I think the scars in ME2 are silly.. I disagree with the theory that hitting atmo would burn ones face so that the scars where gone. Reason: If the suit Shep was wearing was able to withstand entering atmo well enough to actually make it to the ground, then they would not have been burnt per-say. Jacob saying that he/she was "Just meat and tubes." simply points, IMO, that impact shattered every bone in their body, making them pretty hard to recognize.

Also, IMO, the glowing eyes is stupid.

I loved the scars in ME1 because it gave Shep character.

I clear up the scars on every single Shepard I have and I think they are ridiculous. I want the old scars back from ME1.

I think the scars are ridiculous. They're clearly a thing EA introduced to make characters look more badass, and it doesn't work. It doesn't fit in the game, and I get rid of it asap on my characters.

And then people wonder why everyone thinks renegade = evil.

I mean you look like a freakin' devil.

I dont mind the scars but we should be able to change our facial features with the machine.

They seemed to go the Fable way with the evil scars which is a shame. Dont mind the red eyes.

Your Elf is pretty hot.

Yes, and fix Garrus' face too. One thing that irks me about the face creator is that it's permanent and isn't representative of the lighting conditions in the final game. I build faces that look perfectly fine in the creator, but look REALLY AWFUL in the game at certain angles and under certain lighting.

If I could fix that in game it would be fantastic. It just needs minor corrections to his cheeks :/

I would have loved it if I used the machine I would have gotten the old scar back. Always reminded my Shepard how her family was killed by Batarian slavers.

The old scars had personality. I also made up stories about how Shepard got them, and they meant something to my characters. The new ones just felt gimmicky.

Ok, it seems im on my own on this but I actually really like them. I know there is no reason for them, but I think they look good.

It is not that I don't like them. I just would have used the machine if I would have gotten my old scards back. But because this was not possible I didn't. So now my Shepard has scars that remind her of how the Normandy got destroyed. Easy as that.

Ahh I see I did not know that other scars were removed due to the me2 system as I use the default shep. So much for cerberus rebuilding him exactly as he was huh.....

As it was, the scars were basically an appeal to the 'evil is ugly' trope, mixed in with 'badass Renegade' appearance.

While I liked the scar-effect, as it really could make Renegades more intimidating, I would have liked to see scarring regardless of your alignment, but the color of the scars reflect said alignment.

Renegade Red is great and all, but how would Paragons feel if they had blue streaks as they did nice things? Would they fix them, hide them, or take pride in them?

I hate the link of appearance to alignment like almost nothing else in the game. I always cheat to get the scarring removed, and think I've made the ME universe better with it.

Having said that, the scars itself weren't so bad. Were they tied to a specific incident that inflicted that damage on Shepard, it would be OK. But ME isn't Star Wars, that link to alignment is so ridiculous that whoever had the great idea to put it into the game deserves to ....well, perhaps it's best that I delete what I originally wrote here.

the good thing is, Bioware gave you the choice to remove the scars if you didnt like them. which makes this whole thing a matter of personal choice.

Why would you rebuild somone, and say, ok, now cut his/her face again to replicate the scar s/he had?

I really liked the scars and the glowing eyes. And I play female Sheps mostly. What is retarded is that no one reacts to them in any way. Or to Shepard's change of appearance should he change his way of looking in ME2.Or that everyone recognizes you despite wearing a helmet. Sure the voice can give you away a bit but come on.

I agree with the fact no one comments on your face. Maybe they are worried about the cain strapped to your back. LOL

I look at the facial reconstruction this way, just because you change how you look in ME2 it retcons you to have looked that way in ME1. They mention explicitly they put you back together as you were. It is just a neat option for players to utilize.

The scars are too KOTOR and I really hated them because it brought obvious attention to how light-side/dark-side the paragon/renegade meters were in the game.

The reason I quoted is in bold.  KOTOR 2 (I was playing a female exile) had Atton comment about my condition.  That seriously made all the difference for me.  It was years ago, but I still kind of remember the setting where it happened for me so as to drive home how much I appreciated the recognition for going dark side.  In addition to how the dialogues were done it made me want to continue to pursue a dark-side exile character.

Hate the scars and use gibbs to remove them every single time. It's stupid how your scars start to look like the skin on your face is beginning to fall off just because you don't feel like hugging everyone, saving kittens from trees and intervene in everyones situation. Why does "evil" (because I don't really see my renegon as evil) = disfigured?

My ME1 scar gave my Shep character and I'd rather have that back.

I liked the cyborg eyes showing through. I would like the option to keep/remove certain features in the ME3 CC character creator.

I likeded them :)

Towards the end bar of renegade they do become a bit to much, but somehow it is something that grows with the character and I like the idea of it. I wish they were more controllable though, something... then again... having both scars and tattoos in char creator would absolutely be better

What's stupid is that none of the squad comment on your condition. You'd think Mordin would be concerned.

Heh. When my all-out Renegade femShep met Kaidan on Horizon, you'd think he'd say something about how Shepard looks like a terminator zombie all of a sudden, but he was just happy to see her... until he tried to rip her a new one. My least favourite part of the new scars is that at their worst they're so extreme that it's utterly unbelievable no one would comment on them.
