I always use helmets.

I can't think of one time where I didn't have a helmet on.

My how this thread has degenerated. If helmets end up being removed entirely like some elements that were removed going from ME1 to ME2, I will blame threads like this one.

I want helmets to be an LI in ME3 and DLC.

I tend to use the visor, safe in the knowledge that it will be overridden with a helmet if the environment demands it.

I highly doubt helmets would be removed because of some threads. I mean there are people who are urging for a helmet with a "collapse-able" design. Besides, I found a few of the helmets from ME2 were kind of useful. I'd just like more options.

I never use helmets in ME2. I did, however, use them quite a bit in ME1.

The only time I don't wear one is when I'm on the Normandy, because I can't.
Nothing is more full retard then not wearing a helmet into a high-tec gun fight.

Sometimes I wear the faceless one.

I hope Bioware would make helmet's collaspable in ME3.

They could use a helmet system similar to the one in Dead Space 2, when Issac talks to someone his helmet folds up and collapses into his armor.

You have a video card in that PC you play on? Do you have a fan cooling it or do you eject your heat sink ever 8 hours of use and put a new one in? Do you ever cut partialy used video card heat sinks in half to reclaim the unused portion of the thermal clip....I mean heat sink? Becouse stuff never cooling off is realistic, right?

That is not a good comparison.

I have an EVGA Nvidia 8800 GTX that runs hot. That thing can go up to 80 °C (176 °F) and runs around 65 - 68 °C idle, which is much hotter than the average graphics card. I have used it for at least two years, and a month ago I had to replace the heat sink with a new one.

Heat sinks in the ME universe are most likely some form of ceramic material. Ceramics can withstand very high temperatures. Anywhere around 1,000 °C to 1,600 °C (1,800 °F to 3,000 °F).

And we do not know exactly how Thermal Clips work, just the results from gameplay. If you watch the ME2 animation what gets ejected is glowing orange, which has to be around 1,100 °C (2,010 °F) to 1,200 °C (2,190 °F).

So, how does that ceramic material get cooled down so quickly to allow ME weapons to keep firing? So from my understanding the ejectable material is more realistic when dealing with that kind of heat.

Also the US Navy has railguns, which are mass accelerator weapons, and the main problem with them is the immense heat generated when fired, so ME universe type weapons are right around the corner.

And stop insulting dude.

Hey Praetor . . some of those vid cards run so hot they will melt the solder in the joints holding components in place. . I had a old Nivida card do that . . . and not only did a Capacitor fall loose, but so did one of the super small resistors!

lol what a mess. . . . anyway back on topic. . .

Did I mention I miss the helmet toggle? :P *ponders*

Ha! Good luck out there!

I use helmets when going into combat.  I take it off when I'm talking to people.... it makes sense.  (I dislike helmet kissing and helmet drinking.)

Now, as I mentiond feel free to disagree, but as I mentiond perhaps you could stick with just PM-ing me with your opinions, and thats all they are, and we can keep this thread about helmets, ok?

Why didn't you jsut PM me insted of writing a essay and THE Nsayying this?

To keep this short - I disagree with you here. But let's not de-rail this.

The visor that improves headshot damage is a favorite. The sentry interface (Dr. Pepper reward is good), and there's one more that starts with an "A" that isn't too concealing.

Yeah, I miss having the option to turn helmets on/off for Shep and squadmates at any point in the game.  I could take it off for cut scenes and put it back on for combat.  All squadmates had REAL helmets, too.  I would like collapsible helmets that retract during cutscenes and activate during combat.  That'd be great.

Never use helmets. I like to see Shepard when he talks--not that he has a particularly great emotional expression.

In ME1 i did because you could toggle it off, while still retaining the buffs. Also, i think it toggled off in cut scenes. Regardless, in combat and on hostile worlds it was on.
In ME2 they completely removed the toggle function. NO idea why, it's one of the more puzzling design choices. SO, I never wear a helmet in ME2.

This. I use the visor/sentry interface. I get a minor bonus and can still see my face/drink/kiss/have people recognize me.

I have almost all of the DLC armour and I never use it because of the lack of helmet toggle. >_<

I never wore helmets in ME1 when I had the option too. The one exception being Eden Prime. It just seemed proper given how you start the level. For ME2 the only head gear I ever used was the one-eyed visor.

Here's hoping Bioware brings back the helmet toggle for ME3. Another feature that'd be nice to have is DA:O's system of automatically removing your party's helmets during conversations.

I like wearing a helmet to tuchunka, makes the krogan headbutt more believable. i also wear one to purgatory, migrant fleet, derilect reaper, collector ship, and basically any mission that doesn't take place in a town or some emotional mission....i usually wear a full helmet or the default n7 helmet on a mission where you use a breather at some point (legion recruitment and shadow broker) because i think it's cool the way the snap from mouth open to breather helmet suggests. also you can take the helmet off before you talk to liara at the end of her mission so it's not so bad. Plus the visor looks cool (and you can see shep's face behind most visors.) I usually wear one for the N7 missions as well as the Hammerhead missions because why not? Eyebrows aren't always as important as looking like a total badass.

devs should cut helmets out of cutscenes & non-mission areas.looks silly shopping in full gear. also, i'd like 2 know what ur team's armor value is considering they aren't smart enough 2 stay alive on their own, it would b nice if they weren't half-naked too.if u wnt more rpg elements u should have wearable armor for th others.
