Hey peoples,

It's been a few years since I played this game, I just became a Jedi Sentinel on Dantooine. My problem is that I seem to have built my character in the worst possible way - I created him as a smooth talking smuggler kind of guy (Scoundrel, focused on blasters with a bunch of points dumped in dexterity, charisma and stealth) who had no idea he would become a Jedi (I'm too much of a role player for my own good) so now that he IS a Jedi, I don't want him to use blasters anymore (I mean, Lightsabers, come on) but he is totally terrible at melee combat. obviously I can pass persuasion checks just fine, but when it gets to combat I suck. Hard. Nearly every fight I have to use tons of shields and medpacs, it's getting on my nerves. Playing on normal by the way.
My question is, is there any way to fix this at such a late stage in the game? Should I just make the best of my situation and start shovelling points into melee skills/feats and hope for the best? Or should I just sneak around every single enemy in the game from now on?

...Or do I just suck?

Theres nothing wrong with a blaster wielding jedi :). Dex is probably the best stat in the game remember theres a hidden feat in the game that uses your dex attribute as your modifier when using lightsabres if its higher than your strength.

you have 2 choices stick with it and try to improve on what you have or start again :)

Just play to your strengths and use party members to cover your weaknesses. If you built your character to use blasters, then stick with blasters for now. I'm assuming you're not very far past Dantooine and therefore probably don't have very good lightsabre crystals. DEX based builds will feel weak in melee until you get the right combination of gear/feats/powers. Scoundrel/Sentinel will never be a straight up beast in combat like the guardian nor will you have the crowd control capabilities of a Consular. Instead, you're an opportunistic killer. Use your stealth and demolitions to scout ahead and lay some mines to even the odds. In a straight up fight you'll need to rely on beefy party members like Canderous or Juhani. Use Jolee or Bastila to stun enemies so you can take advantage of your sneak attack skill.

Bottom line, there's really no bad build per se. Even the most gimped character you can think of could probably finish the game. Heck, the first character I ever made was a Scoundrel/Consular who maxed out the Empathy line of feats. I had no idea what I was doing, but I was still able to finish the game. And if you're really unhappy with your build, just start over and try to plan it out differently.
