On a Sunday? Surely you jest.

Is it just me, or can we only assume the patches will be released on a Tuesday? I thought that was Sony's update day.

I'm a first time ME player. Played a little bit of the original on my brother's Xbox (he moved away) and the combat wasn't really quite there. But still excited for ME2 and ME3. I'm buying the game new because of that digital comic.

Very disappointed to hear when I play Overlord it will be ugly as sin.

I have completed the game at 55 hours and I have had almost all the glitches and bugs except for the corrupted save. I just can't understand why BioWare released this game in such a sorry state.

This should be the definitive version yet it still have the same bugs the 360 version had and more. The majority of the bugs should have been caught during QA.

As for the people that have had corrupted saves, is it possible to copy the file to a USB stick?

After all the save file is *just* a *folder* that contains all the individual save files, so it should be salvageable.

No his saying, he wonders if he can fix the corrupt file by deleted the corrupted save in the character save file.

Man... I've played the hell out all of the other games I have just so I won't have to touch Mass Effect 2 until the patch comes out. Even the old launch games that have no trophies, like MGS4! I'd rather wait and have a complete game with less bugs than to risk having all of my game saves currupted and messing up my GT5 car collection! I'm also too lazy to back up my games over and over on some separate flash drive or hatever, and I'm not afraid to admit that! I still have mad love for Bioware and I've played just about every sci-fi game they've ever made since KOTOR and I will continue rooting for them! Peace!

And @celestialbeing: Dude! You watch Gundam 00? LOL No wonder I couldn't take that screen name! :innocent:

For me it isn´t. You don´t get the "copy to"-option at all it just says something like "can´t copy cause it´s corrupted". So much for USB-Stick.

It may be possible to salvage some data if you take out and connect the hdd to a PC/MAC - but personally I won´t try. Perhaps somebody´s got the nerve to acutally try it.

Man I feel bad for anyone holding back on playing this masterpiece because they're afraid of losing data. Even if you don't save and restart before every mission, if you back up your data then you'll at least have that to work off of if the worst happens. But I gotta admire your ability to self-deny.

I still think that BioWare should be able to fix the save files.
My non corrupted save file contains:
AUTO
CHAPTER
ICON0.PNG
PARAM.PFD
PARAM.SFO
and my saves.

Only BioWare knows what is stored in these files, but the names are somewhat logical if AUTO=autosave, CHAPTER=current mission (restart). The png is just the logo.
Since the parameter files is local to my character then it would make sense that one is my character data (sex, face, class etc) and the other could be the choices that was made during the comic.
If that's the case then those files should be locked and the only files that could be corrupt during a write command would be AUTO, CHAPTER and if you manually saved over an earlier save.

@NeuralNet: Thanks for the info!

Really hope they will be able to fix it with the patch, but I don´t get my hopes up.

A short message like "No, corrupt save-games will be lost forever there´s nothing we can do about it" from one of the devs would at least put my mind at ease. Bad intel ist better than none at all.

I've just got through the Lair Of The Shadow Broker DLC, with no crashes whatsoever. All that happened was my screen froze for around 3 seconds then ran for 1 frame and Froze again for 3 seconds, This happened just before the taxi chase. But i was able to continue with no problems.

But F*k all them bugs. They shouldnt over-shadow this AMAZING peice of DLC, i mean jus WOW! i also couldnt help but feel slightly emotional talking to Liara about the past missions theyve done and what there fighting for. I've absolutely loved this game so far, im approching the end now, ive just got to do the IFF mission and the final Collectors Mission and im going to be gutted that this amazing adventure is going to end........at least till later this year anyway!

anyone else had the LI picture bug?

instead of having Liara or Ashley on the picture

you get Kaidan which is weird because im a male shepard who chose Liara

i thought it was like a remembrance of him for dying at virmire

i just found out that the pic frame is suppose to show who you chose as LI on the comic

and the only way you don't get this bug is if you didn't choose any LI

Here is Sony's response to an e-mail I sent them on Friday regarding the patch:

"As much as we would like to address all of your questions, there are certain topics that are simply out of the scope of this department within Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA). You have reached the Consumer Services Department within SCEA, and we handle all general inquiries for our PlayStation® family of products, warranty and repair information, installation and troubleshooting, general corporate business inquiries, and third party software referrals, just to name a few.
Very specific questions on any particular product (e.g., manufacturing process), programming details of software or hardware, 'reasons or beliefs' on why a product did or did not include certain features, personal opinions, and personal contact information for developers, publishers, and other company employees, are some of the topics that cannot be addressed. Also, there are certain topics that we may not be able to address due to the fact that they are confidential and proprietary to SCEA.

GreyWarden36 (Dragon Age is so awesome, btw), that's a known bug. Fortunately it should be fixed when the patch comes out. Thats one of the bugs we know for sure was at least being addressed in the patch.

What's funny is I too thought it was to memorialize Kaidan, since I killed his ass off on Virmire in the comic. lol.

Pure lyrics - an almost epic way to say f**k-off.

@GreyWarden36: Also had that bug - at least until my save-game got corrupt.
... wait - that implies... I knew it: Beware of the infamous picture-frame-bug: Ultimately corrupting your save-states! Posted Image

A lot of people have been talking about a bug in project overlord, so I haven't started that yet. is it just a texture issue or is it causing the game to crash?

Just graphical issues while driving around in the hammerhead. It wont necessarily cause the game to crash but it could since just playing any part of the game could cause it to happen.

what's funny and somewhat annoying is that during the suicide mission when shepard looks at their LI picture they look at Kaidan's instead and their dudes!!!Posted Image

I would not hold my breath. The corruption means that some or all the file was not written out correctly, and for the most part is jibberish.  I have very little faith that Bioware would be able to fix the files since everyone's file would be unique and they would not be able to possibly handle all the possible permutations in a patch. So sorry to say there is virtually nill of a chance of Bioware being able to fix the corrupted save files.

Even companies that offer hard drive data rescue need the physical drive in order to attempt to recover the data of of it, and they never guarantee that it will be successful.

The digital comic is rubbish, it leaves out an entire planet and lets Shepard go insane for that one mission. As for the patch and the delay, why is there a delay? TDU2 came out last Thursday in Australia and it needed patching. It's patched now, no wait, no bull from developers telling us it's Sony not them. Patched, fixed (for the most part) over with. Why are we still waiting for ME2?

I don't think that anyone would argue that the corrupted file would go bye-bye.
The only question is what file is going bye-bye.

If my earlier assumptions are correct, then they could delete both the AUTO and CHAPTER files without much trouble if those are the problem.
This could also explain why it somewhat worked for those that turned off the autosave feature.
The file structure should be somewhat well defined for all the files including individual saves, so to actually find the corrupted file and delete it should be doable, this would obviously only help if you had multiple saves.

As for BioWare actually fixing it?
Your guess is as good as mine.
