Hmm, I lost my save on Insanity about an hour ago after surpassing horizon. You can imagine this was disheartening. Hope the patch works as advertised.

anything we can do to fix our corrupted saves?

I didn't try this because i deleted my corrupted files (didn't want them to corrupt my whole hard drive). But heres the post about it. social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/292/index/5852548

LOL yes I know that.  I don't expect to get my save back, the amount of effort it would take would be equivilent to beating insanity about 100 times.  Just hoping for the preventative aspect.

Also bioware, can a future patch allow the game to use multiple save slots, instead of one global one?  That way, on the off chance a hardware problem or power outtage causes save corription,n we can have backups naturally existing on our PS3 hard drive, and not need to worry about possible issues with USB backup?  I lost progress that'll be tough to get back once, don't want it to happen again and doing something like this will drastically help.

Edit - Also, make it so that difficulty is locked in like it is on 360 and PC.  I understand the advantages to the way it is now, but the problem is that if the Insanity trophy bugs, like someone on this forum reported it doing, then there's no way to prove you actually earned it.

Hi Chris, as you can see here there are a lot of fans of this game myself included who would like just a few words of update on the latest with this patch just so we know where we are currently with it. People who love this game are trying to start over and trying to do becareful with thier save games.

So if you could spare a few words for the people here i am sure they would appriciate it comming from yourself.

Thanks...

First of all, tank you very much for the swift work with the patch, now if only your commitment to quality and will to satisfy your customers could wear off onto some other companies... (ahem)Damn you Bethesda, I still can't play Fallout New Vegas properly on console(/ahem)...

Although you've made it clear to me that I can expect the issues i'm experiencing to be fixed with the upcoming patch, I'll still go ahead and explain the problem i've been having. While aboard the Normandy and within the cpt's quarters, my game will freeze. This seems to be directly related (at least in my case) to the armor management menu, as the game will not freeze by simply being within the quarters or walking about within them.

The Armor menu  will scroll through all sets of complete armor just fine, however, when I try to piece different combinations together, everything suddenly freezes on me and i'm forced to manually power off my console.

Lastly, I don't know if this is relevant or not, but i own the downloadable PS Store version of the game and not the hard copy.

Thanks again for dealing with these issues as quickly as you did...now if only sony could come through and approve the patch...

At this point the patch is completely done, it was completed yesterday, at least I assume as much from what I've read thus far. So How long we'll need to wait is no longer in Bioware's hands. Unless I haven't read right, the patch is waiting on Sony's approval and will afterwards go live

We just need to be a bit more patient, the patch is on it's way. :)

Not touching the game till the patch releases. I really feel bad for my brother though, Mass Effect 2 was one of those games we'd talk about during our spare times since my schedule and his are so hectic. He was around the level Acquire IFF or something and it just froze. I hope he starts again, but this issue really killed Mass Effect for him.

(ahem)Damn you Gearbox, for butchering Duke Nukem Forever, and ignoring/telling fans to go **** themselves when they complain about the Call of duty mechanics you are tainting it with(/ahem)...

Fixed

Yeah, I agree, it amazes me people come here to curse out EA/Bioware considering how much better they are than other companies.  Yeah, they're not 100% perfect, but as long as they stay 90-99% perfect, I'll be happy.

Heh, I hear you. I run on a pretty tight schedule during the week myself, hardly any time for gaming and when there is, I'm usually without a shred of concentration left in me (I blame college), so most of my gaming gets done during the week-ends. Here's hoping we don't have to go through the whole week before being able to sit back and play properly.

I'm also waiting for the patch, but I've got a question: since I heard of the problem, I've been doing regular back-ups on the save file that is not protected. I was wondering, if by any chance my save file becomes corrupted, copying my back-up file from my pen drive to the ps3 will solve the issue? Or the protected file may also become corrupted and I will lose everything anyway?

Thanks!

Bought ME2 last Tuesday when it launched and played a solid 2-3 hours straight nearly every night. Unbeknownst to me the fact that I should be taking breaks to avoid a crash.. Or possibly get some sleep. Anyway, my data became corrupted on Wednesday night. I searched google for a solution and eventually wound up on this forum. Got excited when I saw there was a fix coming, but it was only short lived when I read the community director posted there probably would be no way to fix corrupted files. Long story short, I didn't delete my files and decided to wait for the patch incase there was a remote shot it fixed anything. To my surprise I turned on the game today for the first time since I ran into this problem a few days ago to see if the patch was out and my game worked. No corrupted files message or blinking screen. Granted, for whatever reason I'm about 30 minutes to an hour behind where I was when the game crashed, but I'm stoked my game works. I didnt download any kind of patch or try any of the solutions out there, which I assume dont work anyway, I think I just got lucky as I dont see anyone else posting about this. Good thing too because I dont think I could have done this whole game over. I probably would have wound up trading it in. This happen to anyone else?

False, Chris said they -expected- to be done with quality testing by yesterday. And even after they are done with that, they still have to send it to Sony for distribution. I'm still sticking with my guess that it'll be out Monday.

My sorry.
But should have some comment about when send to sony.
Or if the test is okay.

Agreed, though if they had to focus on the patch, or updating us, I'd prefer they focus on the former.

I doubt the patch will drop Monday. Probably because it's not ready and because, as I understand it, Sony only releases game patches and store updates once or twice a week at most (Tuesdays for sure on the store updates).

No mention of fixing the overlord mission with the horrid ps1 pixel textures (on a next gen console i might add) and bushes popping up and allso going through the scenery!
come on bioware theres no excuse for this at all, please go back take a look at the level (its shoddy and looks awfull) and fix this, as this was an amazing game up till this point.
a lot of other people have reported this so im not on my own!
i allso checked the 360 version of overlord (the jungle stage) and these issues are not present)

^ I think it's more important to fix the pressing matter of corrupted saves first. I can understand your anger but I believe that the corrupting save issue is the priority at the moment. Once the patch has been released that fixes the issues that Chris said it would, then Bioware should try and resolve the issue you mentioned.

Personally I'm just glad that Bioware responded so promptly to the issue. Many thanks!
