Right, I have been browsing the threads a fair amount, and have seen people repeatedly post the same replies as their makeshift solutions, so I'm going to post my experience here, and hope others do the same also.

I first experienced the corrupted data issue after arud 35hours gameplay, last night, at the LOTSB mission (before the skycab scene, after you choose which member of your party you wish to accompany you). I got the freeze during the loading screen, and couldn't access the XMB, so manually restarted the PS3 via the green button. I didn't restart my PS3, as it was around 4AM, so decided to just head to bed, woke up today, went to continue the game, only to see "New Game" and no "Resume/Load".
Quit to XMB, looked at save data to see my File Corrupted.
First thing I did was head on over to good ol' google, found that many people have encountered this also.

Decided to read up on every thread I could find, and see what solutions people offered, and try them all. Started a new character from scratch, got around 10 hours in, and got a random freeze during a loading screen (heading to Omega I believe). It is worth noting that I had autosave OFF for this 2nd career. I also made backups to both a USB stick and to my PSP memory stick - Both of which  WILL NOT help after a data corruption, I do not know why, but all I can think of is the other file (that is protected, but doesn't say corrupted) must be altered somehow also during the corruption process.

So for TL;DR.

1) Autosave did NOT help/prevent data corruption.
2) Playing offline did NOT help/prevent data corruption.
3) Data copied/backed up externally does NOT work after a data corruption incident.
4) Multiple saves on your PS3 does NOT help - as all saves are compiled into 1 file - which gets corrupted.
5) LOTSB is NOT the only instance in which your PS3 can freeze in.
6) System restore did NOT help.

Please post your experiences (or what you have/haven't tried) here.

Updates:

1) I have tried the guide mentioned on this link: here. Did not work, I followed the guide step by step, stayed offline after the downloading of the DLC, installed in exact order mentioned there, all of which was after deleting everything ME related on my profile, didn't help. I have no idea why, maybe the freeze alters the disk, or maybe the save data needs to work only with the origional settings (or copyright data) that it was created with, I honestly have no idea.
2) Will be purchasing another disk, and seeing if re-installing the whole of ME, and trying all above steps will affect it in anyway (disk might somehow be affected during the corruption).

Aware of that, thanks, but this is mainly because there are ALOT of people who read OP, maybe just first few replies, then reply with "Try backing up to another device" or "try turning autosave off", even though other replies state it doesn't work.
One more topic with all of that stated in OP will hopefully cut-back on the repeated replies of peoples oppinions of solutions.

Thanks for this, it helps to have it detailed as you do especially since it seems you have covered all of the proposed "fixes."

Thanks for this.  I myself was guilty of spreading some false hope in the other thread based on the evidence available from other users at the time.  This is a valuable resource.

A question to those who made a backup. Did you delete the copywritten file as it might be corrupt as well? And then copy back the save file and tried to load it in game? I heard that the copywritten file will recreate it self after booting the game. So it should work. I would appreciate if I could get a C/D on this.

I got similar problem with the game, the game got freezed right after the cutscene after defeating the final boss. My save is safe and intact, but when I reboot the game I got new game option on the menu. I exit the game, both of saves; character profile and progress/setting are safe. Just so close to unlock the last mission trophies, now I gotta wait for patch to fix the game. I'm thinking that there might be some problem with game data its self, probably have to reinstall the data just to see if it help. On the main time I 'll have to backup my data onto a external HDD before testing. Also notice it took longer time to load the main menu after rebooting my PS. By the way I'm playing the game on my 120GB slim with both online options enable.

I know this might sound strange but was 'New Game' the only option? Or are you merely stating you had no 'Resume' option. The reason I ask this is because yesterday when I had a 'colour glitch' issue, after I'd rebooted the game, it didn't give me the 'Resume' option but 'Load Game' was still there and upon opening that I could see the save files. From there you should be able to fire up the Auto-save file or at least 'Restart Mission' (I had both these options available to me even though 'Resume' wasn't available on main screen). The funky thing besides this was that I decided to go back to the main menu and the 'Resume' option then appeared.

@up

Check your saves again by reviewing information about them in your system. I know it sounds stupid but i heard about two similiar cases and all they do was just check their data and load/resume option came back. If your save isn't corrupted try it.

Can anyone try the solution mentioned by HeavenlyGuy above? Deleting copy-saved profile file, and trying to load backup then. Beware, you may lose all your in-game achievements this way.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling everything to do with ME2 on your PS3. Then re-load your backup and see if that works

The problem with this issue now is that we are seeing so many different people posting contradictory workarounds etc. It would be nice if Bioware actually posted something, other than "we are looking at it".

My thoughts exactly, it's why I'm trying to test ALL the solutions/preventions I can, so people don't try them and delete/lose their data forever, right now there is a glimmer of hope that EA/BioWare can restore (even partially) our career from their servers, untill they post that is a possibility, I recommend against anyone tampering with their corrupted files, if you really wanna test, make another profile and when THAT becomes corrupted, then play around with these solutions, as I have done, it takes alot of time, but that way you have the hope that your main profile COULD be restored.

Should also point out, if anyone has any solutions they find, please post them here so I can attempt to see if they work.

Thanks.

@AnoHeartilly -

Hey, until the patch is released - as far as

goes, did you ever try evilroot's solution here?  I'm especially curious, since you seem to have had the most exhaustively bad experience out of anyone.  It's apparently worked multiple times for evilroot now, but your feedback on that particular method of data retrieval would be appreciated.  If it's something you can do, given the current state of corrupted files on your machine.

Thanks.
