Seriously? You didn't use all the pre-cautions mentioned on this forum? Disable auto-save, disable internet connection, back-up save files and stop every 2 hours and don't play Shadow Broker (it is laughable really that this is the way I am now playing this otherwise great game).

Bioware has delivered the patch to Sony. They are 'currently' reviewing it...

Unfortunately i was not awared of this bug untill yesterday evening....so i neither took into condieration possible precautions.... but do anyone has an idea on the realise date of this patch? And especially will i be able to re-use my old save files or in any case i do have to restart from the beguinning my game?

your corrupted save files can not be salvaged i'm afraid....you'll have to start a new game.

Hey, Orion, in response to your questions, and as I understand it, unless you backed up your data, there's not likely any way you can retrieve your lost data, but your'e not alone man,and for what it's worth, I feel bad for ya. Anyway, no one has any idea when a patch will be released, except for Sony. If I were gonna take a wild guess, though, I'd say next tuesday because that's, like, "update day" or something for Sony, though, of course, I don't know for sure. :P So, I hope this helps ya. Later, man. :)

Hello everyone. This is my 2nd post and my first time visiting the forums.

First i would like to express how much i loved Mass Effect 2. Being a PS3 owner i never had the chance to experience the first game and i must say this one totally blew me. I consider it a masterpiece of the RPG/Sci-Fi genre. I bought the game when it was released on the US (i live in Brazil) and i've been playing since.

I'm working and studying all day so i only get the chance to play on weekends if i'm not traveling. I had 50+ hours played in my carrer, it was my first playthrough (except i created 5 characters because they never looked like i made then on creating screen). My "corruption" happened right after the derelict reaper mission, when you meet the geth sniper. I was thinking to myself "Miranda and Tali were a bad choice for this mission" and right after i'm done destroying the reapers core, the game jumps into the cutscene and freezes while loading. Alright, no big deal, just reset my console, right? When i come back, i find out i'm not able to pick my carrer anymore, none of my saves. Every crew member was loyal to me, i had every upgrade bought (until that point in the game anyway). I had pretty much every constelation or whatever 100% explored and this happens...

Bioware, i loved Mass Effect 2, and i can't express how frustrated i am with this. As i said i have very little free time and i was really putting effort in this, **** my 1st playthrough and i was on veteran!

I'm incredibly disappointed. I know sometimes things like this happens but...seriously. I was stunned by ME2, telling all my friend how this is awesome game and now i'm not sure if i will play it again. Right now i just wan't to sell it and buy something else, because even if i start again it won't be the same thing, i will have to do literally everything again.

I just hope this serves as a big lesson, the save mechanics are wrong (i had 10+ saves) and it ddnt helped me.

I'm feel very sorry for everyone that experienced this, i was totally into this game and now i have zero will to play it.

I honestly think Bioware should "reward" PS3 players in some way, like lowering the price of DLCS or even getting one for free.

Sorry for the gramatical errors.

Rox Shepard, out

Hello everyone! I'm new. Sorry for my bad english but I'm italian and I don't speak english very good . The game crashed during a load after exploring the Collectors ship. Also my saves were corrupted after 22-23 hours of play :'( . I felt bad! Does anyone know when the patch will be released? I'm tired to wait, because this is really a great game! Thank for the info and good day all to you!

La patch è già in mano di Sony che la deve approvare. Però, sembra che la patch non sistemi i salvataggi corrotti. mi dispiace.

From my point of view only way Bioware has to apologise with all PS3 unlucky players is to fnd a way to fix corrupted saves! As i personally checked my saves and seem ok from PS3 games menu i dont think will be hard to find a solution for this issue!

BioWare has already fixed the save corruption bug. The only thing left is for Sony to approve and release the patch.

Grazie cmq !

What i mean is they should find a way to allow people using their old corrupted files, reparing them i guess, from the patch descritpion is not 100% clear if will be possible!

Yeah you're right. There's no guarantee that the corrupted saves will be usable again.

i risked finishing the game in 40hrs. i was waiting the patch but u know how the game can be addictive. well, i only got 1 freeze during Kasumi mission and no corruption file.

autosaving on and backup every session end. still playing shadow broker tho.

Save files are corrupted due to the console locking up in mid-write. That data is gone. You cannot and will not get it back, so don't count on it. Delete it, and move on, and stop playing the game if you aren't backing up every couple missions.

I know it's been said before, but it's almost beyond belief that a big company like EA/Bioware would design a 60 hour game to hold multiple saves within a single file. I cannot understand how such a poor design decision could have been overlooked. The game was being ported for a year or more, surely during that time a tester or developer should have spotted such an obvious "single point of failure" as it's called in the industry.

I know that sucks big time, but even as hard as it is, guys you have to understand that the patch can't recover corrupted files, in all my gamer life i have never heard or used a patch that can recover corrupted file saves, so, please accept that data is gone (i know its hard...)

I'm afraid you are right...only things to do is restart from the beguinning...what's really disappoint me is to restart planet exploration from the beguinning, loosing again hours on mining minerals from themPosted Image

I'm about 20 hours in the game, i really would hate to lose all that time, i know that losing 40 or 50 hrs. saves should be so dissapointing, but we have only 2 options:

1) Stop playing, and wait for the patch, that hopefully resolve this problem (i'll admit that i'm affraid that even if they release the patch, there will be people in this forums stating: the patch didn't solve anything....)

2)Play the game following the recomendations the developers gave us: make backups regularly, dont play long sessions, or not go to several different locations in one session, reset the system every 2 or 3 hours.

Also disable automatic save and log in EA servers could help, somebody mentioned something that i think could be useful, and its that when you save, don't do nothing more, wait for the "saving" message to fade, since the game its writing to your HDD, if you go trough a door, enter a new area, or enter combat, this could screw your save, since the system its writing data to your HDD and proccesing new events in the game at the same time, this can provoke a memory crash and screw your save.

I only had experienced 2 bugs, 1 with Zaeed getting stuck in mid air, and other with the rainbow effect, not a single freeze in all my game time, doing 1 or 2 misions per session, and playin with auto-save off, and logged off from EA servers.

The damn game it's so good i can't stop uplaying it, even if i have to do so in bursts... ;)

Of course there's a third option and its to return the game, and never play a Bioware game again, but i'll not lie to myself, because i know i'll play DA2 and ME3 this year.

BioWare said the patch is in Sony's hands... So we do know that. Unless Chris was lying. Which I doubt.

I personally think after checking the link that one person posted. I think the patches that were given to us from already known issues arent working too well with the Mass Effect 3 Engine PS3 users were given. From my standpoint hopefully Bioware knows that and I am sure Bioware is in shock that we are having a problem.

So I think the patch we are getting is going to allow all the patches that we have to work properly along with the stuff already mentioned on page 1.

Well when you start up the game it should detect the patch and force itself upon your harddrive before you even see Bioware in big and red appear. Thats how it worked on all my other PS3 games that got patches.
