I apologize upfront for this question but...As one of the original people who had the corruption issue I have been playing again but very cautiously. I have copied many files to a USB drive but I don't see that as an option for ME2 files (ANY of them) am I missing something? All I have been able to do is copy it to my wife's PS3 profile.

^^ When you go to PS3 save game data folder if you scroll down you should see the Mass Effect 2 sace files. 1 of them cannot be copied because it is the profile data. The others can be copied normally. You just have to highlight the save file and press triangle. You should be able to see the option there.

and profile is the thing :)

you cannot copy otions and dlc data but you can copy character data which is most important thing :)

it is described with your character name and level i suppose. it contains every save file

Thats what I have been doing but the only option that comes up is to copy to other profile.  Thanks for the kind answer and not a wise cracking one.  ;)

Have you plugged in a USB memory stick or Hard drive? When we say making a backup file here, we mean copying the save to some other storage, not just making a duplicate one on your account

@ Hizzle32

Have you connected a HD drive or a usb stick properly into the usb ports? It should bring it up when you choose where you want to copy the save file. If not, something is either wrong with your usb ports or the drive/stick connected to them. It works the same way for 90% of PS3 games when trying to copy files.

remember that whatever you connect has to be in FAT32 system file. Otherwise PS3 won't recognize connected device :)

If you have external HDD , make partition in FAT32 and it will work fine. I know that cause thats how I made backup when I was replacing HDD to bigger one :)

Ok the problem was the USB stick. It is no longer recognized by PS3 or my PC so I need to fix that. Put a different one in and worked fine. Thanks and sorry guys.

Doesn't work, firstly both of the "Avoid steps" do not contribute (as posted by many) to the error.

Secondly, I've just tried your fix, didn't work, yes I followed it step perfect, but it made no difference.

Thanks for the attempt, but personally, I think anything short of a sure fire solution to fix it will jeporadize peoples data further, if, as many people think, our data is stored on the EA servers, deleting our corrupted counterpart is surely the final nail in the coffin, because I'm sure it will be impossible to restore the progress without it. It may even be impossible to restore WITH it and the EA part, but stranger things have happened.

No ME2 till patch then. Thanks for heads up.

I think that it's possible them to recover our last data. If they gather our info they shuold able to get it.
If it's designed like this: psn id > characters > progress (levels, stuff, missions) it should be no problem restoring it based on psn id and validating email.
They have my Dragon Age data as I saw here. And I haven't played it for half year.

Exactly, which is why I created a test profile PSN for the sake making a new career, and testing all of the "fix/avoids" after that data got corrupted.

I will not delete my main profiles data, as at the very least I'm sure they'll be able to restore my sheps looks (which I spent a very long time playing around with, and don't think I could get the same again). I also STRONGLY recommend AGAINST anyone deleting their corrupted data.

Great post! But its not possible to back up your saves (1 of the 2 saves is locked, and you need both to load a career)

You do not need both your Save Files and your Game Progress/Settings file in order to load a career. Last night I tried to fix my bypass door freeze issue and deleted my Game Progress/Settings file (the locked file you cant copy) and loaded up my save files just fine. It did not help the bypass freeze though.

Some friends in another forum found that the only thing corrupted is savedata's name, if you back it up to your computer and rename to BLES01133xxx_12__dddddd_??????? replacing xxx with your names 3 first characters and ddddd with your characters creation date(ddmmyy was the correct format on mine)  "_12_" input i suspect is the amount of saves, and ??????? i dont know what does relate for(my save looks like BLES01133JOH_12__090311_4848858).
excuse my english i dont know how to properly explain this.
try it before deleting your save. i hope someone could find the right way to fix it with this info.

Try what? copy my save game from my PS3 to an external drive? I have done it numerous times. Beating Lair of the Shadow Broker? I personally have, as have others too, without any problems. Now I cant force my game to corrupt its data... as I said I always stay disconnected from EA when playing and I have disabled the autosave feature. Maybe thats why I dont have any problems, maybe not. This is a suggestion, an idea. I hope it helps. It cant do any wrong though, the only thing that can come out of trying it if you have the problem is something good.

Sound like it would fix the issue. now my issue is with the hack minigame where the game freeze when I attempt one, I see a post where the workaround is to play the game a 480p:crying: and works for 2, 3 and since then I never use the system. Could you please tell me if this fix could solve this problem because is really annoying to play in that resolution. BTW I can't belive that Bioware doen't give any reply about all this issues, Mass Effect 3 must keep them very busy:whistle:
