I only use the visor, see my avatar. The main complaint about the DLC armor was that there was no helmet toggle. Also, there are PC mods that give Shepard Miranda's the breather mask. So, it's safe to say they are not the most popular aspect of ME2 armor.
Your Shepard is great. From some of the pics you posted in the FemShep thread a while back she almost looks like a watercolor painting.
I just use the visor, I prefer to see my Shepard's face while she's talking. In fact, thanks to the "casual outfits beyond Normandy" mod, I don't even use armor

It wouldn't make sense to approach this like BioWare did with Dragon Age where helmets do not appear in conversation screens and cutscenes. Taking your helmet off every time you spoke to someone would get rather tiresome, also, the helmet not being displayed in the middle of an action-oriented cutscene looks very strange for someone like me who pays attention to every little detail.
I also believe it wouldn't make sense to have a hide/show feature. For me, it just doesn't feel right and completely ruins immersion when someone has full head protection from armor, but has nothing visible on their head. I notice little details like this for realism. Now, before anyone says anything, yes I am completely aware this is a fantasy game, but truth be told realism is becoming more and more common in these types of games.
Or, BioWare could aim to satisfy everyone, and have every possible combination possible for helmet rendering, although I can see how that would be a whole lot of extra unnecessary work.
At any rate, regardless of what helmet rendering system is in effect in Mass Effect 3, I'll still play it because I love the franchise, and if it uses the same system as Mass Effect 2, I will no doubt have my helmet on, because it's just more realistic.

In ME2, I never use a helmet because once you don it, you don't have the option to remove it until you're back at the Normandy. I've never used the DLC armours for the same reason, except the one that came in pieces. A waste of perfectly good resources, but it's more important for me to see my character's face. Isn't that what the cinematic experience is supposed to be about?

Lack of a toggle makes certain parts of the game look ridiculous if you're wearing a full face helmet.
And don't get me started on the single piece pre-order armours.
ME1 did it perfectly and I still can't get my head around why it was changed.

If I'm using my soldier then I use the visor, and if I haven't bought that one yet I use the sentry visor thing.

Because going to war without a helmet is stoooooopid and work only in a holywood movies.
So, ME3 should:
- have different types of headgear..from fully face-concealing ones to eye patches.
- have a toggle to take the helmet on/off (you don't get the same armor bonus if it's off tough)
(extra) have face-conceling helmets sometimes open up during conversations (if they are on)

simply because it is more realitsic,
it'd be nice to see my sheps face out of combat though.

I do tend to use visors though.

I used to use them in my 1st playthroughs... but only the N7 helmet, never anything else. I also never used anythin' besides N7 or/& Kestrel armor. Everythin' else just seems wrong to me, although Collector stuff is funny.lawp79 wrote...

What and having team mates covort around hostile environemnts and battlefields, in pieces of string and underwear isn't stupid?

Maybe they will do a face-palm and fix this massive oversight for ME3, but I imagine making videos of character interviews for TV advertising will be more important than fixing this thing that everyone hates.
This isnt like thermal clip hate were half the community hates that crap and the console tards love it, its something everyone cant stand.
Me, I use the visors but on occasion don't mind putting on the recon hood for side missions were I wont be talking or talking is limited.

I too, do not wear any full helmets, because of the lack of a toggle. A real shame.

Tell us how you really feel. But if half hate it and half don't hate how does it magically turn into something that 'everyone cant stand'?
