Nightmare.

Kinda funny, the first time I played Origins, I had quite a lot of trouble beating it on normal. On all following plays, I went for Nightmare, and it felt really easy actually. So I just need some time to work out the mechanics. ^^

I guess I'll pick Hard then.

It seems like a pretty even tie between the settings so far. GoA introduced difficulty setting related achievements - if present in DA II, would these achievements make you reconsider your preferred difficulty setting?

I'll go for normal then climb my way up on later playthroughs.

Nope. I don't have anything against achievements as such (as long as I can turn them off and / or they're not to irritating) but I just couldn't care less about them.

I usually play every game on Normal. So unless it is too easy (for ex: the companions finishing the boss themselves while I am on phone), I'll stick to Normal

Normal for me. Harder difficulties later on. I swear I'll never understand why gaming and masochism go hand in hand these days...

Normal, more interested in story in Bioware games.

Everything is relative. For me playing on Normal instead of Nightmare would be like going duck hunting with a minigun instead of a shotgun. I could do it, but what would the point be? ;)

Casual like the majority of my playthroughs, I'm more worried about the story and roleplaying. If its ridiculously easy then I will crank it up to normal. But no hard or nightmare for me.

I usually play on Normal. Unless I need to play on a harder difficulty for extra content (like defeating The Harvester on Hard or Nightmare to get 'The Reapers Cudgel')

I'll start with normal. If it's anything like Origins that should be challenging enough for me (in before herp derp dumb fps shooter). Wouldn't mind FF, though, so I might fiddle with the coalesced to see what I can do about that.

Nightmare. I would normally keep the hardest difficulty for subsequent playthroughs, but I need the friendly fire. Nuking my own party with fireball until my enemies die is not my definition of fun.

I played Origins on normal first time out just to get a basic grasp of the game mechanics and how things work, any further play throughs on nightmare. Hard would have been a nice first choice for me personally for DA2, sadly and for some inexplicable reason Bioware have removed friendly fire on hard (friendly fire is a must) so I'm stuck with nightmare first time out.

I'm probabaly a wuss but I always start a game on the lowest difficulty setting until I understand it, then raise it.

So Casual first, then Normal next playthrough.

Gonna have to go with Nightmare for the friendly fire. If a game doesn't offer any challenge, I usually get bored steamrolling the opposition.

Normally, I start with Normal then work my way up. (makes me be able to play more times with increasing difficulty)

According to the chart supplied by the OP, I am second guessing that. Perhaps Hard. I will probably *still* try normal first, easy enough to reroll if I am blowing through things.

It would have been great if friendly fire had been a toggle. I am one of those weirdo's who LIKE the randomness of spells failing, hits completely missing and my team screaming at me "Yo! Watch it Hawke!" if I use a skill that can hurt them. Keeps me awake :)

I wonder if we'll be able to get a mod that would add friendly fire in normal/hard? That would be great.

Ignorant decision to have friendly fire only on nightmare. Forces people to play on the hardest setting for what is the default for most RPGs. Dumb dumb dumb.

That being said, nightmare.

Agreed, I can play on nightmare in DA:O, but my prefered seting is hard, but I do want my friendly fire.

Nightmare is the only way I can play Origins without dying of boredom, and is unlikely to change for DA2.
