BioWare is currently investigating complaints from a concerning number of Mass Effect 2 PS3 players reporting that their save files have become corrupt.
Skimming over various posts on the official forum, it appears the game crashes unexpected, forcing you to restart the PS3, only to find that your save file has been corrupted and you're unable to continue.
Even more alarming, players report that creating a new save file every time you save doesn't help because when one file is corrupted the lot go with it.
BioWare producer Jesse Houston has posted a request for help tracking down the issue. That post below:
Specifically if you can say:
1> where the crash occurred that caused the save to become corrupt (ie loading from Horrizon to the Normandy or Right after the fight with the Yahg)
2> How many levels in a row you played beforehand (Ie you played through the prologue through to Horizon in a single sitting)
3> How long you were playing concurrently beforehand (ie you had the game running for 40 hours straight without rebooting the console)[/i]
I'm not sure where Mr Houston's post is to reply to. But I thought I'd flag up this hopeful feature.
One thing I can say, if you read this Bioware: It seems that the lockups can happen anywhere and after any amount of time playing, but the issue seems to be easily provoked in the Lair of the Shadow Broker quest.
