Chris, you said you didn´t have much of an update but the fact that now its verified that the patch is in Sony´s hands is a big update.

Well, for me at least.

The question I have is when did Sony receive and how long they've had it.

probably not long if Chris waited till now to post that. You think he and others at Bioware were just oblivious to the mountains of hate they've been getting here? Why would they take the blow if Sony had it? My guess is they just sent it to Sony shortly before Chris posted that

Or... he was busy? He's been posting a LOT in the Dragon Age II forums. All week, actually. I wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor in his updating us about the patch now.

I mean it could be either or. I'm just puttin' it out there. I'm no one's apologist, but I do believe in fairness.

Too busy for a 5 second statement when that's his job. Are you serious here or are you so blinded by fanboyism? Do you honestly believe it would have taken any effort or time to write what he just did if Bioware had the patch a week or two ago? If you do, I honestly and truly pity you. The fact that he has been so busy on other forums proves he was avoiding these threads.

Talk about a nuclear response...

Whatever makes you happy, dude. Or keeps you unhappy, as the case may be.

i don't think they test the fixes within the game. The Sony certification process is just to make sure it doesn't break the PS3, xmb, firmware or anything else already installed on the PS3 etc.

Ignore him dude. He's a troll that's now trying to save his own ass after telling everyone the patch wont be out till months.

Well my game just shat itself and now I need to go hit some stuff. As tempted as I am to jump right back into it and start again, I think I'll just wait for the patch.

Lazy f@#kers at Sony.

And yes. I did try the workaround.I messed it up though. I knew I was pushing my luck with that last gameplay session...

Well apparently the patch was sent off almost 2 weeks ago to Sony for them to test it.

I suspect that since the patch deals with a problem related to data corruption they'd be more thorough than usual. If the glitch is causing the corruption of data on the console then I suspect they'd really want to make sure that it doesn't cause more widespread corruption,

Basically, because it affects some funtions of the system itself (save corruption) rather than gameplay I think Sony would be more careful in testing this patch than they would in testing a purely gameplay patch.

How could we possibly know? there has been no official confirmation that the NG+ bug has been fixed. This doesn't necessarily mean that the bugfix won't be in the patch, however.

I would just like to know when the patch will be available.  Is there any way that someone can give me a rough date as to when the patch will be ready to download?

Chris Priestly wrote...

Hello everyone

First, we are sorry some of you have had problems playing Mass Effect 2 on the Playstation 3 and want to thank you all for providing feedback on our forums on both the freezing and resulting save game issue that some of you have experienced. The information and support you have provided has helped the development team to build the latest patch. We’re currently testing the patch thoroughly, we expect to be finished our quality passes on Friday.  This patch is then being delivered to Sony ASAP for verification and distribution. We will announce as soon the patch is available.  Please see the below patch notes for a complete list of what will be included:

Patch Notes
-Fixed a crash related to memory fragmentation. This fix will also resolve the crashing that corrupted Save Games.
-Slightly improved load times and level streaming.
-Added some telemetry to better improve future titles.
-Updated some strings to fix spelling mistakes (Sorry Kaidan!)
-Fixed the picture frame in Shepard’s Cabin to accurately reflect your love interest choices in Mass Effect: Genesis.
-Fixed a rare crash in the PSN version in Shepard’s Cabin.

We want you to be able to continue playing while you wait for the patch. While data and telemetry have shown that very few people have seen this issue, we know a few of you here have experienced this problem.  There is a very simple work around to ensure  the freezing and corruption issues are minimized. Simply restart your game every few hours. By shutting down and restarting your game, you will not encounter the corrupted save issue.”

Once again, thank you for your feedback which has helped us get to a resolution. :)

Hi, Guys.

Let me make small summary of the patch:

"Fixed a crash related to memory fragmentation. This fix will also resolve the crashing that corrupted Save Games."
Never happened to me - hopefully will never do.

"Slightly improved load times and level streaming"
This would work, sometimes you have to wait SOOO LONG to play further.

"Added some telemetry to better improve future titles."
OK

"Updated some strings to fix spelling mistakes (Sorry Kaidan!)"
"Fixed the picture frame in Shepard’s Cabin to accurately reflect your love interest choices in Mass Effect: Genesis."
"Fixed a rare crash in the PSN version in Shepard’s Cabin."

PLEASE - I don't care about glitched photo in Shepard's cabin, fo Christ's sake. Why not solve the problem with delayed sound instead? I'm doing the third walkthrough right now and still the sound is delayed in EVERY cutscene, for one or even more seconds. It's impossible to enjoy the game with such a problem. The whole joy goes down... I think this is the issue Bioware should focus on, instead of fixing the love photo in the cabin...

Anyone knows anything about potential sound fix maybe? I'm thinking about putting playing the game on hold until it'll be fixed as I don't want to ruin the experience again (especially not now when I started to play via 5.1 surround system).

Apart from that - the game is great and I thank you for it, Bioware :)

I was actually going to double-dip on ME2 for the PS3 (I do have it already on PC), but with these sound issues I am not going to buy this... at least until they are resolved...

My guess is that this will be the one and only patch we ever see for ME2 PS3. I doubt NG+ or the sound sync issue will get fixed. The xbox version still has some bugs that never got patched...DAO on PS3 still has plenty of bugs that never got patched - Awakenings anyone?

They'll wash their hands of it after this and move on to ME3 or more DLC.

NG+ glitch means you wont get to import your earned armor and weapons after completing the game into a new game, though it should.

I honestly am surprised there are people who are not bothered with the sound issues... I mean, that is a serious quality problem... imagine you pay to go see some great masterpiece movie... and it turn out it is out of sync...

the dialogs and sound quality are so damn great in this game, it is a real pity that something stupid as synchronization butchered it...
