I usually use the headset with the eye piece or the one with the recon pack that covers both eyes. Occasionally though I'll where a lid if I'm going on a mission that I don't need to do the talky, talky.

I used em in ME1... always toggled em off before a cutscene though. Hardly use them in ME2 though since I can't toggle from squad menu... man I hate that

I only use the visor, see my avatar. The main complaint about the DLC armor was that there was no helmet toggle. Also, there are PC mods that give Shepard Miranda's the breather mask. So, it's safe to say they are not the most popular aspect of ME2 armor.

Your Shepard is great. From some of the pics you posted in the FemShep thread a while back she almost looks like a watercolor painting.

I just use the visor, I prefer to see my Shepard's face while she's talking. In fact, thanks to the "casual outfits beyond Normandy" mod, I don't even use armor

Just the eye-piece that give you +10% headshot. I have a Shepard for every class and all 6 of them have this eye-piece/headgear. Their armor may vary (most have the Off-hand ammo pack for arms and the heavy weapon ammo pack for legs) but the shoulder and chest plates vary.

In response to the title of this thread: nope. Tried the Aegis helmet for a while then went back to the eye pieces.

A collapsible design where the front of the helmet retracts is the best option, and it's the only one that ideally makes sense.

It wouldn't make sense to approach this like BioWare did with Dragon Age where helmets do not appear in conversation screens and cutscenes. Taking your helmet off every time you spoke to someone would get rather tiresome, also, the helmet not being displayed in the middle of an action-oriented cutscene looks very strange for someone like me who pays attention to every little detail.

I also believe it wouldn't make sense to have a hide/show feature. For me, it just doesn't feel right and completely ruins immersion when someone has full head protection from armor, but has nothing visible on their head. I notice little details like this for realism. Now, before anyone says anything, yes I am completely aware this is a fantasy game, but truth be told realism is becoming more and more common in these types of games.

Or, BioWare could aim to satisfy everyone, and have every possible combination possible for helmet rendering, although I can see how that would be a whole lot of extra unnecessary work.

At any rate, regardless of what helmet rendering system is in effect in Mass Effect 3, I'll still play it because I love the franchise, and if it uses the same system as Mass Effect 2, I will no doubt have my helmet on, because it's just more realistic. :P

I always used helmets on missions in ME1, and took them off for longer dialogues. I usually left them off on the bigger quest worlds where there was bound to be a lot dialogue, but would put them back on when heading out on the Mako.

In ME2, I never use a helmet because once you don it, you don't have the option to remove it until you're back at the Normandy. I've never used the DLC armours for the same reason, except the one that came in pieces. A waste of perfectly good resources, but it's more important for me to see my character's face. Isn't that what the cinematic experience is supposed to be about?

I always just use the eyepiece (don't remember what it is called), it looks cool, give you some bonus, and don't cover the entire face.

As so many others, the only helmet I used was the visor since I want to see my Shep's face. Spent enough time designing and playing with the guy for him not to be hidden during cutscenes. I really hope (and I really thing they will considering how many people want this and it should be a trivial thing to do) they go back to hiding helms during cutscenes and so on in ME3.

Only ever use the Visor head gear.

Lack of a toggle makes certain parts of the game look ridiculous if you're wearing a full face helmet.

And don't get me started on the single piece pre-order armours.

ME1 did it perfectly and I still can't get my head around why it was changed.

Let's see, I mostly use the Recon Hood becuase I get a little quarian-feel with it on.

If I'm using my soldier then I use the visor, and if I haven't bought that one yet I use the sentry visor thing.

Yes.

Because going to war without a helmet is stoooooopid and work only in a holywood movies.

So, ME3 should:
- have different types of headgear..from fully face-concealing ones to eye patches.
- have a toggle to take the helmet on/off (you don't get the same armor bonus if it's off tough)

(extra) have face-conceling helmets sometimes open up during conversations (if they are on)

i am using the blood dragon armour in one playthrough,
simply because it is more realitsic,

it'd be nice to see my sheps face out of combat though.

No, not usually, but on my next play-through I shall use the Blood Dragon Armour as I got it with Dragon Age a couple of months ago and I think that has the helmet as standard.

I do tend to use visors though.

I use various helmets depending on their bonus and class. Wouldn't mind a toggle option however.

I used to use them in my 1st playthroughs... but only the N7 helmet, never anything else. I also never used anythin' besides N7 or/& Kestrel armor. Everythin' else just seems wrong to me, although Collector stuff is funny.

Been using them in ME1 when it was appropriate (on planets with hostile atmospheres) and used them in ME2 for their functions, but did (and will) try to remove them before Cutscenes...the one I found most obtrusive was the one in ME2 that increased your Bargaining abilities with Merchants (can't remember what it was called) you had no choice but to have it equipped during those scenes.

What and having team mates covort around hostile environemnts and battlefields, in pieces of string and underwear isn't  stupid?  :D

That is stupid too.

Armor exists for a reason.

Pretty much freaking unanimous that everyone dislikes the helmets covering Shepard's face, so one must ask; how did the game get through with it being in ME1 and everyone hating that you couldn't do it in ME2?

Maybe they will do a face-palm and fix this massive oversight for ME3, but I imagine making videos of character interviews for TV advertising will be more important than fixing this thing that everyone hates.

This isnt like thermal clip hate were half the community hates that crap and the console tards love it, its something everyone cant stand.

Me, I use the visors but on occasion don't mind putting on the recon hood for side missions were I wont be talking or talking is limited.

Collapsible helmets would indeed be awesome, if well applied.

I too, do not wear any full helmets, because of the lack of a toggle. A real shame.

No, I want to but I can't stand not seeing Shepards face in conversations. I prefer the Dragon Age solution.

Tell us how you really feel. But if half hate it and half don't hate how does it magically turn into something that 'everyone cant stand'?
