Killzone 3 beta (2 patches)
Test Drive Unlimited (1 patch)
Little Big Planet 2 (1 patch)

The fact is that all of the above were released at the same time or later than ME2 and all have received at least 1 live patch.

....so, if it's Sony's fault, how come those games got patched and we're still waiting on the ME2 patch?

Fragmentation issues are much more complicated.Didn't Castlevania had the same save corrupt glitch on the ps3?How long did it's patch took to come out?

Hi. I just recieved my copy of Mass Effect 2 today and i'm so ****ing excited Image IPBabout playing it, but i don't want to because i'm worried about the save game corruption bugImage IPB. Yes, Castlevania did have the same corrupt save bug, the game was released on Oct 5th in North America and the patch for that came on the 28th-29th Oct. So comparing with that, hopefully we will have the patch released before ME2 has been out a month. Otherwise i'm gonna get seriously pissed and just play this amazing game anyway. And then kill myself when my data gets corrupted.

ME2 has a lot more content. thoughSo i assume testing it to pass authentication and finaly release it will probably take a bit more time

The experience I had so far is a lot of little game shocks/freezes but non that occur while saving!?

Does the corruption occur when saving and freezing coincide?? or doesn't the corruption have anything to do with the save process???

could anyone elaborate me on this because I'm getting kind of scared to play don't want to restart 2 hour missions :S I do backup after every session but still....

Makes me wonder if the save corruption is true seeing hardly anyone has experienced it

hardly.

i personally experienced it. and so did a bunch of people. read the whole thread, there's 1100+ entries now.

and nope.. mine didnt occur while saving. it just plain happened while i was playing ... freeze then my ps3 auto shut off then when i restarted the game, BOOM... no options for resume or load game. Restarted my ps3 as i was thinking it might just be a glitch.. still only new game and extras are the options.. no resume or load game. exited game and checked my save file and there it is... a gray and white icon saying corrupted data. That's when i went online and googled "PS3 ME 2 corrupted save files" and that's where i saw this bioware thread.

mine was 20hours in.. others i know were 30 - 40 hours in.

Image IPB

cool story bro! >_<

I think there are certian moments in the game that are more vulnerable to the corrupted save than others.

When I first received the game I'd play four-five hours with only the glitch where using your power while moving in/out of cover puts you on a plane above the ground, sometimes very above the ground. I played a seven hour session even on the first Sunday I had it without any problems.

Then I went to explore the direlect Collector ship. Finished the mission, was maybe two and a half hours on the session, the mission summary screen came up, and once I closed that screen, it went to the load screen and after a couple minutes froze on the load screen.

It really does come out of nowhere, everything's running fine and then... splat. I suspect that the majority of save corruptions are probably coming at certian points in the game where whatever flaw in the game, it's engine, or it's communication with the console is most taxed. If we surveyed everyone, I suspect that there are maybe five or six spots in the game where 80% of people encountered their corrupted save experience.

Orion- I recomend backing up every couple of missions. I did that and it worked out safe. After I finish my latest playthrough of Dragon Age Origins, I mean to do a test ME2 playthrough where I only exit to the main menu at specific points in the game where I suspect there is a greater possibility of corrupted saves occuring and see what happens.

For what it's worth, none but maybe two of the missions late in the game are that hard to beat on normal difficulty should you lose the save... but do make sure you backup off the hard drive until the patch comes out.

Thanatos144, seriously? Would all of us make that up?

I lost my save file too, just like many other people in here.

But then, after starting over, using backups, etc, I've managed to finish the game last week. I'll only consider playing it again in a few months, when everything is fixed.

I don't know. Is it? Go start the game up and tell us if there's a patch.

i know someone clarified this to me already but the patch we'r waiting for is gona be a PS3 update right? Like when you start your game, ht system will say you need to update to a newer version to play the game?

i always have this idea that it's gona be a PSN download that you have to install..

The corrupted save file is indeed true. It happened to me earlier this afternoon. Since then, I've been stopping play each hour to transfer my save file from my PS3 to PSP. It's annoying, but it's a temporary fix until Bioware hands out the patch.

I hope it comes sooner rather than later.

Right... Bioware is going to invest resources in putting a patch together for an issue which doesn't exist. Uh huh...Image IPB

And even if only one person experienced it, it would not make it less "true."

I experienced the save corruption with my first game and was about 20 - 25 hours into it. I was able to finish a subsequent game with no issues and even started a third which I've stopped at 35 hours because I'm really liking my latest Shepard and losing her game isn't worth it anymore. (Plus, I just got a computer and have acquired ME1 & ME2, so I'm not really missing out, just not playing it on the PS3).

its not really that bad, im on insane playthrough now and i dont need to save the save game to a USB

as long we're not connected online or to EA, or we don't turn on autosave, it should be cool

my first corrupted crash happen on loading screen when autosave is on
after that my crash usually happen during gameplay or loading screen but because the autosave is off, there's no corrupted data. because the console isnt reset while we save the game

its hard to play insane difficulty with autosave off though, forgot to save and you restart the whole mission. still its better than restaring from scratch

I have yet to have my saves corrupted so I can not say if it is a real problem or just some fanboys trying to make sony look bad. I will say the freezing and sound issues are really bad and never should have left QA like that. I am thinking EA pushed bioware to hard to release this to soon and I wonder how buggy 3 is gonna be if they cant even make a simple port?

It happened to me today.

I had my game freeze once before, but my save file was all right.

Not this time, though. D:

It's awful, but I'm glad it was not my main file.

But I won't play again until the patch is out, just to make sure.

Just because it freezes in the same spot doesn't mean your disc is defective. My game freezes in the same spot, but on my first playthrough, it worked fine.

Hi
i'm agree with you, in what spot your game freezes? Do you find a way to fix it, because to me only the patch could resolve it.......i mean i hope

It freezes during the Shadow Broker mission. So far, I haven't gotten it to work. I'm hoping the patch will resolve this issue.
