So I can't get through The Anvil of the Void, because the game crashes during the fight. I put up with it through the whole game, but it had to ruin it all sooner or later I guess.

Q9550 cpu, GTX570 GPU.

Too little data to do anything much with. social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/2836375

Add your Pagefile "Used" number while you are at it (I suppose I will have to amend the original of the announcement above to include that).

Excuse me a moment while i go headbutt the wall at the fact Steam is still selling a faulty download.

Now that is cleared up you'll want to get hole of EA Download Manager and download the game from there. You won't have to pay again since you have a product key from steam. Just uninstall the one you have and reinstall from EA download manager. You won't lose your saves since it'll prompt you to keep them on uninstall.

A test:  Lower your resolution and change the Nvidia Control Panel settings under 3D Settings > Adjust image settings with preview  to "Let the 3D application decide".  Let's see if you can get through the battle then.

Allright, I actually didn't think there was anything to be done about it, from reading general forums. But I'll have a look into it. Thanks all.

As far as I can tell there isn't any ultimate edition to download from EA, am I missing something perhaps?

I believe it's software-driven.  I've never done it, but I believe you have to install the EA Download Manager from http://www.ea.com/1/download-manager  and use that to get your backup copy.  If you don't know them already, might be helpful to pull the license key and the DLC authorization code thingy from the Steam launcher before you do.

Okay, I deleted the Steam download, and I downloaded again from EA, using EA downloader.

Now all my DLC is unauthorized again, and the updater does not show up in the list of services.

Any solution?

Edit: Okay, this last thing sorted itself out after a restart. So I'm running the EA download now. Whether it remains stable we shall see, but thanks to you all for your help and advice regardless.

What graphics settings are you trying to play at, anyway?  Screen res, AA, all that.

What about the Nvidia control panel?
