I'm guessing you'll have to pick a side. So who will you pick?

I started a poll too: http://social.biowar...89/polls/14398/

I'll probably pick mages, because they certainly need to  have more freedoms.

Mage - Mages

Warrior - Knights Templar

Rogue - Neutral

Then I will go pick the Knights Templar with my mage for the lulz.

LOL, the Templars in the game are just called Templars. I'll always side with the Templars and only side with mages for the achievement. I hate mages apart from my mage character because he was arcane warrior and wasn't running away from people like he had sh*t himself.

I shall not choose one way or the other!

It is not as simple as that. I would pick a side based on the moral sensibilities of my character and the goals of each faction. Choosing without context is impossible. My mage could easily end up siding with templars if she felt they had the moral high ground. Unless I am playing a self serving type. In that case whichever side offers the most wins.

With the mages, no matter what class I play. I would side with the Templars once just to see the content, though.

The mages. If only because I can't quite wrap my head around preemptive imprisonment.

Im hoping if there is a choice it fairly displays the good and bad in both mages and templars.

Neutral - I'm a self serving Hawke.

I will be playing a Female Hawke, Rogue. Depending on how the relationship between HAwke and her sister goes, I might have Hawke stay neutral, or eventually lean towards siding with the mages. Family loyalty, after all. :P

If the mages are an 'at all costs' sort of group then that's where I'll draw the line most likely, no need to harm innocents.

I'm not at all sure theis will be a Templars vs Mages conflict. In fact, I think it's not all that likely, except as a side plot, perhaps. That doesn't mean there might not be templars and mages in opposition, but I don't think it will be the central struggle. But hypothetically speaking, it would depend entirely on what's going on and who's doing what. It the templars haven't completely gone off the rails like the one in Awakening, my instinct would be to side with them.

Generally I would side with the Templars, but it would depend on situation. So i guess you could say I'm neutral.

My mage will probably side with her own, and so will the rogue - unless the mages are all for world domination and demons and blah. Having said that, my mage will be ruthless, so if it suits her better, she will sell out the other mages.

I'd actually prefer to reconcile the two, so that the mages get more autonomy but the templars are still there to deal with the bad ones. Maybe that means I'll go neutral after all.

If the Mages actually stand up of their own volition and fight for their freedoms and recruit Hawke to help, he will. Not even the wuss* Bethany will be able to persuade Hawke.

If the Mages won't stand up until after Hawke starts the fight, then Hawke ain't helping them he will actively hurt them with his sword to their face.

The Mages must prove to Hawke they actually deserve his help before he will help them. If they want freedom they better start using their powers for something other than what they are told to do by their slave masters.

Plus if given the oppurtunity the Chantry is going to go down like the Titanic.

*Wuss: someone who rellies on anything but cold hard steel** to fell their enemies.

**Steel is just an example it could be dragonbone or whatever.

The mages get my support no matter what class I play. I have no tolerance for militant zealots that hunt and kill "apostates" because they're not under Chantry control.

That said, if it's to do with evil mages, then I'll side with whoever's going to try and stop them.

Pretty much depends how the sides are presented. From an DA:O/A view I'd side with the mages. But if the mage leader(s) turn out to be right jerks and the templars rather reasonable then I could as well end up with the templars. Really depends on the situation my Hawke gets confronted with.

Apostate is just another word for runaway slave. In other words a frakkin wussy to scared to fight for his/her freedom. Apostates get what they deserve. If you are an Apostate and are not actively fighting the slavers Hawke has no sympathy for you.

As for Templars, they are drug addicted morons who by their addiction made themselves slaves. They should be executed on sight for being so stupid and useless.

From that perspective alone is how I base my distaste of all things Chantry, Mages, & Templars. If Alistair had become a full Templar before joining the Wardens I would have sided with the wife of the dead king, even if she was a stone cold ****.

Seriously, I hate the chantry, but having mages running around wild is just as bad. The status quo we have now is the best solution.
