I think you're placing too much importance on a game play mechanic. In order to play DLC after the suicide mission you must have 2 squadies alive. This is why Shepard can't survive with less than 2 squadies. It has nothing to do with how ME3 will start. ME3 will start with the same number of squadies that ME2 started with, which is the same number of squadies that ME1 started with...zero. This is also a game play mechanic. The beginning of the game is the tutorial where a new player learns how to move and to interact with the environment of the game and veteran players are introduced to any new elements...like thermal clips. Only later are squadies added and then you learn how to move them.Deganis76 wrote...
SEMI-SPOILER ALERT BELOW:
Let me dispel a rumor: all squad members cannot die on a transferrable save game from ME2. That is because of the simple fact ihat in order for Shepard to survive the suicide mission (and thus, for that game file to be exportable to ME3) at least two squad members must be alive. (See link below, SPOILER ALERT: http://social.biowar...-5855452-1.html)
Last time I checked 2 surviving squad mates make for a complete party, thus you could potentially play through the entirity of ME3 with those two squadmates. The only variable would be that you would just not have the squadmates who died available in your party. And FYI, you can actually play through (and successfully finish) ME2 without a full squad recruited. Same goes for ME1.

That is entirely possible. I mainly wanted to dispel the rumor that "players can import save games with no surviving squad mates" because that is not possible. 0 surviving squad mates = Shepard's death and thus that is the end of that Shepard's story and that game (and all variables associated with it) will not be transferable to ME3.
My guess (and that's all it is is a guess) is that your squad in ME3 will consist of some old ME1 squadmates, some old ME2 squadmates, and some brand new squadmates. That way it is fair to everyone: veteran ME1 & ME2, players, ME2 only players (such as our new PS3 players), and people brand new to the series. The reason for this is simple marketing: you want to satisfy the expectations of your existing customer base, but also appeal to, and not exclude, new players. Retain, and expand!

I think she's referring to the same development team (Christina Norman is the gameplay designer, not a writer)

Meaning she is not HR either, and thus wouldn't really have any say in who was on the team of developers, right? Besides, with Drew doing KoTR, your claim would seem amiss already there.

I think the whole slide needs to be watched to get that understanding, but fair enough. I acknowledge it after having watched that slide.
