I found out how to cure the freezes. When you come to a hack that freezes, when you restart go to the display settings and but it in 480p only then put in 4:3 aspect ratio.

Can you please tell me if you can play the entire game in 480p and without any freeze, I've heard before that decreasing the resolution to 720p coud solve the problem too :pinched:

Well I suppose you could do that is you wanted to. But I only do it when I get to a part that freezes everytime. It's too good looking of a game to play in 480P and 4:3 acpect ratio all the time I couldn't get it to work in 720P. Once I even removed the hdml cable and clicked the hack button and then plugged in right back in, but that only worked once.

I already test about 3 hack minigames in a row and works fine using 480p res. Now I need to get used to playing at least in this parts with this resolution. Next week I will try to save before hack, change resolution, hack and change resolution again to check if this way the freeze stops on the game. This is a workaround but not a solution, so Bioware please release patch v.1.02 :crying:

Ok.
I bought this game, for the PS3, soon as I started playing it I realised there were some fishy things about it. Came on here and found out there was something about a patch being needed, so I stopped playing.
Having played it, 50% on the 360 before my machine died (my reasons for shifting to PS3) I could see the errors pretty quick. (The photo in the bedroom.)

Now, having just installed the patch, after all this time, I tried to load the game up. Guess what? It doesn't even load past the Bioware vid at the start.

So now, a game that cost me 50 pounds, that has been unplayable for the best part of nearly 2 months is still, unplayable.

How hard is it for a company to release a game without errors? The 360 version from what I remember had none!

It's nothing short of a disgrace. I'll not be spending another penny on Bioware releases.

Some advice as well guys & girls, see next time, instead of (even if it is true) using the ME3 engine, how about you just give us the game you actually made in the first place that was fine.

Anyone want a copy of ME2 for the PS3.
A kick in the stones and it's yours for free.

So, I didn't hear about this problem, but alas I know about it now as 35 hours of play are now lost. Yes I have a classic 60 gb model, and my freeze occurred after escaping the collectors ship. Also I was playing on Insanity difficulty mode. I did play a relatively long time. I did Garrus' loyalty quest and the collectors ship.

I made it about this far on the xbox when my system got the red ring and scratched up the disc somehow, making sure I couldn't play it again, so I waited for the PS3 version and now this. Come on guys, I really want to play this!!!! Please fix this. Make it possible!.

That is exactly where my save corrupted, I did garrus' loyalty mission, finished the collectors (ghost) ship mission and it froze.. now looking at 'corrupt data'. What is the point of having multisaves if a gamebreaking bug corrupts them all. I'm still furious that you can release a game with these bugs in, claim to have solved them in a patch which isn't true.

This is on a 160gb slim, not a fat ps3.

Gutted is putting it mildly

Why is this taking so long? The first patch came out over a month ago and many gamers, including myself, are still unable to enjoy the game. What gives? Why no update?

Because bioware dont really care they are prolly more interested in doing Mass Effect 3 right now, they dont care too much about a game that is over a year old..since ive installed the patch mine skips all over the show in places it never did before, i wont be getting ME 3 on PS3. PC seems to be the platform for this game.

So you think its easy for them to release a game with no errors at all so if you think its sooooo easy to do that why don't you try making a game with no errors and see how you do. I mean I am no trying to be a jerk or anything but you do need to remeber that they are human and humans make mistakes we all do yourself included. They also did release a patch and I have heard they might be working on another one so that shows right there that they are trying to fix these issuses and while they are doing this they are also working on Mass Effect 3. Yet they still shouldn't have released a game that has these glitches> I have the PSn version and the only thing is the New game+ glitch and the long loading times while on the Normandy.

Hey Brian.
Play-testers are a well used thing, I wonder how much they used them. Tell me, how come Mass Effect and the Sequel on the 360 were practically fault free? Mmmmm?
They threw this game together too quick and never gave it the attention it deserved, but hey, gotta grab those dollars!
For what it's worth I'm just bitter, it's an amazing game, probably my favourite ever. Just gonna hurry up and fix it! Please!

When Mass Effect 2 was released I heard about the freezing issues and possible save game corrupts. Therefore I didn't purchase the game until a patch was released.

When the patch was released, I bought the game just to realise that savegames still get corrupted...

Obviously, the patch didn't fix anything and was purely designed to make fools like me buy the game.

I feel ripped off now (and so very stupid)...

I figured i'd post my details here too.

I have a BC 80gig Fat PS3.

I'm at the part of the Tali rescue mission where you exit the small indoor area (dead geth, safe, tali journal). Right when you exit the door you start to fight the waves of geth recon drones and a hunter.

These issues happen within minutes of playing.

NG+ Insanity mode - i did have the NG+ equipment issue, but i just kept playing because it didn't really impact the game for me, i just went and bought the armor, etc again. However i did notice that as long i kept whatever i had equipped there was no need to purchase, but once switched in the cabin they would disappear.

OK now pre-patch, i never experienced any freezing until i was almost done pushing my way through this area. The game would completely freeze and i would have to reset the system.

After the patch:

1st test i experienced a massive frame rate drop and loss of audio with the first wave of recon drones.

2nd test i experienced the same frame rate drop but no loss in audio. In both situations i could use the ps button to exit the game with no issues. These frame rate issues are bad, basically making the game unplayable. (lots of choppyness, lag-type, etc)

Hopefully this info helps, hopefully there's another patch soon for us to test, because i haven't touched this game in 2 months. Can't buy DLC with these issues : (

When can a patch be made for the New Game + mode in Mass Effect 2 for PS3? Nobody on these forums has been able to fully carry over what they were supposed from their previous game.  The PlayStation 3 version doesn't allow you to carry over anything, besides bonus resources and credits. Your armor stays the same from your final actions in your previous game, but once you go to your locker to change it, it disappears. The only other occasional problems I have seen are lip syncing and audio-dropouts.

I met a new glitch at the end of the mission's loyalty Mordin. At the end of the final dialogue appeared choice to stay or go, I stayed, cracked safe, but could not get away - a button that show up did not work, Shepard only moss hand. We had the whole dialogue to begin anew. After the first dialogue with Liara, her secretary hangs in the air in the Liara's office. Such errors are very annoying.

I hate BioWare quality testers! PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 needs more end more patches! I am disappointed at BioWare. In 2011, released a lot of good games that I want to buy, and if this game will not be fixed, Mass Effect 3 of them can not be there.

Bioware, are you hiring by any chance? I would love to work in the PS3 QA team. It really seems like the best job ever. I wouldn't have any responsibilities, I could probably sit at home and do whatever, or would I have to do that in the office?

Very annoying glitches of this kind:

Met some obstacle, Shepard just take off the top. This error I have seen so many times. Each time in different locations.
