Had 40+ hours invested on a character and after freezing about halfway though the Shadowbroker DLC campaign on a load screen, my save file was corrupted upon reload. I know there is a patch in the works but am wondering if, when the patch is released, it will repair my existing corrupted save file. Would hate to start over again and am hoping that the patch will repair the bad sectors.
Thanks.
Sorry to hear that, mate. I'm affraid the patch won't be able to help you and you can flush your 40+ hrs in the toilet.... I know, sounds bad, but as you can read in some earlier posts here, the patch won't fix something which is broken.
Sorry again, dude - I know it has to be a great loss for you. Me personaly can't imagine to loose my character and play again, pretending I don't know my actions consequences and this is the only proper way to get the finalized, exportable character IMO.

We are hopeful that it will but most probably it wont.. a corrupted file is a corrupted file from what i know (may it be PS3 data or any data there is) but yeah.. sorry to say but i think you have to start over.. unless you have a back up file and you could make it work.. i had my file corrupted when i didnt have a back up file so i had to start over again. now i have my back up files but i'm still not a 100% sure that if my file gets corrupted, that my back up file will work.. thus STILL the fear of playing and losing my game and having to start over again.. the PATCH will give everybody their well-earned peace of mind playing this wonderful game... so please please please patch gods... hear our prayers and send what it is we desire... send us the patch, o great patch gods.. (so who's got virgins to sacrifice? please do understand, i still have to quality check before the sacrifice) hahah

This makes me sad... just don't think I could bring myself to play this game again until this issue is resolved. Thanks for getting back to me, though.

i was in your position but i ended up giving up on the patch coming and started over with regular backing up.its something you shouldn't have to do having spent 40 odd quid on a game but its helped.restarting the game after approx 2hrs helps as i didn't have game crashing freezes as often.only had one i remember but i'm now about to start my 4th playthrough (5th if you count the one i lost) so something is working.Roobixcube wrote...

Played the game for 32hrs with no problems at all.
Then started shadow broker mission which i complete with no problems then when im in the shadow broker ship at end of level my probs started .
1stly the dialogue when talking was terrible if i heard it at all, which made the game unplayable.
No music at all and no background music either when i did play.
Loading screens would become really pixelated and screen would go black for upto 2 minutes b4 hand.
Then the disc wouldnt even load on my ps3, kept spittin it out or would say disc is corrupted or get the error message 8004...something ( u know the one)
i tried other games which worked fine on my ps3 which is only 3 months old.
after 2 days of tryin to get to work i gave up on.
This is even after doin a system reboot to factory settings, the game would load then but would carsh at 1% on install.
OK luckly i had a spare 320g ps3 slim that i was gonna swap over to anyways as my other slim is 160gb.
I copied my save game file to the new ps3 , instaled the game and since then i have had no problems apart from one freeze yesterday (which i dont mind), im at 45 hrs, i have turned of internet and autosave, just incase , and have played for the most about 5 hrs b4 rebooting.
Touch wood i hope i dont have no more probs, but i will not be playin shadow broker again.
I should nopt have to change my ps3 just to play this game.
Cant be a prob with my ps3 as i have had no other probs with any other games apart from new vegas
SORT IT OUT BIOWARE.
i hope this patch sorts this out.
wat they say there gonna fix , doesnt seem to include the talking sync issues which i think is the main issue apart from corrupt data, i reckon maybe has sumthing to do with the dlc as it seems the shadow broker was the catalyst.
oh and b4 sum sad ass starts slaggin off my spelling and how i written this post, i couldnt give a **** its a god damn post on a forum, and have better things to do (like play mass effect) than check my spelling.

On your playthrough's, was that including the Shadow Broker DLC? From what I've been reading, that's been one of the common places players have encountered the corrupted file issues. I'm trying to decide whether or not to avoid that section altogether.
Thanks.

@Roobixcube - the only upside to starting over is you get to correct whatever you feel you did wrong the first time. hehehe plus you already know what happened so it's gona be faster than the first time and you dont get to be as nervous as well. hehe which means you get to have more fun this time around XP
Was doing a Paragon character before I lost it - this time around, I feel it's only fitting to kill everyone I meet... starting with the game salesman on the Citadel.
