I'm wondering what the difference is between medi gel and omni gel.  I noticed when I was battling Benizia that the omni gel seem to heal me when my health was low.  And I'd converted some of my inventory to omni gel so it seemed like it came in handy.

Is it good to convert stuff to omni gel or should I sell the inventory, is another question.  Can I buy large quantitiies of medi gel....................

Ok, thanks for any help, I'm still learning = Prozac :)

Medi gel is used to heal and you can only buy upgrades to increase the # you carry.
You can fully restock from the Drs on the Normandy and Citadel.
Omni gel is used to bypass security and heal the mako.
Id suggest converting your weakest stuff to omnigel and not buying anything until you have a million credits so you can buy some of the best weapons from C-SEC.

Early in the game, I tend to gel anything that is worth less than 1000 credits (and I scale that amount up accordingly as more expensive gear becomes common). You max out at 999 omni-gel, so you don't have to be obsessive about it. You never need more than 100 (or 150) omni-gel for a single task (and this only happens maybe a couple/few times in the game) and most of the "skip the minigame" hacking is only 15-25 omni-gel depending on the level of the encryption.

Before long you'll find that you have more omni-gel and credits than you know what to do with. ;)

I was stupid when I first started playing, and gelled everything. Then after I learned a bit, I gelled armor that I couldn't use, or items I didn't want to use. Medi gel was a precious resource for me, but you can't convert one to the other. Omni gel also gets you pass hacking attempts that you screw up, or heals the Mako when you haven't been doing enough dodging.

Cool, thx everyone, so now I'm learning something. So here's a few more questions:

1. What command do I use to heal the mako?

2. So medi gel is what I need if I keep on dying? And how do I get replinished by the doc at the citadel/normandy.............and what is full health??? I want a lot, obviously.

3. Really? Don't buy anything until you have a million credits? Why?

Thanks everyone, Prozac

1. Same as first aid, I think, but it uses omnigel instead of medigel.

2. If you go under the "squad" menu, it will show how much health you have. If the number on top of the fraction is the same as the number on the bottom, you are at full health. Medigel is picked up in missions when you open crates, and can be replenished at the Med Clinic on the Citadel or in the Med Bay on the Normandy (there's a device on the wall).

3. Cuz sh*t's expensive, that's why. Also, you get an achievement.

Wut

There should be a command, same as when healing Shepard, but it only appeared for me when the Mako was losing health.

Medi gel can only be replenished when it's not at full already. So if your pack is full at four, and you have four, you obviously can't get refilled at the medic station.  You can buy upgrades to get more, but it'll only refill if there's less then full.

I spent money on armor amor armor, whenever I had it whenever I could. It didn't matter how much I had otherwise.

I don't remember the default key to fix the mako, (F or R, i forgot), but you can check on the menu / keyboard.

The use of medi gel is limited in stocking for your characters.
But you can increase the number you carry by buyng an upgrade to some sellers, (as you can increase te number of grenade you can carry).

To replanish your medi gel in the normandy, when you enter the infirmary, you have a first aid station on the wall in the left.

The high-end Spectre weaponry costs about 200k-350k credits apiece so you'll need lots of money for those.

If you are healing the mako, you need a tech specialist in your squad. The higher the electronics skills, the better.

Note that skills stack both when healing and repairing the Mako (i.e. party member skill values are combined).

Don't buy anything until you hit a million credits because the 1 mil credits achievement unlocks specter weapons. The sooner you can get the specter weapons the better as they are the best weapons in the game, so sell everything at first. Plus, since you can get a million credits way before you hit high level, you get weapons with two mod slots much sooner than if you just waited for high level items in loot or shops. Once you've gotten them buy or gel whatever you want, there's no more achievement points money wise. From pistol to assault rifle the specter weapons cost something like 250k to 450k ish. You can buy each twice, once from c-sec and once from the Normandy's supply guy, so make sure you and your active followers are all using them. The Normandy supply clerk might not have a second specter assault rifle for sale, can't remember.

When I'm playing I quick save before doing anything that if I mess up will require omnigel, so I never use any, except rarely to heal the Mako, and if you save often you can often get around even having to do that except maybe at some storyline points when you simply don't have the option to retreat and let your shields re-up. On side quest planets just returning to the Normandy and then redeploying will heal the Mako, and on storyline quest planets you're usually not in the Mako that long before being forced to leave it for a while. When you come back it will be healed (most times, a few times it hasn't been which is weird, no rhyme or reason I could see to it), though to be clear I mean when the story has you leave the mako, not when you just get out to run around for a bit.
