I hope that the patch will be out soon, all though I am done with my first playthrough without major problems. It gave my quite a scare when it froze for some seconds during a load screen!

Think I'll just backup that one and start again - this game is like crack!

Best game ever!!

Yeah, I'm on ME3 at the moment.

I can ask someone who worked on the ME2 PS3 patch to post, but I can't guarantee that it'll happen.
in general posting in the forums isn't part of our job, and a lot of folks try to avoid it for various reasons.

Well thanks for whatever effort you can pull in getting the ME2 PS3 patch team member to post here. Its nice to know what to fully expect once the patch is out.
For me personally I wont know when the patch is out until i get done with DAO completely, DLC and expansion too.

You guys do make the most replayable games to date.

On side note Jack, I hope to hear you break the ice on this ME3 Silence at E3. I will be watching that on G4 and i hope you guys show us some ME3 than, i dont expect anything like specifics about ME3 to be released until than either.

Just make sure you read the parts for the work around:

1) Make sure you back up your save file somewhere
2) Make sure you back up and restart your game/ps3 every few missions/hours
3) Not proven but keep in mind the auto log in to EA / autosave / playing offline options
4) If you encounter a bug, restart your game/system - dont play through the bug (that's just asking for trouble)
5) Pray if you believe in that
6) Make virgin sacrifices (i'L send you my address later >_<)

and most specially 7) Enjoy one freaking epic game! Image IPB

I had to sign up to make this statement, hopefully it'll be worth it.

I've been following this forum for about 2 weeks now with ZERO mention of this. I downloaded the PSN version of the ME2 and haven't had any issues. Is this memory fragmentation issue to both disk based and PSN versions of ME2?

^ This. Except I'd say you don't need to reset your system. Just the restarting the game should be enough. But when you do turn off your system, that's a perfect opportunity to back up your save to another account or a usb stick.

mate read the bioware posts in this topic they have sent the patch to sony, its getting certified and in their hands. i appreciate your frustration im gagging to play it too but slagging off bioware about service when they have done what they said is really not a good way to inspire the devs to bother is it? why not get onto sony instead, or SHOCK HORROR!!!! wait for the patch and stop complaining? i mean offense but youre just getting bent out of shape for something you cant change, is it really worth it?

masteratt wrote...

It's been 2 weeks dude. Average time for Sony to check a patch (from my years of PS3 gaming) has been a week in absolute MAX. More often it's usually 4-5days.

But
you are right about status coming back from Sony so I think it's safe to assume the patch didn't pass Sony's QA and was sent back to Bioware who are obviously too busy/ ashamed to say "we messed up patch, we are patching the patch to send back to Sony now".

Also is it just me or is the devil emoticon at the end of the first post just taunting us... ¬_¬.....

I responded to your first bit with the bit I quoted and I know it's pointless to get bent out of shape over this, that's a great point mate, but yesterday I was a bit tired and came to check the status of the patch and alas, no news so I felt like venting :)
Also it's annoying the money I paid for this game is not returning anything to me at this moment as I can't play it (no way am I risking a corrupt save). I got lots of games to play, that's fine, I can wait, but the principle of the situation is getting a bit out of hand.

But yeah, *waits*

you do have a point there mate ive been online daily hoping the patch will be out n getting a bit frustrated,on the other hand i pity your enemies when u get onto the game, try turning that pent upfrustration into enthusiasm for when the patch is out. combat in mass effect is really really exhilarating!its anarse that the patch is taking so long and i agree with your point of policy but maybe this patch will sort out the game so it can be experienced as it deserves, dont know if you played it on pc or eggs box,but its pretty damn special. it deserves to be played without these kinks.... anyway, everyone needs tovent and i responded cos i felt your complaint was pretty on the money and reasonable, just aimed at the wrong people. good things is that the patch is on the way and may be an even more rewarding experience for the wait. nuff respect though mate, the forum could do with more level headed people like you.

The development team assigned to the Dragon Age franchise certainly doesn't have a phobia about posting on the forums. I commend them for their bravery, and the fact that their postings are often informative. Other development teams at Bioware should take their cues from the DA team, in terms of public relations. Hasn't bitten the DA team in the buttocks yet, and I'm sure that'd hold true for the other dev teams.

That said, human resources ought to tweak the guidelines a bit, making it "officially" safe for employees to post on publicly accessible forums, so long as it's strictly business related. For example, providing customers with updates on the status of game patches, even if it's nothing more than "It's still with Sony."

I bought the PSN version. I am currently on my fourth playthough and I have not encountered the save bug at all. Only a few freezes (including the Shepard's Cabin crash mentioned in the patch notes), occasional geometry glitches and the rainbow bug, but definitely no save corruption. No problems with the DLC either. This is interesting because I have left the game paused for many hours (don't ask why) and played for decent-sized stretches without resetting my system. From what I've heard, everyone who has encountered the save bug has the disk version.

Has anyone who encountered the save bug have the PSN version? Also, what is your PS3 model? I have a 250GB PS3 Slim.

Different people, different experience dude.
After reading this forum, I  tried to give the game another shot after more than 1 week of avoiding it.
And guess what? In just less than 10 minutes, the game froze again and I was forced to use the PS3 power button to quit the game.
Settings are set as recommended by some people here.
So I don't see how I am getting the great "experience"  everyone is talking about if I have to stop at such a wrong timing every few minutes. <_<

I totally regret buying this game early. It is almost the same as me not buying the game at all since it is  completely unplayable for me.
I will NEVER ever buy another Bioware game until the complete edition is out just like Dragon Age where my only problem was the low FPS.
Bioware releases great games. But these games also come with some sort of 'experience ruining' bug like what I heard when Dragon Age Origins just released.

Really looking forward to Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3. But for now,YouTube will suffice till the Complete Edition comes out a year later with all the DLCS and at a much cheaper price.

I'll leave the Beta testing to the first batch of buyers. Good luck paying Bioware to Beta test! :P

The number of people who have even encountered this bug is a VERY VOCAL but also very small minority.

That's like saying "You'll regret going for a walk in the rain, you're gonna get struck by lightning."

I'm on my third playthrough and have never had the game freeze.
