I usually play on Normal and that isn't likely to change unless the game becomes to easy, then I set it to hard.

Normal for me. Harder difficulties later on. I swear I'll never understand why gaming and masochism go hand in hand these days...
<_<

Bioware's recent games have been forgiving on their highest difficulties, at least when compared to games in similar genres made by other developers.

I anticipate playing on Nightmare first.

Hmm, I guess I'm the only one that hates friendly fire...

I'm not fond of it in shooters, but in an RPG where I can pause and strategize it isn't so bad.

Nightmare right from the start, expecting it to be even easier than DA:O.

Nightmare - it's relatively easy once you get the hang of it, it wasn't really the challenge I expected when I first played origins, it was more like a semi-hard, specially after 6 nightmare playthroughs.

Easy - I want to focus more on story and characters. Combat is fun, too, but it'll just frustrate me if I'm constantly dying. I want to progress right through it and get on to the next part.

Nightmare - simply because its the only way to play with friendly fire on.

I'll probably play through on normal or casual first because I personally can't stand higher difficulty settings in RNG-based RPGs. Thankfully the new visceral combat system might entice me to crank things up a bit, depending on how it plays.

Easiest. I play games for fun and the story. If I wanted to be challenged I get into a real fight.

Normal for DA2.

I'm playing through DA:O again at the moment because I lost all my save files and didn't know they would affect DA2. I've got it set to Easy because I want to get through it quick and I can't believe just what a huge gap there is between the two.

Casual, since I play for the story and characters, and combat doesn't interest me that much. I hardly ever go above normal difficulty in any game, since failing too many times will quickly make me lose all motivation to finish a game.

Casual... and not just because I want to focus on the story. I'm actually just not very good.

*sob*

I managed to work my way up to normal. I only played the hard level once, on Awakening. I feel deficient when looking at the people who play nightmare or hard on their FIRST playthrough.

Maybe I'll try for normal on DA2 on my first playthrough? I heard that your first taste of gameplay has Hawke and co really overpowered (due to Varric's artistic license) so maybe I'll be able to get a feel for the controls more quickly.

Ideally, one or two difficulty levels above Nightmare. Unless they do Nightmare right this time.

What was wrong with the idea of making a friendly-fire toggle?... I always played Origins in hard and it was just fine but maybe I'll go for nightmare in DA II. I don't want to shoot fireballs for fun without thinking about consequences. Wow, another stupid change I can't understand for this game...

What is this ****? FF only on nightmare?

:(

I'll go with nightmare then. Whos decision was it?

BTW, some conditions for my choice:

1. Enemy AI - it has to use better tricks on higher difficulties, not stat increases!

2. Balance of the game. It was broken in Origins (prior some later patches).

3. Free of stat bugs.

Then I'll stick with nighmare.

Otherwise I'll be back here calling names and kicking ass.

Normal, or hard if normal ends up being too easy.  I spend enough time dead in WoW as it is  Posted Image

Just a note for the folks who find themselves dying a lot on normal.... I'd suggest having a look at the strategy and tactics section of the forum, maybe asking for some advice. If characters are built well, and their tactics set properly, if you make use of pause, and get the party working together as a unit, it's really not very hard to stay alive on normal. I'm guessing something is going wrong there that can be avoided.

Nightmare, and when it's too hard because I went straight to it because that was the only way to have FF, you can be sure I'll **** and complain and blame BioWare and not acknowledge the argument that I should just turn the difficulty down.

Normally I play on one difficulty up from the games standard normal setting but that may change this time because of the FF thing... We shall see.

I'll be playing on casual.

The chop-chop-chop is just there as eye candy for me.  I'm paying to get a good story, fun dialoge, and some action to spice things up.

With that said, the combat still has be be entertaining.  As someone who loves to play mages, the lack of friendly fire is actually going to be kind of lame.  I'll get over it, I'm sure. :lol::lol:

It didn't help that pause wasn't as useful on the Xbox as it was on the PC.
