On another note, do you know if there is ANY possibility that our corrupted data can be restored? Or is it just a case of starting over and hoping it doesn't happen again?

We're still investigating this but it looks unlikely as the data is lost by an incomplete write action when the game runs out of allocatable blocks large enough.

Hey, Jesse, lovely to see you :D Well done on a successful release and glad to see you are still involved in the forum (heard that you got some entirely unnecessary grief <_<) You're aces in my book, you took time to answer me personally when I had a question and I am glad you have tough enough skin to deal with the forums, you know they say you always hurt the one you love and BioWare fans moan but it is cos they love you all.

And thanks for including Kaidan/Ashley in the PS3 game (not sure DH did it justice, but that is nothing to do with you ;))
Anyway, rambling..................  I'll shut up now......
Thanks again for the update!

Huge thanks to the Mass Effect 2 team for your tireless efforts. While some players have had fierce kneejerk reactions to the problems in the initial retail version, it's obvious that many saw fit to give you guys enough time to analyze and fix the most pressing issues. You guys deserve praise for the simple reason that you were able to bring Mass Effect 2 to PlayStation 3 to begin with.

That's great, Chris, thanks for keeping us informed. It is quite buggy atm..... The HH gets irrevocably stuck in the scenery, I mean literally. Also is it just one of those things (first play through romancing Jacob) Kasumi has made me paranoid that I did something wrong because she keeps talking about Jacob being back on the market. It isn't something I have come across before as I remain faithful in 99% of my games but want to experience different story arcs. So if someone can confirm that Kasumi isn't as in touch as she thinks she is that would be super.... Or at least that I just have a dialogue glitch. Anyway thought I would mention it in case it is something that needs looking at :-)
Thanks again, nice to see that BioWare are working tirelessly to fix things.

I heard.. if I delete the whole mass effect 2 data :crying: apart from my back
up then re-install it.. then load my back up, It will work? Please..
Bioware let this be true :o

I can't see how this would work :(  That doesn't mean it wont work, I would just be very pleasantly surprised at how it would?

The theory goes that if you have backups from BEFORE the corruption, you can delete all ME2 data off your hard drive (including the corrupted save file) then reinstall and copy your backup back, this will theoretically then load up.

Please test it as this might help a couple of people!

Thanks Chris Priestly!!!

Im very impressed with how swiftly you guys responded to our problems and its much appreciated.

Just two things:

(1) Will we get a patch to fix the problems with the Overlord DLC? The on foot combat sections work great but when your driving in the Hammerhead the terrain looks pixelated and some areas dont even load textures. Then theres the driving through walls and your Hammerhead disappearing into the ground. These sections really spoil a great game and put a very undeserved negative light on ME2. See the Gamerspot review to see what i mean.

(2) The second thing is the final mission when you enter the Omega 4 relay. That entire scene is ruined by black screens e.g What i mean is when the game cuts from say Joker to the outer space battle with the Normandy there are these transitional black screens that pop up for a second and it carries on the entire 5 - 10 minute scene during transitions till the Normandy comes to a stop. It really kinda spoils the whole immersion factor you guys are going for.

It would be great if you guys could look into those problems and little irritations.

Thank you and you're very welcome!

As for DH and Genesis's Kaidan/Ash representation, totally not the best place for discussing that.  Feel free to PM me your thoughts or post in the Story or General Discussion - I love feedback (as long as it's constructive and full of suggestions) :D

Oh you don't need to remove all your data, just the save data.  The DLC shouldn't be affected as we don't have 'write permissions' to any area outside of the system cache and the save area.

Hmm, well the theory is defunct then, thanks for letting me know Jesse. Any news on removing the copyright protection on the progress/settings file, this prevents us from making what could be extremely useful back ups

Thanks for the update and the reasonably quick turnaround for the patch.

I'm still mourning the 46 hours I've almost certainly lost, but it says something about the overall quality of the story that I was even willing to log that time in about a week...

Hmm, let me take a look into it tomorrow when I'm back in the office (I generally troll the forums on my personal time).  I've not seen us (ME2 PS3) put anything but the bare minimum required protection that Sony requires us to.  That being said, if there is something we can do to help enable users to have a good experience I'm all for it.

That also being said, in general there are very tight and hard to follow rules against copying data from one place to another because of cheating and hacking concerns.  Especially anything that can directly affect your ability to receive trophies.   For example, we have to walk a very fine line to allow any copying what-so-ever because if we allow you to copy your entire Career and saves to another profile we'd be allowing you to load right before the last part of the game and unlock the last trophy even though you've not 'earned it'.

Not trying to excuse the rules or the code, just letting you guys know the context of some of the rules we as a 3rd party developer are required to work under.

Yeah, I know............ That's why I did the winky face :D

Any idea about that Kasumi glitch I mentioned earlier, or is that not something for the patch? (I am sure I did everything 'right')  It just seems that she is out of sync with what I think is happening in the game....

It's for exactly this reason that we're doing everything we can to move it to you as fast as reasonably possible. I know I personally have lost saves in other games and empathize the loss when reading these forums.   I have to be careful remember to ensure that any changes we do in the patch are of the highest quality balanced against getting you the patch as fast as possible

Well thanks for clearing it up, I can't argue with the facts! Silly Sony and their rules.
I can mention though, that the other save file, the one with the characters name and class isn't locked, but it seems to be useless on it's own, I don't know if this will help in your looking into it

Thank you guys for the quick response with the bugs, it demonstrates you care about the fanbase and are concerned for fixing the problems asap. I wouldn't be so pissed about these bugs if the game was bad but it turns out it's not, it's a complete masterpiece and that's why I am so irked for not being able to have a complete experience with the game. I suppose I can wait for the patch release for next week before buying the game. Keep up the good work! :)

BioWare, this is what makes you guys an awesome company. Thanks for looking for and listening to PS3 users concerns and getting on top of it! You guys rock!

Any idea when we'll be able to register our game?

I haven't had any serious problems, but I just want to thank all the folks at Bioware who've been listening to feedback and are working on the patch. While obviously developer and player alike would prefer that everything worked perfectly on day one, it's really quite remarkable that a port of a year-old game to a single platform is being given so much attention.

Come to think of it guys: "-Slightly improved load times and level streaming." might well fix the out of sync issue as it is caused by a framerate drop.

I was starting to think the same thing i am hoping you are right. Just to know for sure, can we get confirmation on this Bioware?  Thanks again for the quick patch guys!

Your promptness and professionalism are greatly appreciated, BioWare.

I anticipate word on whether or not corrupted profiles will be reversible, but I'm also being realistic.
