mate read the bioware posts in this topic they have sent the patch to sony, its getting certified and in their hands. i appreciate your frustration im gagging to play it too but slagging off bioware about service when they have done what they said is really not a good way to inspire the devs to bother is it? why not get onto sony instead, or SHOCK HORROR!!!! wait for the patch and stop complaining? i mean offense but youre just getting bent out of shape for something you cant change, is it really worth it?masteratt wrote...

Bought the game nearly 2 weeks ago, it's been good at collecting dust and nothing else, pathetic.
I know they read this kind of stuff and laught but this is the last BioWare game I'm buying 1st hand.

It's been 2 weeks dude. Average time for Sony to check a patch (from my years of PS3 gaming) has been a week in absolute MAX. More often it's usually 4-5days.
But
you are right about status coming back from Sony so I think it's safe to assume the patch didn't pass Sony's QA and was sent back to Bioware who are obviously too busy/ ashamed to say "we messed up patch, we are patching the patch to send back to Sony now".
Also is it just me or is the devil emoticon at the end of the first post just taunting us... ¬_¬.....
I responded to your first bit with the bit I quoted and I know it's pointless to get bent out of shape over this, that's a great point mate, but yesterday I was a bit tired and came to check the status of the patch and alas, no news so I felt like venting
Also it's annoying the money I paid for this game is not returning anything to me at this moment as I can't play it (no way am I risking a corrupt save). I got lots of games to play, that's fine, I can wait, but the principle of the situation is getting a bit out of hand.
But yeah, *waits*

but sadly, didn't have the chance to get the patch to play the game. perhaps a third playthru sometime in the near future b4 me3. with mvc3 and other AA titles coming out very soon, it will be hard to go back to this game. i hope dragon age 2 won't be as bad as this. i love my bioware rpgs,

beyond stupid this isn't Sony's fault this is ****ing Bioware's fault
Correct. But Sony and Microsoft do their best to make these types of problems worse by holding up patches in a certification process which continually misses game-ending/data destroying bugs.
Mass Effect 2 has already gone through Sony's certification and the data corrupting bug(s) made it right on through...just as with Fallout New Vegas and plenty of other games.
I submit that this patch has been in Sony's hands since that original Friday which BioWare had claimed it'd been done. (if not very soon after) The only reason to hold a critical patch like this on the developer/publisher side is due to the fact that Sony and Microsoft charge them for hosting/pushing the data and developers/publishers often use that cost deterrent to lump in as many fixes as possible and/or couple the patch release with DLC to help offset costs.
The whole certification process is weighted entirely for Microsoft and Sony and entirely against publishers and developers. It's inept, inefficient, and a pathetically disgusting money-grab on the part of the console makers.

ive been playing for 30 hours with no problems at all, until i completed shadow broker.
Now if im lucky enough for the disc to even load: it either spits it back out, or says disc is corrupted or i get 80010514 error come up on my screen.
Every other game i have which is around 30 works fine, only other game ive had probs with was new vegas which crashed quite alot, which was annoyin but nothn like this.
Now if i get the game to actually play, sometimes it works, as in last night after hours of trying to get it to start , it eventually loads and i get 3 hours of uninnterupted play, no crashing, cuttin out or nothin.
But 95% of the time, when i can actually get the disc to load, when u are talking to someone u have no sound, or cuts out then cuts in then cuts off, the loading times are ridiculous, some time my screen is black for about a minute then the loading screen comes in for another minute, i rarely get music playing or back ground noises.
I cant believe a game can be put out with this many bugs it is disgraceful.
This Would be a amazing game , but i have given up on it and will be taking it back for my money as it aint worth the hassle it gives me.
A;lso why should games need patches, b4 the internet games had to be perfect becos otherwise they would have to be recalled, now anyone can put out a half finished game and just put out patches when they figure out wats wrong.
Its A FOOKIN DISGRACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can anyone else say if there havin this probs aswell, also if anyone knows if the patch, when it comes, will fix this, thx

I restarted my game every 3 hours and I haven't once encountered the game freezing/corrupted save bug.Still I was cautious so I restarted the game just before starting the Lair of the Shadow Broker(even though I had only been playing for 20 minutes) so Shadow Broker didn't crash on me.You guys shouldn't wait for the Patch just restart your system every 3 hours and the game won't crash on you.
P.S:Before restarting I saved in Liara's office.
LMFAO YEAH WOULD BE NICE TO RESTART EVRY 3 HOURS IF a: I COULD GET THE DISC TO ACTUALLY LOAD
b: IF I DO GET IT TO LOAD I CANT HEAR ANY OF THE SPEECH, WHICH DOESNT MAKE FOR A GOOD GAME.!!!

Oh and jus my opinion, this aint Sonys fault, even if they got the patch and wanna keep it for months to test, BECOS this game should have been fully tested before it went on sale.

Unfortunately, a lot of people don't visit the forums so they don't know this. They play like normal and bam, hit with corruption. That's why the patch is sorely needed. But it's out of our hands for now.
But anyone that says games had to be perfect before the internet and patches and stuff is just wrong. I grew up playing video games... in the old days they were as glitchy as hell. And those glitches were sometimes frustrating and sometimes hilarious, but there were no fixes. At least now they can fix things. Can being the operative word...

I went to one mission - don't worry, no spoilers, played there for around 1,5 hours, checking every corner, playing with the enemy with my biotic powers. I got couple of upgrades, lots of hacks, money and resources. I was almost at the end of the level and I accidentally let one small grunt to finish me off... Result? No auto save during the mission and here I am - at the beginning of it... 1,5 hours and effort went down the toilet....
I decided to put the game on the shelve and get back to it after the patch is done. You can do what you want trying to minimize the probability of the corrupted data to occur, but still - there will be this small f****ng bug in your head, drilling and speaking to you something like: "be careful... you and your save data can be next... no patch, no security..." So, the game's on the shelve now and I try to get back to Dead Space 2... It's not working though - here's another curse from Bioware: they create one of the greatest games I've ever played with the characters I love, addicting like hell - and then they won't let me play it with my head clear... I'm cursed... can't play other games... can't play this one.
Sony - have mercy and release this patch already!!
