celestialbeing, i wouldnt go that far by saying that the game is defective since most people havent experienced the major bugs, its just a small group of people that really got bad luck. i mean if most of the people here are only worried that they may have the issue during the game, and when i found out about this problem, i bought the game i waited a few days for the patch because i was also afraid, but since its taking too long for the patch to be released i just decided to risk and play and i havent got any problem. if i didnt read about this i would just recomend to everyone with a ps3 to buy this epic game saying that they did a perfect port. it varies from person to person.

You have no idea what you are talking about. And you even say that yourself. You just STARTED to play. Wait. Wait and see what happens.
Anyway there are a couple of things that your copy of the game its suffering right now, to name just the less, the lack of image audio sync. Or try the dlc and watch the textures on the environment.
And how can I know those thing?...because theres only one version of the game available, they didnt made a Mass effect 2 davidsilvas Edition, so your copy have all the exact same problems everyonelses.
Just wait and see for yourself, but in the meantime, please dont comment about something that you dont know about, cause you make all the rest of us to look like whiners. And we are not.

And notice that not a single person in here its complaining about the game itself (story, sound, graphs, etc) but about technical issues. We all agree this is a master piece. They just need to fix everything else.

I think davidsilva means the freezing and save corruption when he talks about major bugs. I'm one of those people who has had no major problems in my game, and I've been playing for  60+ hours. Sure, I get audio desyncing and very likely PSX-quality textures on Overlord (haven't played that DLC yet), but no freezes, no save corruption, no black screens, no squad members in midair, no rainbow effects, no missing models, no Cerberus Pack problems, etc. None of those.

The game is not defective. For a game to be defective it would have to not work whatsoever. If your PS3 can load the game and get to the main menu then it's not broken. If you can start playing a game it's not broken. it's that simple.

Patches take time and must go through Q&A testing before they're released.

GJR84- what i meant is that not everyone have experienced those major bugs, and i havent just started, i am in more then 40 hours of game and just finished the shadow broker mission that some complain to be broken, and everything was normal even the audio synch was perfect during the cutscenes and that is why i say that sometimes developers dont noticed the problems, i mean after all this time i played i would aprove the game with nothing major to report only the bad textures in project overlord and some audio out synch sometimes. so i say the issues varies from user to user, there are people here that finished the game with no problems at all, just the NG+glitch.

That would be a great idea, if it weren't for the fact that using the included Cerberus code makes the game essentially worthless in terms of resale value.

Plus, not everyone has a PC that can handle a game like this.

Well I guess I'm one of the lucky few on PS3 to not have experienced any of these issues. I've only have had two times when it's froze and that's from extensive playing. I'm all ready on my second playthrough with no troubles.

Though hopefully they do fix all of those problems for everyone who is experiencing them.

Was able to play the entire game in 48 hours, no corrupted saves, only freezed once (including shadowbroker mission). However, I did notice a significant slow-down during the shadowbroker but thankfully no freeze/corrupt data.

I had some audio lag during the game and some minor freezes for a few seconds. Comes to the last mission and everything falls apart for me. Have got 3 "cannot read disc errors" so far, no audio whatsoever most of the time (except for background music), game freezes going into and out of cutscenes but continues after 15-20 seconds (disc read errors aside).I have been loving the game so far but this is seriously game breaking.

Do you want them to whisper sweet nothings in your ear until the patch gets approved by Sony?

Lets face it, Bioware is currently developing Dragon Age II. They dont have the time or men to fix this any time soon. Plus, at first it seemed to be like one or maybe two bugs, but the more beta test...mmm...I mean...gamers...got to play the game, more and more bugs have been reported.

I'd really like to play at some point (like a lot of folks) without having to constantly back up saves and being worried something's gonna go wrong with my save (or worse). For the last few weeks, it's just been gathering dust as I (and a lot of folks) wait on that promised patch. Hopefully that patch shows up this week sometime, or at least a real update on its progress.....because as it stands, I'm honestly regretting dropping $60 on this instead of Dragon Age: Ultimate.

That still doesn't make it okay. Fixing this issue should be a top priority (not saying it isn't but based on the lack of feedback it is starting to seem like it).
