bother Shepard with his problems and instead ask her about hers. I was honestly shocked when I was asked how I felt about the mission I didn't even know what to pick for the dialogue option. He got his own moral compass that's free from Shepard's tampering which make shim his own man and I respect that. I also think it's cute that he's gained the affections of Kasumi without doing anything and I think those two should hook up if he's not with Shepard.

Grunt: he's amazing. He's filled with genes of famous Krogan and he's incredibly smart and articulate of his thoughts (minus the window headbutt for the dialouge that opens up in LM) He gets compared to wrex alot becaus ehe's the Krogan on the Crew but he's nothing like him. He's still finding his place, while Wrex had already found his and ahd battle stories. Although with time he'll even tually suprass Wrex (Wrex even alludes to this when you talk to him after Grunts Rite if you kill the Maw) I can't wait to see him when his plates grow in on his head too.

Mordin: pure Genious. honestly he's incredibly interesting. I wish he was like Joker and Kasumi so he could give opinions on the crew, plus his sex advice is hilarious. his backstory with the Genophage is very engaging and gives you a glimpse at how the galaxy works outside of council space and that it's no cake walk. I love his incinerate and neural shock powers, they're a life saver on the SM.

Zaeed: eh. Oncehis badass Aura wore off for me he was just an ass. He sarcafices people to stay alive which is probably why Vido kicked him out of the suns and why he's the only one to make it out alive in his stories. His fire genade is useful on higher difficulties so I don't put him off until after the SM to kill him.

Kasumi: One of my favorite charcaters of all time. She's hilarious and open despite her cloaking and hooded opinion. her grenade is great crowd control for when my vanguards have to retreat after charge and she's delightful to be around. her crush on Jacob is adorable and about as much squad interaction as we've gotten beyond the loyalty fights. I'm rooting for her to get with him in the absece of a femshep for Jacob.

Legion: all of you are amazing. his "crush" on Shepard is very interesting given that it's a machine. He gives us insight into the Geth that we would never have gotten any other way and makes them very sympathetic and a great Ally since hsi geth outnumber the ones who follow sovereign. It was also nice to hear that the true geth harbor no ill will towards the quarians and are actually maintain their world for them to return to (not so bad are they Tali?). also he's hilarious for something without a sense of humor it's a shame that he's solid proof Sovereign wasn't a geth ship and he gets labelled as a trophy bot by the council.

Wrex- he's a badass, and I think he has eyes for Femshep (we all know her breeding request was from him haha)

I do believe I covered everyone.
