The Mako in Mass Effect 3?

I miss the Mako, but if BioWare were to give us a vehicle that had the maneuverability of the Hammerhead and armour and guns of the Mako (+ the ability to save and get out and walk around!), I'd be more than happy.

I want the Mako back (improved of course), I want a wheeled vehicle with actual armour, not some weak hovercraft.

I couldn't stand the Mako in ME1. I felt like it controlled poorly and ended up going all over the place. Trying to figure out how to get to some ?'s at the top of mountains was a nightmare.



I wouldn't mind Mako's return in ME3 if they toned down how often we had to drive it. Maybe just a guest appearance here and there. I don't want to spend hours driving around lifeless worlds again.



Mako's appearance in the main storylines was fine though; those areas were more designed to be interesting with fighting/terrain conducive to teh Mako.

the Mako was ME1. Landing on uncharted planets, exploring the galaxy, that's what ME1 was about for me, not stoping Saren.

I haven't played Overlord, but the free Hammerhead missions had nothing to do with planetary exploration, there was no freedom, it was more like a bad plataforming minigame.

I'd like to see both the Mako and the inhospitable worlds back for ME3.

I want a reaperified Mako on ME3 so I may have the pleasure of blowing it up with my own hands.



But then again, it may just trip turn on it's back, and explode before I have the chance to do anything.

The mako definitely wasn't ME1 for me. It was just a necessary evil that made me sigh most of the time I went to do a side mission lol. I got so sick of it I gave up on the gathering quests to avoid having to be in the Mako any longer.

Why not bring back the Mako plus improve the Hammerhead with sheilds and better armour, then create a few different maps to explore, each suited to the different vehicles. I think that would keep everyone happy and anyone that doesn't like one specific vehicle can just not do the missions. Would solve the issue no?

Make it more like the Hammerhead,because the mako was boring as hell in Mass effect 1.



Add a speed boost

Add a higher gravity jump

Make it so you can turn faster.



Add more detail to the level.

Add evidence of ancients ruin.



Levels should be different

For example a jungle,ruins of a city,swamp,desert with ruins.

Really just acutual detail

God no. I hate the Mako with the fire of a thousand suns. The Hammerhead isn't perfect, but all it needs is some decent armor/shielding. And maybe to have the hover strength bumped up a notch or two. It can get annoying knocking into every bump in the road.

I hated both Mako and HH. Playing the Mako/HH parts felt like a waste of my time.



If Bioware want us to explore, they should find another solution.



I could live with a modified HH though (faster, improved combat, good enviroments).

Hammerhead on planets too small for the SR2 to land on. Mako for planets where the SR2 can land on. Have X amount of Hammerhead missions equal to amount of Mako missions. Everybody happy (except for devs); problem solved.

I’m on the " it was bad terrain" team when it comes to why the mako was bad. The mako itself was good it requires a tad tweaking but the knife edge mountains was the main reason I feel why some people may not enjoy what the mako had to offer. But yes I would LOVE to have the mako back.

What to improve on or change

Speed wise - I liked the speed in ME but I wouldn’t mind it going a tad faster but no race car speed that would just make it very off for me it looks like a tank but drives like a sports car? Those two concepts do not make sense.

Main cannon - Faster reload on the main cannon I got the feeling in ME it was a manual load but could they shoot two missiles before a reload is needed?

Thrusters – They all fire at the same time which is good but they propel the mako off balance can the shoot the mako so it balances in air?

Anti roll over – the mako for me rolled over very little only if I high sped slammed into a colossi and we fell over a cliff would I usually roll over but the thrusters would/could add to a roll over if used improperly so make the Mako heavier and have wheel balance so it lessens the chance of a roll over make the mako have sensors inside that sense where the weight or grip is needed and it self adjusts the wheels balance to compensate vehicles today do this in high end models so Mako could apply the same tactic to prevent roll over.

Fixing down time – While I do appreciate being able to fix the mako on the spot in ME you where frozen no defense could be mounted it enemies found you so I ‘d like to see mako must stop during fixes but it gets an uber shield boost and you can shoot both cannon and machine gun if need be. Also can repairs be when we decided to use them? Don’t have them depend on omni gel if Tali or another tech is on the team its unlimited fixes but if no tech is present maybe 7 fixes per planet.


Keep

2nd machine gun love the ability to multi shoot while waiting for the cannon reload.

Loved the steering on it sure some wide turns had to be made but if you worked with the throttle just right you could do a 90 degree turn quite quickly.

Keep ability to reverse and shoot in 360.

Keep the ability to roll over things and not incur damage.

Keep the radar on screen don’t hide it!

Keep the strong shields and tank like demur

The silent mako! I hate it talking!

The ability to go into the mountains and also down way down into deep valleys and caverns love going everywhere but keep a limit on those knife edge ranges and have some natural pathways or something.


Things to add

Banter - More squad banter just in general like if I’m driving particularly bad and ramming into every rock my mates should say something at least have 3 –4 different crew takes on the stop ramming the rocks shep!

Purchasable Upgrades - Can we add upgrades at the Citadel ship store? Like two cannons or double machine guns a npc crewmember can use while we’re engaged in combat and can be color and add texture to it?

Encounters - Add some more random wildlife attacks thresher maws, those flying dragon like things, Cerberus operatives inside vehicles (if you left Cerb) or Alliance/Corsairs verticals (if stayed w/ cerb), and pirates and basic no up to no good npcs with a grudge.

Terrain, Exploration, and loot - Varied terrains desolate, jungle, mix of woodland and field. Also for finding loot, bases, and minerals, we need to beable to find more not only minerals to manually mine but prothean artifacts in the way of new beacons that if found will give shep new areas of the universe to access, they’d also give new insight to prothean weapons and armor, also missing or kidnapped people why can’t we just stumble upon and save people sometimes? And non prothean ruins to explore inside for unique weapons and loot.

All great points & very realistic upgrade ideas!!!
Also liked the idea of going into caverns & caves & also having very tall mountins!!!
