Will this patch fix the out-of-sync audio? While not a major problem, it can get quite annoying.

Had 40+ hours invested on a character and after freezing about halfway though the Shadowbroker DLC campaign on a load screen, my save file was corrupted upon reload.  I know there is a patch in the works but am wondering if, when the patch is released, it will repair my existing corrupted save file.  Would hate to start over again and am hoping that the patch will repair the bad sectors.

Thanks.

i was in your position but i ended up giving up on the patch coming and started over with regular backing up.its something you shouldn't have to do having spent 40 odd quid on a game but its helped.restarting the game after approx 2hrs helps as i didn't have game crashing freezes as often.only had one i remember but i'm now about to start my 4th playthrough (5th if you count the one i lost) so something is working.

On your playthrough's, was that including the Shadow Broker DLC?  From what I've been reading, that's been one of the common places players have encountered the corrupted file issues.  I'm trying to decide whether or not to avoid that section altogether.

Thanks.

i've played shadow broker on all playthroughs and only had one crash (that scared the hell out of me).didn't result in any data loss though.lucky i guess.

Best thing to do if you're gonna play is try to notice anything weird. If the music cuts out, or if the framerate drops really bad, if there's any choppiness... DON'T JUST KEEP PLAYING. Save, quit and restart. Most of the problems should resolve themselves. The more you play past these problems, the higher the chance it'll start locking up on you.

...Heh. I've been lurking in this thread for a while.

...I have to confess I'm honestly disappointed by the way Bioware's handled all this. Not so much the fact that their product was bugged, or even that this bug has taken so long to fix, which appears to be mostly Sony's "fault." Nah, the concept that this fix could take weeks doesn't particularly bother me.

...It's the way Bioware's reps here have treated their frustrated consumers that aggravates me. I spent $60 for a product that I haven't been able to use for the past month, out of fear that the corruption bug would erase all my progress and nullify the investment of my time. Under these circumstances, folks representing the company should be empathetic. Ideally Bioware should be nagging Sony constantly to approve the update ASAP -- the game's essentially unplayabl e until they do -- and they should be updating us far more frequently and in a a reticent spirit.

...Sounds like Bioware needs to learn a bit about public relations, really. A lot of the frustrations of people here would have been alleviated tremendously if we just got more updates more consistently -- progress reports when the patch was being worked on, reports of interactions with Sony after the patch was sent to them, even just a single customer rep assigned to answer inquiries or simply respond with "I'm sorry, we goofed this one" when people come here to gripe.

You people keep saying we should back-up our save games, but i don't know how! I can copy my profile file to a USB stick, but it won't let me copy the save file.

Btw, i think it's not very clever to store all your save games inside a single file... Its much more prone to corruption, IMHO.

^ this - altho honestly i dont wana jump on bioware's balls (as i dont want to jump on anyone's balls) since i have a lot of respect for this company for bringing out alot of solid games the past years, i have to agree with Kiron. A Little Something from time to time would really go a looooong way. (Even if you lie to us and as long as we dont know that you lied about it hehehe little white lies, right?) If i'm not mistaken, i prolly just saw maybe 3 or 4 responses from Chris and prolly 2 or 3 from this other guy out of the 1000+ posts in this thread. That's just me... i cant even remember anymore if i read all the posts here or all the pages (i may have missed some and i'm only human) but the lack of responses from credible or responsible parties left me that impression. And i have been in this thread, cracking up some jokes or writing random stuff just to alleviate all the tension.. i mean, i'm not supposed to or anything, but i jsut hate it when everybody just jumps on their balls (and it's funny, i'm the one being empathetic) but yeah....... uhm...... hmmmm...... i completely forgot what my point was.......

.....so yeah, i agree! XP hahahahaha Image IPB

You got it backwards. The profile is the one that's copy-protected. The one you're able to copy are your savegames.

Don't worry about the profile. It only contains settings and I think trophies.

My PS3 broke... It doesn't any kind of discs anymore. What a bummer. So now not only do I have to wait for this patch for ME2, but now I gotta wait for Sony to repair my PS3!!! I won't be able play anything for awhile... It could have been worse I suppose. The patch could have been available the same moment my PS3 decides to not read discs anymore. But still, this sucks to the maxz!!!

FYI: Repaired PS3s cost a lot and don't last long so it's mostly wiser to just buy a new model. As if the repaired one gets broke again (high probability) and you want to repair it again, it adds up to more than a new PS3.
Anyway do what you want of course, just a tip.

Checking this thread, no news, yay.

I agree with you, masteratt. I will definitely purchase a new PS3 because I don't want to take any chances on the one that I have right now breaking down on me again. I'd rather worry about ME3 having bugs than to worry about my PS3 not functioning correctly!

But yeah, no patch news...

I've only experienced freezing/choppy frame rates once, and that was during the Reaper IFF mission...other than that...I've encountered the music cutting out a lot...Bioware should seriously get the patch out faster...other than those problems...it's an awesome game.

Maybe they'll release it around the time that Mass Effect 3 comes out to build up hype for part 3 and give us PS3 users a reason to revisit ME2 again (or for the first time for some).

Just completed my second full playthrough, just have DLC and side missions left. I think i will go to Dragon Age Origins, I still need to complete a second Grey Wardan. I deleted my first save thinking there wasnt going to be a sequel only to find out the next day in my gameinformer that they are making a second and the first game save does matter. I cried lol. But point is ill be a Grey Warden until i complete all the DLC and the game. Hopefully by the time i return to ME2 the patch is out.

But on second note dont be afraid to play the game, only play for a few hours. Most of the people that experience the problems play it for endless hours from what i hear.

I understand the point of taking their time with releasing the patch, you never want it to create more issues than it fixes... but this is kind of ridiculous. I want to play the game, but fear of encountering these issues is holding me back.

Can Bioware at least let us know where we are in the scheme of things? Have they had to go back to the drawing board or are we closing in on the release date?

This patch does seem to be taking a really long time, if it weren't for DC universe online my patients would have run out by now. I guess we can all take solace in the fact that they aren't rushing to get the patch out right? Some updates would be nice thought instead of wondering.

This is utterly ridiculious now. I managed 3 playthroughs without the corruption (though I came close a few times) but come on, sony or bioware whoever is to blame please think of your customers here!

It's a joke ? Two major glitches (corrupted saves and NG+) and still no patch one month later ?????
After-sales service = ZERO

I hate the Sony

I stopped playing the Mass effect 2 alone when it launches the patch of updating I will play again.

I warned already in order that my friends did not buy the Mass effect 2 only when it launches the patch

****!!!! I want that they release this patch up to end of this month

The end of this month?!? I don't want to wait another two weeks for a game that I've bought almost one month ago also paid 60€ ( i'm italian ). Honestly I'm tired to wait ! <_<
